it's also a nice subversion of how in many movies two characters kiss while there's a battle raging around them, as if the enemy gonna care. as well as perfectly aligned with both vax and keyleth's characters.

Even though it was sweet, it felt like such a sad, "we're going to die now, so may as well get this off my chest" thing, but Keyleth is so strong and determined to live and win... Good girl, Keyleth :')

I feel bad for Vax at that moment, but I feel like Keyleth in that scene was more like “Make out time later, ya Will Turner wannabe. I’m gonna frickin’ figure out a way to save our asses WE’RE GONNA MAKE IT!!”

@@republicanlass9676 i feel like that’s the point. To give us a justifiable slow burn, while also giving the other pairings a chance to develop. But I am confident that the payoff WILL happen in Season 3. Think about it. Season 2, Vax and Keyleth had to overcome the biggest roadblocks and their biggest fears: the Matron and the Aramente, respectively. And Kiki accomplished that first by passing through fire, as well as getting Vex’s approval and encouragement. And Vax finally got closure and clarity when he spoke to the Matron. That, and season 2 was pretty much a role reversal. Vax fell for her in Season 1, and then Kiki fell for him in turn. So… at this point, it’s only a matter of time.

@@EmphaticNod Because those two have natural chemistry and very similar personalities: Both are ranged attackers Both are very much the pragmatic of the group Both are fueled by revenge (Vex against dragons, Percy against the Briawoods) Both banter with each other and the saddest but most realistic Both are incredibly broken and dysfunctional. Vex is broken because of her insecurities and her tough girl persona is due to her experiences with her mother and her and Vax's father. She is also paranoid of losing her brother. She wants to be known for something and not a cast off bastard of some scandalous affair. Percy is broken because, he literally *invented* guns, just so he could murder the people who wronged him. He is also borderline suicidal with him making incredibly violent and sadistic attacks against those he sees as having wronged him. He also paranoid of losing any family or friends he has left. He also needs a compassionate and caring person in his life since he never really had that after he lost his entire family. Both of them would help balance out their bad personality elements and they are the only two who also bottle up their emotions much to their own personal detriment. Vex would balance out Percy's sadistic and violent tendencies while Percy would be a more intimate and comforting partner to help Vex tackle her insecurities around herself

They're taking a little creative liberties with the show to be able to create a compelling story of these character and story elements that fit w/in a tv narrative. Everything is shortened and condensed 😊 Even the Scanbo stuff is out of order and not quite like the podcast

It was a lot more tone down, but Vex was still wary of Keyleth, it was just a lot less overt. Their was points where she was kind of a dick about Keyleth potentially breaking Vax's heart and hurting her relationship with him. I think I know why they are doing this more overtly: *SPOILERS the future* ..... okay: They are more than likely building towards in season 2 the arc of Vex's death and her falling in love with Percival De Rolo. In that arc Vax was acting in a very similar but far worse manner with him punching Percy in the face and his incredibly paranoid stance on him. And given we have hints of the dragons coming next and the fact we will more than likely meet the Twin's father (which to anyone knows about Camp 1 leads to one of the most iconic moments of Percy).... its probably meant to be a narrative parallel to Percy and Vex and Vax and Keyleth. Already we have hints of this, like the more the Vax and Keyleth get closer, the more Vex moves closer to Percy (During Episode 7 Scambo, both were having closer conversations). Considering that Vex was the one who also convince Percy to start telling the truth they are just trying to gradually built towards that event

To build on what these two have already said, it also likely has a lot to do with where these characters are at development wise in terms of the story. In the original podcasts we joined them after they’d already had 2 years of gameplay, more than enough time for everyone to get very comfortable with each other even when they disagreed on shit or love interest was brought in. Vex by that point was already very good friends with Keyleth, and while she defiantly had her snarkier moments in concerns to Vax and Keyleth’s building relationship, she had already built a firm foundation of trust with Keyleth and that made her reactions a lot less extreme. But here, due to the rewrites they’ve had to make in order to produce a coherent story (such as writing out Tiberius and reworking how they meet Allura, Kima and Uriel), these guys haven’t been together very long, which means Vex hasn’t known Keyleth very long, and that means she is much more wary of her in regards to being around the only family she has left (aside from Trinket). Vex and Vax have been the only strongholds either of them have had since their mother was killed by the Dragon, and they’ve been treated poorly buy those they at first believed would care for them, which has forced them to learn that the only people they can rely on is each other. This makes both of them extremely codependent, which has now made Vex extremely concerned that Keyleth is possibly going to come in and hurt the one she’s closest to, or worse, divide the two of them and leave Vex alone in the world. I think Laura even had some development comments saying exactly that in one of Critical Role’s watch along parties for these episodes, commenting that Vex does like Keyleth, but is terrified she’ll take Vax away from her, so she’s forcing herself to be cold and judgmental towards her in order to drive her away. Hope that helps to clarify things.

