What's up everyone! Happy Monday. The head is back, but now it looks better than before. Since I am done with the block, I now have to make sure the upper half of the engine is ready to go. With proper torque specs and assembly, this head should have no problem operating at its normal conditions. Hope you guys enjoy! Blessings!

You dont have to resurface where the rocker arm assembly attaches to the head?
@bwcp
@bwcp 7 дней назад
I personally didn't. I don't see any issue in doing it, but you can. I would only have done it if I had bent a valve or possibly scored or gouged the cam and suspected that maybe metal bits were scrolling around inside the head. I installed the head and been hitting boost ever since, no issues.

The cam lobes set the timing as as long as the cam position is tdc it shouldn't matter where it is when you put it in the head I was more worried about setting lash
@bwcp
@bwcp 4 месяца назад
Yea as long as the block is set in equal time, then yup shouldn’t be a problem. Yea the valve lash is quite important, it’s almost always overlooked. Very important to the efficiency of the valve train💪🏽

On the lower side of the rock arm assembly the top right bolt at 9:11 didn’t doesn’t have a sleeve is that normal? Mine looks the same but one of my alignment pins is stuck in the head and I’m missing one in your same location
@bwcp
@bwcp 7 дней назад
Yea yea I see that. On the top right you mean? I didn't notice that on the install to be honest. Just checked the Honda website and only 9 of those dowel pins are required, so Im assuming that the one that is "missing" is OK.

can you clean the valves with soapy water, trying not to spend a fortune on brake cleaner but also have a lot to clean
@bwcp

I’d try to use purple power or another solvent/degreaser. The best thing to do is getting the components hot tanked if possible from the machine shop, but all in all, whatever you choose to use, just make sure it comes off that way you reduce the possibility of your head or block getting corroded👍🏽

I recently swapped my head gasket from my 1999 civic DX which has D16y7 Engine all stock ... In the process I took the machine to be resurfaced & I was putting my head back on and putting everything back together it was all good..until I was putting valve cover on screw snapped ... I then tried a reverse drill bit with no success because how small the hole is so the only other option was removing the bracket from the rocker arm & swapping it I am now having the issue one the rocker arms hitting the camshaft while trying to tighten in sequence... Would greatly appreciate any help, advice,tips, ASAP 👍🙏

Congrats on replacing the head gasket on your motor man! Oooh ouch. So the valve cover bolt broke while trying to tighten it through the valve cover onto the rocker arm assembly?

With respect to the cylinders, which rocker arm is coming in contact with the camshaft?

While tightening the bolts if you flip the head are the valves suppose to stick out a little bit?
@bwcp
@bwcp 5 месяцев назад
Yes, but not all of them. This is because the cam sits above the springs which has the valves attached underneath it, so as you tighten the bolts, the cams lobes are pushing down on the springs, thus on the valves.

How do you re align the valves
@bwcp

You're asking like how do the valves go back to the original position when I remove it at TDC?

@@bwcp yea
@bwcp
@bwcp 6 дней назад
@@ericquiroga9791 Place back the camshaft with the cam gear marking "up" facing 90 degrees (straight up). As you tighten down the bolts of the rocker arm assembly, the force will push down on the cam lobes and then prop open the valves that are supposed to be open and those that are closed will stay closed.

dude i went into do my valve lash and everything was set to tight from the previous owner, i set it to spec and now it sounds bad. do you think my cam got wore out and maybe i need a new one?
@bwcp
@bwcp 8 месяцев назад
Shhiiiiiit bro! Hoping that the noise is something else. If not, then there just might some premature wear on the valve train, possibly the underside of those lifters or the actual cam. I would take out both of them and inspect them. If both of them look good, then I would consider looking into different things that may be causing the noise.

i dont have instagram but thx for the response. i guess ill take the cam out and inspect it . the cam lobes would wear out first if it was too tight right? i hope my rockers r okay and its just a cam swap. ill try to keep u posted or make a video about it on my other channel
@bwcp
@bwcp 8 месяцев назад
@@JO3BID3N-is-a-P3D0 yea do that! I would be inclined to believe so yes. There would be scoring if any on the nose (pointy part) of the cam and possibly the heel (underside of the cam). Worse case scenario, you change the rockers out, and best bet just the cam or nothing at all.
