@@crmay72 Along with Dame Vera Lynn. I don't know why, because all of history is against it, but I somehow told myself that the Queen and Dame Vera would just keeping going.
Yep. And that's the spirit of the english. I found the singing of Vera Lynn very moving. It was a Welsh batalion that liberated my home town. Forever gratefull
I love how the Queen mother sings along with Vera Lynn. 4 amazing women with Queen mother Elisabeth, her daughters Queen Elisabeth II and her sister Princess Margaret and Dame Vera Lynn ❤ Dame Vera Lynn died 2020 at the age of 103! Amazing!
Ah the Queen Mum... what a life! That must have been an incredible feeling, your nation singing for/to you like that. I'd have been overwhelmed to death, likely, but surely she was accustomed to such outpouring of affection. And didn't she look wonderful?!
It is comforting to know that Queen Elizabeth is reunited with the people she loved the most: her parents, sister and husband. Rest in peace Your Majesty and thank you for over 70 years of service and sacrifice.
Two things stand out when watching this lovely clip: 1. Dame Vera has the most crystal-clear voice still, when singing here at 78 years old, and 2. Their Majesties and Princess Margaret all singing along to ‘The white cliffs of Dover’ is just moving beyond words. The power of the monarchy is just magical at these occasions.
I love how their just chatting about something down in the crowd, and as soon as the chorus comes they all start singing together lol thats a good song for ya!
I love the bit where the commentator says about the Queen Mother", And what a moment for this most favourite lady." That is exactly what she was. A real lady. We will always love the Queen and the Queen Mother.
Thank goodness Great Britain had the Queen Mother during World War 2. She was a great support to her husband, the King, and to the nation. What a wonderful woman!
I worked at a assistant living facility years ago and there was a resident there named Margaret from England who would roam the hall ways all day and whenever she run into me she told me the story of when she met an American pilot during world War ll in England and fell in love with him. She moved back to America with him after the war and got married and lived happily ever after. Her husband was now gone and she was alone at the facility but everytime she stops me to tell me this story she finished the story by singing "White Cliffs of Dover" I learned every word of this new song. Thank you for teaching me this song and rest in peace in your husband's arms dear 🙏
The winner writes the history books ,books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe, Hitler would rather die than call a woman dangerous
Vera Lynn - What a beautiful song. I think Princess Margaret lived a difficult. According to my friend Lady Glenconner she was a wonderful and kind person - so different to what one read in the papers
FrostCreed She had fewer responsibilities, so her pleasurable duty always made her smile. Notice though. The Queen Mother had a more round face than The Queen, so always seemed more smiley. Don't be fooled though, The Queen loves a laugh and a joke and is a fantastic mimic.
The Queen Mother, besides being ever gracious and storybook-like, was an extremely intelligent, perceptive lady. She had no expectation of being Queen and looked forward to a country life with her family. When the world turned upside down and she found she would be Queen she understood completely what her role must be and, with no hesitancy, assumed it. During World War II she proved a leading international figure in her resolute decision to remain with her husband and children in London, in the tours she took of bombed-out areas always looking elegant, and her talent in being able to talk with anyone anywhere and connect with them. What a champ!
In other words she was a legend! Loved her to bits, seriously miss that lady, when seeing the cast for think was for her 100th birthday (possibly the ones still alive that was) the cast of Dads Army in the parade, what she loved apparently watching lol. That one about pike the clip has me laughing until I cry!
Quite sad that The Crown didn't capture how intelligent and charming Queen Mother is. Though it is a fiction drama, it was a missed opportunity to share with younger gen on who she is.
Every generation will always feel that their own era is better and that the future is grim with the next generation… It has always been a part of the package
RIP your Majesty My Beloved Queen II i am so sad to see you leaving us to a better world and thank you for your Great service and dedication of 70 years .God bless the Queen.
sam kirby Oh yes! This is *incredible* footage!! I can't believe it doesn't have millions of views! It's moved me to tears! And... wait a minute... Am I insane? Was Dame Vera nearly 80 years old here??? I literally cannot believe that. I must have my figures wrong or something. No 80-year-old could sing that beautifully!
This video made me cry! Not because a Queen sings with her people. But because ,at her age,she has more life in her, than a teenager has now. My father, who is 88,has more life in him ( or love for life), than I have at 54.And I have more life inside me,than a 20 years old. What is happening with us? It's 2020 and we are more fearfull than they were during war, during wars! I mean, all of us, cause I m not british!
The most important thing you learn from 3 gorgeous ladies on this video is communication, you can see they always talk to each other with a smile, harmonization in a family relationship is to build good communication ❤ RIP all gorgeous ladies, hope you'll meet again in enternal life on heaven 😇
Such love and respect shown by HLMTQ and Princess Margaret towards their mother. The Queen's mother was 94 years old there, and looked wonderful. I realized only recently that Princess Margaret died just a few short weeks before her mother...I can only imagine the heartbreak HLMTQ suffered that year. At least she had her beloved Philip to give her comfort.
I believe the Queen Mother would be just shy of 95 years old in this video. Her Majesty QEII currently at 92 years old I think looks better than her mother did, more sturdy and a gorgeous complexion for her age. I love British history...God Save The Queen!
@@chriswainwright185 I, without a doubt think HM Queen Elizabeth II, the current soverign, is much more attractive. The Queen Mother had a more infectious smile, but her teeth ruined that somewhat. The current Queen used to be a knockout and is aging gracefully.
@@chriswainwright185 well I was thinking they looked bit mangled, not the color. But oh my watching this again just bring tears to my eyes, just so lovely. They loved each other 💓
thank you for posting this. I'd never have seen the truly lovely moment of 04:36 13:54 if you didn't post. They are now reunited. RIP.
It does It gives me the chills. A regiment of Wales and a regiment of Poland liberated my home town in the Netherlands. We will always be in their debt. They risked their lives to give us back our freedom. And I'm sure the regiment of Wales listened to these songs.....
I did this for my party on VE Day anniversary in lockdown and everyone smiled at me as they walked past my house and I smiled back. I think everyone loves me
May the dear Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother rest in peace! Long live Her Majesty The Queen! May She continue to reign in good health by God's grace! DEI GRATIA REGINA! Long live Her faithful Consort, HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh! Rule Brittania!