@@blitzer9981 Building off of Blizter 99: *Do not read if you do not want information on Campaign 1* That and Vex herself is someone who both in the show and in the campaign was incredibly insecure. We know some things are consistent, like how we know Vex, Vax, Grog, Scanlan and Keyleth have known each other longer than Percy, but it was still a short amount of time. Also Vex herself does have a very bitchy side to her. We know this because of the fact she threaten to kill Scanlan for trying to sleep with Percy (Still one of the funniest things). In the campaign she was more passive aggressive at points with Keyleth which made sense given her personal fears. Its also not a one-sided thing. In campaign 1: Vax Punch Percy and then threaten to kill him if he ever did anything to harm anyone, particularly Vex. This was after the tomb incident and during the time where Vex and Percy were doing more shit together. This is more than likely going to happen in the show given how critical that plot point is for Vex, Percy, and Vax. Also consider Vex fears a couple things: 1.Being completely cut off from a emotional relationship 2.Being regarded as "poor, a outcast, and not successful" 3. Committing to a relationship. This is why she was very paranoid in both the show and campaign of losing Vax. Vax is the only family who at the time did not reject her or was not dead. Its also establish no one ever did anything nice to her until Percy in the campaign started gifting her with arrows he made just for her. She also struggles with identity and self-esteem issues from being a half-elf bastard. She has nothing but her brother to lean on, and feels like a unaccomplished waste of time. When you consider that she also refuses to open up to people despite her flirtatious behavior and actions in social situations. Vax said back in episode 5 raise this point by pointing out "You got to take risks and be brave" and she responds by brushing it off as being reckless and stupid. Vex only flirted with Percy during the campaign because it was part of her mask she projects. However as the campaign goes on, she starts to rely on Percy for advice, items, and emotional support. That is why even though it is unintentional, their is a Irony in the fact *she* in the campaign got Percy to calm down at times and to take off the plague mask. Percy was more blunt about his issues where as Vex has a pretty damn good Poker face. Its why the moments in the woods and feywild are pretty important in cracking her mask.

Laura kinda touched on this during the CR Watch Party: Vex’s worldview is the only people Vex and Vax can count on are Vex and Vax. No one comes between them. So when she sees Keyleth entering Vax’s bubble the way she’s been doing, Vex is both frustrated and fast to fight against it…maybe a little harder than she expected. Laura herself said she had to force herself to be mean in those moments.

What the other guy said. And it's its fumes that are flammable, which ale doesn't have much of so earlier when they set a barrel on fire with Vex's arrow, it looks like it was labeled the same way liquor would be. Now that's much easier to ignite and I would NOT put out a fire with that.

Besides what the other mentioned about the alcohol contents it's also worth mentioning that it cut off the fires oxygen supply which kills fire quickly

Ok there's this thing called a fire tetrahedron. A fire needs fuel, heat, and oxygen,and an uninhibited chain reaction. Putting out a fire is breaking the chain reaction. to burn. Now beer you'd think would be a fuel, but they poured so much on it so fast it actually became a smothering agent that cut off the oxygen needed, thus breaking the web of the tetrahedron. Water does the same thing, DEPENDING on fuel source. Grease will only splash if hit with water for example, thus spreading the fire further. In a case like that, you want to cover smother with a lid or use a fire extinguisher. (Us navy vet, who had to know how to fight fires in case one started on board out in the middle of the ocean where there are no firefighters)

Because of the reasons mentioned, all US sailors are respected by other US service members, who aren't being a chodish pogue (lemme spell it the weird way bc I don't want the kiddos thinking it's "Pog" which now had it's own positive meaning), as highly qualified firefighters. @@cygnusereve4779 yeah no I mean in the series itself in the legend of vox machina. I watched all episodes so far and in this video you see Vax help Keyleth healing Cassandra but when I watched the animated series Keyleth did it alone. So I was wondering if there are more versions

@@CountryMusicMann The importance of the beard is mainly how he painstakingly groomed it over time. And with the cuts they made for various reasons it makes more sense to have that later so you can appreciate it more when it happens, instead of having him show up fully bearded already.

Ale only has some 5% alcohol. Liquors closing in on 50% can leak flammable alcohol fumes but would mostly still drown out a fire. To really become flammable, you'll need a very high percentage. It's basically water and so it works just the same. The barrel they exploded on the other hand had some high grade stuff - which they distinguish by referring to it as "booze", opposed to the "ale" in this scene.
