MY opinion here, Vegans only exist due to massive availability of foods other than meat and meat by-products in stores and supermarkets, if you imagine if there was no mass production of food for humans to consume and purchase at local supermarkets and you had to grow and raise everything ourselves or at least a very large portion than veganism would be very sparse or non existent.

My aunt is a rabbit breeder and the way she prepares rabbit and cook them is just too good. Yeah the meat is a little tougher than chicken or pork but she cooks it so well that it becomes so tender and delicious 🤤

I can respect a vegan who's vegan out of just personal choices or dietary needs and stuff if they just keep to themselves that's fine But when they claim moral highground and start preaching i have about as much respect for them as Asmon does for his own dietary needs.

Rabbits used to be a Christmas delight over here in the Netherlands. There is even a comedic song about a child finding out they were eating their own rabbit.

Horsemeat is actually good :) In my home region in Germany there is a special dish that is - if made following the original recipe - made with horse meat called "Rheinischer Sauerbraten vom Pferd" a roast made from marinated meat (most regions use beef though) It gets serverd with dumplings and dried fruits in the sauce wich give it a sweet and sour tase... Awesome dish you all should give it a try (either with beef or with horse )

You know, actually, I know someone that was stationed on an island in the Philippines, and they were fed dog without being told what it was ahead of time. According to them, it was delicious and tasted well spiced. When they asked what spices were used, they were told "No spices! Just dog! All dog taste like that!" They apparently spit it out and refused to eat any more after knowing what it was, because they're a dog lover. But the point being, apparently, dog meat tastes quite good. Though I imagine the diet of the dog plays a major role in that, so I'd bet a stray dog from LA would probably taste awful. But hell if I know for sure. I've never eaten one.

On the topic of horse meat, I once ate a dish called işlekli, it was delicious, I discovered later that that restaurant specializes in horse meat, I went over the moral dilemma in my head while on the way back to the restaurant again to have another dish and decided it was too bloody delicious to pass up.

At least for my mother's generation, when she was growing up (we're talking early 1960s), occasionally the ewes rejected their lambs. So when all the sheep were sent out to forage for themselves (all summer long not long after the lambs were all born, then gathered up again late September or early October... that was a big event called "réttir", might translate to "courts" or something like that, a big social event for that district. All the sheep had been pretty much been roaming wild all summer, and then when they were rounded up again, everybody got together to sort them out. How could they tell the difference? Why, they all their ears clipped differently and every farmer had his own mark. This was a big social event, and a lot more than just sorting of sheep happened. Neighbours settled their differences (sometimes with their fists), there was dancing (at least one guy knew how to play an accordion), there was drinking, teenagers found their first boyfriend or girlfriend that wasn't a close relative... all in all, a very important social event) Anyway, where was I? Right, so some of the ewes rejected their lambs, didn't let them suckle. So the lamb was kept around the farm while the rest of the flock was driven off. The kids on the farm would sometimes get attached to these lambs, called "heimalningur" (or "heimalningar" in plural), feel a bit affectionate toward them - they were practically their pets. Did these lambs survive the summer? Obviously not, they were among the first to be butchered. Did that turn my mother off lamb meat? Rhetorical questions are stupid, because obviously it didn't - her main complaint now is that a sheep's head is slightly more difficult to find in Norway than it was back in Iceland, and usually more available only around Christmas and Easter.

Something I've learned from living in Asia, is you just need to get used to just trying stuff. There are so many times I've gone to a restaurant with a local and they give me a weird dish. You get so many more opportunities if you are able to just be flexible.

My grandma had several chicks as pets ( every single one was named, and they ran around the garden freely), when they grew up and became old, she would do 'rooster/chicken soup' with them. Hot take from my grandma, rest in peace. Those 'Tabaco Soup' and 'Campanilla Soup' were delicious!

Let's say that everyone suddenly jumped to vegan. Well, now we have a problem: since the food is less energy-dense, we need more of it, and what? How do we make more food? We make more by converting more land to agricultural plots. Land that was the home of animals. But hey, we don't eat them. They die because of lack of food and habitation. There is the possibility of lab-grown food, except it's not yeta viable option. Scientists can't make these tissues without pumping them full of antibiotics that is hard if not impossible to wash out. And I would not trust a food made by the same people who make the vaccines. Also most vegans are confused and want a replacement that tastes the same as non-vegan but that their fragile consciousness can handle it. Like come on... vegan cheese, vegan burger... if you want to have an impact, embrace the difference, and try not to find replacement. Tofu, Jackfruit, mushrooms are nice - these don't try to be a replacement.

Started raising my own chickens two years ago, and this year began raising meat chickens. Ate our first one a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, killing the bird isn't my favorite part, but I raise them house them feed and water them. With the increase in costs for meat and eggs, this was a win.

As a Vegan I'm with you really. Like you said youself "Oh it's not necessary, it's just delicious!" I agree, I take part with the not necessary group but don't preach it upon others. In fact I often go to barbecues and steak houses and usually just eat off the menu salads or something of the sort. Why would I care about what others eat or why would I try to convince anyone that I know better when I don't? I do what makes me feel good and what feels right, and I do agree with you, steaks are delicious, I just choose not to eat them anymore, does not change the reality that I did at one point and they were indeed delicious and likely still are! I wish people would just live and let live. I never tell anyone I'm vegan because it's instant judgement from everyone around and nobody really needs to know what I eat or don't eat. But vegans who actively preach it up make me, a vegan, want to buy a gun, go shoot bambi, skin it, cook it, eat it in front of them. Literally.

Probably 30 years ago, a local grocery chain location had horse steak on clearance. Apparently someone ordered it, so the store obtained it, and then the customer either decided he didn't want it or whatever. I purchased the large package of horse fillet (yes, horse fillet mignon) for a pittance and brought it home and cooked it. It was wonderful..surprising to me horses aren't raised as meat animals, but they're probably inefficient weight gainers. In a zombie apocalypse, horse is definitely not off the menu.

I've ate rabbit, quail, duck, pheasant, squirrel, frog legs, wide variety of fish, they're all pretty good. Nothing beats a tender, juicy steak though.
