Blindfolded chess is so crazy. How can they keep track of all the pieces? ? And then they have to calculate lines too.. thats just mental..

A good player can do this, the problem is this blindfold tournament is against other top masters.

Hi Agadmator, just wanna say I've noticed my chess skills improve a lot from watching your vids. Still a sub-1000 player but I can catch myself implementing tactics and ideas from games you've analysed. For example, after watching a recent vid of yours with a queen sacrafice, I won two games with queen sacrafices of my own!

I can't help but notice at 4:07 White can bring Rd8 into play (1. ...Kf7 / 2. Qh7+, Kf8 / 3. Rg8 at 4:15) which according to stockfish is a mate in 6 for white, so it technically isn't meant to be a draw in that position...? Unless I'm missing something.

how he could see this attack blindfolded and miss the mate in one vs Anand i'll never understand (don't know the specific tournament, but all Ivanchuk had to do was take the rook in the corner with the queen and it was over)

@agadmator's Chess Channel Hello Agadmator ! This is a romantic choice :p At 7:21, after Fxe7 Black lost in all variations. After 1.Fxe7+ if ... f6 then simply 2.Bxf6 # if ... e5 then 2.Qh6 After 2. Qh6 if ... Rg8 then 3. Qf6+ Rg7 4. Qxg7 # If any other moves then simply Qg7 # And if you re wondering why go for Fxe7+ ? when we can just go for Qh6 immediately, well rewind a bit the video to 7:01. You will see two discovered checks in a row with the same pawn preparing the final Queen blow for the end! That's too rare and too cool to be ignored, don't you ? ;) Hope you will appreciate it ! :) Keep continuing the good works !! Have a good Chess' day ! ;)

His playing style and when he wins is so confusing. Like when he was almost dead last and beat Magnus in a beautiful endgame, while Magnus was undefeated that entire tournament. And now he is dead last but plays the most memorable game of the tournament. Also that one time he played a move that was just meant to annoy Kasparov. I don’t understand him at all

In a blindfold chess match can the competitors ask for the moves to be repeated? Do they write the moves down (un-blindfolded, but no board in sight)? Or are they so super-human that they just have to remember the board at all times?

at the end of the "well known draw" position, i was really hoping you would go into detail as to why Rg1 isn't great, instead of Qh8+ but i guess i may have figured it out...
@oscaro.172
@oscaro.172 6 лет назад
Does anyone know why, at the draw by threefold repetition position, black can't play Ke8 instead of Kf8? And then if Qh8+ then Bf8? (At 4:10)
@spencerkemp5701
@spencerkemp5701 6 лет назад
First of all if ...Ke8 27. Qh8+?? Nf8 saves the day. Instead after Ke8 27. Bg6+ Rxg6 (as Kf8 loses immediately to Qh8#) 28. Qxg6+ this leads to repeated check. Also White can go down another line by checking on h5 instead of h7 which completely stops this idea. Here is a PGN, go to lichess.org; goto tools>analysis board to study it if you want 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be3 e6 7. f3 Be7 8. Qd2 Nc6 9. O-O-O O-O 10. g4 Nxd4 11. Bxd4 b5 12. h4 Bb7 13. g5 Nd7 14. g6 b4 15. gxh7+ Kh8 16. Nd5 exd5 17. Bxg7+ Kxg7 18. Rg1+ Kxh7 19. Bh3 f5 20. Qf4 Rf6 21. Bxf5+ Kh8 22. Rg7 Kxg7 23. Qg5+ Kf7 24. Qh5+ Kf8 25. Qh8+ Kf7

@darthmath1071
@darthmath1071 5 лет назад
Yes, it means not sighted.You can train by looking at the board only every two moves, then three, then four,etc. until you can play a full game. At least that's how I taught myself. And it becomes more natural with stronger calculation and a lot of games (even non-blindfold)
