How to adjust valve lash on a F22A6 (sorry for bad editing) this engine is NON-Vtech
F22A-1 was a standard engine for Honda at this time. The F22A-6 has a more aggressive cam shaft, better ECU, and stiffer valve springs giving it 10-15 more HP over other SOHC F22 engines at the time

F22A6 was available from 1991-1993 on the CB7 and CB9 series accords. F22A6 was available on 1991 SE accord, 1993 SE Accord, 1992-1993 EX coupe, wagon, sedan. As far as beyond 1993, I have no idea, not into that body style.

7:34 when you’re using the feeler gauge here and looking to set it to too dead center on the next cylinder, are you adjusting the timing gear to where the feeler gauge can’t fit in the valve gap or when it fits snugly in it? Like what was the significance of using the feeler gauge when adjusting the timing gear, what were we monitoring by doing that?

There are marks on the front and back of the cam sprocket. Intake valve get adjusted first. NEVER use grease on a fresh gasket. Gasket sealer only goes in the corners. Don't use this video if you plan on adjusting your valves.

Thank you sir I love the f22a6 and the body style of this accord model year I wish I had the time to really modify my car but its kinda of a passion project

I have two of them. They are great motors. One of them has 326,000. If you have an automatic I wouldn't worry about it. The 5 speed is way faster. The 5 speed I have will roast tires halfway through second all stock. The automatic doesn't stand a chance against it. If the motor ever goes its getting a turbo, supercharger or lastly vtec. Keep up the vids man.

I know what you mean!!not to mentioned the sound plus the fact that I would sit at lights and race mustangs... I would intimidate them by holding it at rev limit and hear it bounce.....then dump the clutch and your OFF!!!!

So you are adjusting 24 valves? On a 4 cylinder? VTEC means what? I’m guessing 12 valves that were adjusted. Thanks 🙏

Yes it is 16 valves on this engine it is not V-tech just felt like it. Thanks for watching

So with cylinder 1 at tdc you can adjust all 16 valves?

No you have to put each cylinder in the right position to adjust corresponding valves

F22a6 isn't a vtec. I got the same exact motor

I believe it has a more aggressive cam and a better intake which makes it feel like it has VVT, Thank you for the correction. I’ll put it in the discerption

F22a6 is in 90-93 accord, and for every Honda if it doesn't say vtec on the valve cover, than its a non vtec engine.

I thought the more aggressive cam shaft stiffer vavle springs and better ECU over the f22a1 (lx,dx same gen) would be a different engine configuration and yes it is non Vtec but the NSX that year did come with VVT so when I said its an early version of Vtec as on the engine configuration it was like a Vtec of later models just you had more aggressive lift at the bottom end over Vtec. But you are correct it is not vtec but the engine is way better built then most SOHC I am sure thats why we love it
