The best Ivantchuks video moment is when he's busy playing an 8x8 checker's game (for a wager I think) when he's called for getting his tournament first prize, he rushes to the podium and while he's waiting and receiving his prize, you can see him pondering and his hand moving imaginary pieces in the air because his mind is still totally busy calculating moves and variations in his checkers game (which he promptly wins once back to it) . Hi Gotham, In episode five of Queens Gambit was mentioned a game variation named after the Lithuanian chess player Vladas Mikėnas. Born in 1910, Mikėnas was the first professional Lithuanian chess player, an international referee, journalist, and author of books about chess. Mikėnas became the Lithuanian champion several times, won the Estonian Championship in 1930, and played in the finals of the USSR chess championship 10 times. In 1987, Mikėnas was awarded the title of Honorary Grandmaster by the International Chess Federation FIDE. Mikenas System, also called Flohr-Mikenas System or Mikenas-Carls System, is named after the Lithuanian player. The defence of the queen’s horse is also called Bogoliubov-Mikenas defence. Would be amazing if you could cover any of Mikėnas games in your videos :)

The true hero of this moment the tiny short-armed T-rex who boldly attempted to feed Ivanchuk her mike for 30 minutes, almost chasing him off the stand. Also generous, Ivanchuk (for sharing so much from memory at the interview) and Levy for clarifying it and adding a board for mortals like me to understand the position. So glad I looked deep into the gotham archives. Thanks!
