We both know that lol but some folk won’t be into just tightening stuff up with an extra turn of the wrench afterwards for good measure, The previous loose bolts holding the chain guide on have been fitted by a complete nugget,, obviously done with no with torque settings, or he just forgot to tighten them ,,,hense myself having to correct his work,, thanks for watching

Thanks pal, it was a first for me too, biggest job I’ve ever attempted to do with an engine, if you can get the bottom pulley bolt undone ok the rest is pretty straight forward and very doable, a garage charges fortunes, almost the price of the van in my case so I had nothing to loose, thanks for watching and good luck if you try, I’m here to answer any questions for you pal

@@c111prs top man , quick question have you ever had any problems with the van sucking oil into the intake via the crank breather pipe , just done a new inlet manifold , oil trap , and egr with restrictor , but now seem to be getting a lot of oil in the intake goes and drives fine , hoping its not the rings causing high crank case pressure.. any ideas much appreciated

@@ukgunit001 mine does the same pal I think the turbo seal is a bit tired, my intake pipes are all oily, there’s a lot where they join together..to the point where it’s dripped onto the front subframe, I just live with it and try and park it on dirt outside my house, sorry for the late reply 😎

@@c111prs Finaly found the groove on the flywheel for the mark LOL, had issues rotating engine by hand seems it was getting stuck on something, So I loosed the cam pins and rotated till I could free the lower end to get it to mark, then I ll retime the cams

@@jjt1093 nice one pal well done, you can get the engine back in time once you’ve undone the nut on either top or bottom sprocket

@c111prs new issue lol, I've got everything timed and new chain and all that but engine is very hard to turn around by hand, gets to a point and gets stuck, now after inspecting it's not the engine itself it's the crank oil drive sprocket has play in it seems to get stuck at somepoint judging by the large wear marks, with cover removed and testing I can see it has play around the sprocket it's supposed to drive, spins on the crank perfectly without the gear

@@jjt1093 there should be no play in the bottom Pully mate it’s fixed to the crankshaft using a stretch bolt ,,torqued to specification 50nm plus 90 degrees , one time use only bolt mate, have you replaced the one you took off

You dont need to take off full exhaust mate but it was in the way a bit and I’d had it apart before, crank cover has to come off yes mate and the sump, best of luck with it and sorry for the late reply

@c111prs all 👍 I'm stuck trying to.pry the damn exhaust apart under the sump lol

@@jjt1093 only other way is drop that downpipe at the manifold , I had to raise the engine (drivers side)with a jack to get the sump back on

@@jjt1093 I took my exhaust off in 3 parts , back box first then the centre, if you can get to that stage Youl get more pry or wiggle from the centre section, the flexi hose on mine was fairly new so it took the abuse to separate them, one lace you get that first bit of movement, keep chipping away maybe a hammer as well as shaking and twisting it

I had 6 torque bolts to undo I’m sure 4 bolted to the engine block and there’s 2 green bolts going into the gearbox case the longer green is found at the front the other is smaller so they need to go back in order

@c111prs ok I'll have a look feels like there is a bolt attached somewhere bugger is just not moving lol

@@jjt109325 minutes in the bracket is on the floor and at 26 minutes in I’m re fitting the 2 green bolts

or does the tranny mount need all off, Sorry for sounding daft but this is a nightmare engine. I have a jackstand under the ac pump and I guess I need another where the tranny is correct

There’s 4 going into the block and the 2 green bolts in to the gearbox case to remove then it should come off

@@c111prs Ok got it :) thanks for that 1 was left, SO now if have got all off I need I know 100% my chain was loose some bolts were loose on tensioner and guide, So is there a good symbol more mark on the flywheel to see Im good on timing ? or for rotating the crank to get it into postion

@@jjt1093 there’s a little hole in the case underneath you can get a drill bit In to lock the flywheel Youl have to manually turn the engine to you can get it in, I also marked the teeth with paint ,,there’s 2 spring loaded tools to lock the camshafts but if you undo the caps front and back on the head you can see with a mirror if they are in time with the crank once you’ve locked it ,if you struggle with this you can get a cheap kit with the flywheel lock pin and spring loaded cam locks on e bay for less than £20

@@jjt1093 there’s a window you can open on the timing chain cover to inspect the chain ect , you need to remove the drivers side engine mount first to get to it , just make sure the engine is supported before you remove the engine mount
