Hearts of palm are an awesome ingredient that we don't use enough, they're really cheap and surprisingly easy to get your hands on (we've seen them in most big supermarkets). It works absolutely perfectly as a lobster substitute!
This lobster roll has an incredible flavour and texture, and makes for a truly satisfying lunch.
This recipe is a great one for anyone who loves seafoody flavours but wants to avoid eating fish!

My nephew is Vegan. And I cook for him occasionally. Hearts of palm is one of my favorite "meat subtitles" when I prepare food for him. Jackfruit comes in second. Cheers!!

To me, lobster is kinda like bigs bugs of the sea. I tried lobster roll once and I liked it. The taste is subtle and the texture was very soft. My friend made from canned lobster. Yes, canned lobster, these cans are kept frozen at the grocery store. The cans are mostly the lobster claws flesh .Then , my friend made me a lobster tail, and I found it chewy, not at all like the tender claw meat. Now that I know what it taste, I dont crave it. I like this lobster substitute more but I dont see this substitution containing lots of protein. I would accompany it with a desert made with tofu to top the protein content of the meal.

Just discovered stache sauce RU-vid channel and he did this lobster version but with lobster mushrooms. Then he mentioned lions mane mushrooms. You guys should do a video with that!

Wow, that looks amazingly delicious and easy. I wonder if if will taste just as good with bit of the Old Bay seasoning instead of or in addition to the cajun seasoning - thoughts on that?

Lisa Old Bay , to the best of my knowledge is not available in the UK (UK readers please correct me if I'm wrong) however, it is easy peasy to make and I have some which I made from store cupboard ingredients in my spice rack and use it a lot for any vegan fish. For those in UK and Ireland Mix together 1/2 tablespoon celery salt 2 teaspoons sweet paprika 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper pinch ground nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon pinch ground cloves

Hearts of Palm is so 80s. It has to be freshly cut with a machete on the beaches of Belize (amazing beach BBQ with a Belizean boater). The canned version is soft and too mushy. Try lobster mane or lobster mushrooms. Even shredded king trumpet mushroom texture would be better. I like chewy toothsome textures -- (not rubbery though). Just saying. Vegan artisan gourmet evolution is constantly evolving which makes it exciting! 🧑🏻‍🍳👩‍🌾

I've not seen hearts of palm anywhere. Not even heard of them so I'm guessing only sold in the bigger supermarkets in the bigger towns. Is there anything else I can use instead, please?

I was excited for this recipe but was disappointed at the Cajun spice and Chipotle mayo. I'm from Canada's east coast and we don't put hot spices in our lobster rolls, and being vegan for almost 20 years now, I really miss them. I might try this anyway using less spice and regular vegan mayo. Thanks.

Yes! I lived in Maine for a couple of years and my heart sank a little at the spices. 🤣 I'm with you, though, and might try it with the correct dressing.

My opinion, my $.02. The spices are to give it some flavor. It has been my experience that anything Vegan, and especially when you are trying to mimic meat, requires a lot of seasonings. Heart of Palm, Jackfruit have no particular flavor so the seasonings help it along. I've had Lobster Rolls in New England...I add spice to everything so I could've used some spice on them

Lemon, Dill, Chipotle, Celery, shallots are not fishy flavors????. They are flavors usually found used in Seafood dishes. Looks good though 10/10

oh dude, I've been vegan now for many years, and love your channel. Nonetheless, I grew up in Nova Scotia, and I just about cringed watching this video. I love jackfruit creations, and would probably enjoy this one with hearts of palm, but there's no way that remotely resembles a downhome lobster roll. Just sayin. It ain't even close.
