There’s no need to brush an entire group of people with the same brush based on a few nuts. I agree with you that it is generally the case that a human’s life should be preferred over a nonhuman animal’s life if it comes down to life or death. However, this question is a red herring. The question isn’t whether a human’s life is more valuable than an animal’s life. It’s whether a fleeting moment of sensory pleasure is more valuable than an animal’s life and suffering. It is entirely compatible with veganism to value a human’s life more than an animal’s life. But does this imply thinking that an animal’s life has NO moral worth whatsoever? As long as you believe animals have at least _some_ moral worth, and that this worth is greater than something as trivial as human pleasure, you can agree with the vegan conclusion while maintaining that human life is still worth more.

I was really hoping that Jubilee would include some more moderate vegans to combat the stigma and the negative stereotype that the vegan community has. Disappointingly, as you can see from the comments section the individuals they chose have just further entrenched these ideas. I'm not a vegan, but a lot of the rationale for going vegan makes a lot of sense, and would make sense to most meat eaters if it was communicated effectively. I'm disappointed that this rationale didn't come to the surface here and I'd like to see another video with a greater variety of vegan points of view.

I can debate someone like you as a scientist who isnt vegan. Most vegans / vegetarians are quite health conscious but even with that scientific data isnt on your side. Perhaps in the future we reach an ideal diet but I would assume its gonna vary slightly due to microbiome / genetic differences…Its also very hard to mantain high quality vegan food in some countries, most vegans dont eat that balanced , so yes there can be a much better ideal vegan diet but I would assume less than 10 percent of vegans are aware and put effort in that.

I feel like a major problem with people saying "You don't get as much from healthy foods" is because they are looking at the quantity of food and not the nutritional value of that food. For example, someone might buy a big bag of chips and go, oh it's like $2 I can have this as a side for many meals and then look at a potato and go $2 for a single potato? nah. But like the potato has way more nutrients than the chips do, so really you are getting more out of the potato than the chips.

I can understand the idea of wanting to view all animals and lifes as equal but I think it reaches a point where you have to accept the fact you must value one over the other. I will try my best to avoid actively hurting an animal but I value my life and humanity more than any other animal because I am human. The biggest problem I have with this is so many people talking about how you just need to “spend the extra dollar.” Things about the idea that healthy and/or vegan food is accessible or affordable. Maybe in downtown LA it is, but I can assure you that it is not common. Around where I currently live and am desperate to get out of, there are no farmers markets, there are no health stores, the best you can hope for is that the Walmart had something organic in stock that you’ll have to pay at least 20% more then the regular version. Around here, you not only can’t find things that are so much healthier and also a few dollars more, you can hardly find people who have spare money after buying groceries. We don’t have the option to spend the same amount of money for at least half the amount of food.

He's right. The way of thinking of enthropy as a "food chain" is wrong. there's no hierarchy, there's just exchange of energy. When you die you're going to be eaten. So you're not above any other being, you're just part of enthopy. Ants do eat dead bigger animals. Hence why eating isn't good or bad, it's just eating.

They're not, they picked these unbalanced, aggressive vegans in order to make triggering content. They do it with ALL mainstream media. They won't but a rational, polite vegan like Ed Winters on because they're scared. Most media shareholders are invested in the meat industry. The store I went to sells both common and vegan foods. While buying the vegan necessities, I ended up paying around $50 for dessert for four people. Crazy. The equivalent in non-vegan food would have been around $20. Where I live now (Hawaii), there is a vegan Ethiopian chef (yummmm), a vegan Lebanese truck, and a vegan Indian woman who cooks out of her kitchen. All amazing. As for prices: Price for a vegan meal: around $20. Price at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant for a big tasty dish of meat on rice with veg, egg drop soup, and a wonton biscuit: $10.63. As someone with a chronic illness, I just cannot cook some days. I run out of spoons (spoon theory of invisible disability). I don't have the energy to cook and I need some takeout.

Thanks for hosting this conversation. its beautiful to see people communicating and finding middle ground. I have had this kind of conversation many times, as a vegetarian, as a vegan.. and also as a conscious omnivore. For me, its about your relationship with my body, what does she need? I know she will tell me. Some vegans miss meat and crave it, and some never do. Who knows what diet is healthier, but perhaps its not a one size fits all? If you want to talk the ethical side as well, theres so many ways to go about it but I am learning that it may just come down to our values. What do we value? Do we value the same thing? Maybe you value protecting all forms of life around you, whereas I am focused on caring for my body and nourishing myself with organic whole foods. Is one of our wrong, or are we both honouring ourselves? Anyways, just a few thoughts. I loved reading the other comments. Some of these are really hilarious XD

Maybe it's not my place and im overstepping here, but, this was my observation... Even before that she was coming in aggressive... which says to me that she isnt actually coming from the standpoint she tries to display, but, instead deeper more hurtful feelings and she uses her veganism as a way to display those feelings without revealing the true source of them too much I'm sure she cares about veganism, but, she pretends to care more than she does so that she can express her hurt whilst hiding exactly whatever it is that's really hurting her from everybody else
