Vaush likes drinking and doesn't like weed, that's what it boils down to. His vices are fine but yours are wrong and immoral.

Vaush is from the Destiny tree and then built his own "real lefty" sphere of streamer influence apart from/in opposition to destiny. The lefty streamer community had been dominated by him for years. This created two significant factors to a lack of "fair" criticism of him. 1- Almost all of the other lefty streamers originate as fans of his so they tend not to see his flaws 2- His clout and more significantly his rabid fanbase made it not the best idea to criticize him as a streamer. Vaush was never as bad as Destiny in terms of weaponizing his fans, but his fans still were likely to engage in a lot of abuse of anyone who criticized him. It's not until the past 2 years of constant clashes with significant with the video Essayist space along with a deemphasis on debating and of course equestrian activities that make him much less dangerous to criticize. So in terms of lefty streamers who are willing to critique Vaush it's you, Bad Empanada, and President Sunday as far as I can tell. It will be interesting to see if this grows and how the space changes.

The fact he thinks it would've been better for me to pop pills is so crazy to me. So many people get addicted to painkillers that they should've never been prescribed in the first place. At this point in time, it’s becoming more apparent that drugs make the modern world go round. The most popular, legal ones are performance enhancers like caffeine and nicotine, while others offer an escape from a dismal reality like cannabis and alcohol. Prescription drugs can either improve your quality of life or make it worse. The more extreme drugs are usually taken out of either sheer desperation or ignorance of the drastic side effects. That being said, it all depends on the person taking the drugs.

I use to cope with alcohol. About 11 years ago I was deeply depressed while in college. I use to wake up, literally go to the kitchen right after, and fill a MUG with vodka, and CHUG it, just to deal with being awake.

Software engineer here and can confirm most dont smoke weed while working, but many do. Also, its both a very creative job and a very stressful job so I think it helps a lot.

Psychotherapist who does suicide interventions and ran a rape crisis hotline for years checking in. Yeah.... don't gaslight people who tell you they are thinking about dying by suicide.... telling someone they aren't experiencing their feelings will only serve to make them write you off as a source of support or view you as unsafe. The first thing you learn in suicide assessment training is that you will not cause someone to harm themselves by discussing suicide with them. If you want to ACTUALLY help someone in this situation you need to validate their experience and assess how developed their thought process is so you can safety plan. You want to have a conversation with them about their thoughts, intent, access to means, behaviors, degree of stockpiling, and support systems, among other things. Also... Specifically working with survivors of sexual assault, a key component is the normalization of their emotional experience as many survivors think they are weak and alone for experiencing ideation. There can be a lot of value I'm psychoeducating a SA survivor on how common their experience is among survivors so they can reach out for community among those who have experienced assault. I'm going to stop now before this gets unreadable.

from what i have heard, only a couple of the strongest strains can cause the problem, and some level of predisposition to the condition, and the issue is weed has 2 active ingredients, and the "strong" strains are mostly the one that makes you high, with little of the thc that balances it out, making is safer and more mellow by preventing each other from having side effects

I think one of the things to take away from the whole discourse is know yourself, and know that drugs don't affect different people the same. I think if you’re a breadtube/leftie/etc channel past a certain size (let’s say like 1 million+ subs) it’s become kind of established that it’s bad form to come in swinging for a smaller channel that isn’t explicitly and openly doing chud stuff or whatever. I think most of the creators at that scale probably don’t think about Vaush at all and those that do endeavor to maintain a similar level of being “above that” kind of behavior. And if you’re smaller than a million subs then you probably think that it isn’t worth dealing with his response or the responses of his streamer friends and the responses of their most unhinged fans. I am trans and i know quite a number of people that coped with alcohol. its just that i hate being drunk,and dont like having a buzz, drinking just doesnt numb me somehow, that i went with weed, but if i had liked booze, i'd have drank myself to death in my 20's. thats another thing about alcohol btw... you can get away with smoking weed all day a lot longer than with drinking all day. Not just financial but physical. Plus alcohol tends to make people more likely to be aggressive, while weed mellows people.
