Luckily for everyone the Lightforged Army is VERY accepting of other cultures and religious practices and wouldn't at all submit entire planets to genocidal cleansings. Well, I don't think Hatuun expected anything other than giving his life so that the others might escape. I mean, 'secretly' coming back to evacuate? While it's nice that you still have some hope left in regards to Blizzard's writing, but unfortunately I can only see it for what it has become: Bad, lazy and full of plot holes. The only possible explanation I can give to try and make sense of it is that after surviving for so long, Hatuun was starting to forget why he stayed behind in the first place and possibly starting to regret following Velen in the first place.
@tamas9554
@tamas9554 9 месяцев назад
@TsunzucchiniTzatzikiSan Thats only your theory, Hatuun was ready to sacrifice himself not just for Velen, but for the survival of his race. Him expecting Velen to come back and risk the life of his people just to save them is nonsensical. Argus was the stronghold of the Legion, coming back would have been suicide. Hatuun probably wasn't happy with his situation, but he made a choice when he choose his people over his own life. A man like him shouldn't be angry at Velen because he "abandoned" them, he should be happy that his people were still alive, even if he and the others suffered for millenia. If Hatuun is mad at Velen because of this, he is a weak person

When they did so, Velen bashes them for doing so while he was one of leaders.

Remember, he was literally stuck fighting the Legion on his dying homeworld for THOUSANDS of years, and he and those with him were warped nearly beyond recognition of who they were. Indeed. They are all Eredar at the end of the day. Now things are full circle. Now, all four known major Eredar factions are on the same side for the first time since the fall of Argus. Hatuun clearly needs to meet Farseer Noboundo. It's good he saw Velen is not the same guy he watched flee the planet. I dunno. Maybe we'll see a new leadership team for the united Eredar: Velen (Draenei), Noboundo (Broken), Hatuun (Krokul) Captain Fareena (Lightforged) and Arzaal (Man'ari). I think now's the time for the Eredar to come together. Azeroth is their new home but a new mission could involve traveling the universe searching out other Man'ari seeking absolution as well as putting down those who continue their evil ways on other worlds. Could be interesting.

They really need to build on this. This isn't a case of just "here's some brown skin orcs from that timeline we went to" or "here's some demon hunters who were imprisoned but now stand with us against the legion". The man'ari were literal demons who stood with the legion for thousands of years, two of the legions leaders in the absence of sargeras were eredar, so they score high in terms of placement in the legions ranks. You can't have something like death Knights being an issue joining the horde and alliance and yet gloss over this like it's nothing.

@@Palhum seems the only method of making this work is for some role-play elements for the individual to establish what their man'ari did while under the legion, and try to weave a plot around how they didn't do as bad as some others, how they doubted their actions, how they live in regret, all that shit, but without having examples made solid in the main story, it makes it all feel insubstantial, there needs to be a motivating drive behind man'ari going down this path, it needs to have other races reactions to them.

@@MrOrcshaman I kind of RP'd a similar thing with my Warlock pets after Legion. They were still enslaved to me, but they stopped resisting as much because there wasn't a Burning Legion to return to. They don't really care about whatever good deed I'm doing, as long as they get pointed at something to destroy. I played a Man'ari for a bit, and the way I rp'd them was very similar. For political reasons they keep up the image of trying to reform, but they really only care about getting to destroy things. If they have to act nice for the Alliance sometimes, so be it. It beats being stuck on a dead planet. But when no one is watching, they were as cruel as possible to mobs. In-game, they made a few changes. Gift of the Naaru has a fel effect to it for example. But I wish they really went all the way, as this is the first time we can play a truly Evil race. And yes, you could be playing one that is truly remorseful. But I wish Blizz really embraced that the Man'ari are mostly b@stards.

They turned it better than expected but we're still jumping some lore hurdles for the Man'ari to be redeemed. In the Draenic language, their name means "Unnatural" or "Corrupted". They chose to follow the Legion and annihilate planets and yet we're here at the end of it all with this guy saying he still has a good soul? That he did it out of fear? I suppose it's a bit realistic that one would fear their own death more than those of others but Eredar live a LONG time, their average lifespan is like 27,000 years. What I'm trying to say is that all those screams and horrors of what the Legion has done had to have gotten to him. On more than one occasion he HAD to have killed someone who was begging for their life or those of their family, perhaps children, but killed them anyway out of fear. Yet he never deserted the Legion, he kept murdering. Even if out of fear, this is WORSE than the Death Knights. At least the Death Knights were mind-controlled for most of it and the Illidari had a good cause but the Man'ari don't have either of those, they're straight up villains. They can't be redeemed.

I can see what you mean, but also remember that the alliance straight up worked with San'layn during BFA, has void elves, void corrupted elves that could possibly be agents of the old gods. So Prophet Velen pulling such a controversial decision to entertain some repentant man'ari makes sense to me to some degree. ITs also important to remember that at this time, the man'ari are not part of the alliance. I imagine lorewise Velen is just chilling out with some of them at the Exodar. We just get the customization and can run around as man'ari due to gameplay reasons, rather than lore ones. Its like how as a warlock player you can have your demons out in cities without getting bonked by the guard.@@Handepsilon

You believing that the Man'ari would be welcomed not only into the Alliance but to Azeroth is already no better than Blizzard's writing team :D They had an important role in the Burning Legion, they are responsible for unimaginable suffering across the whole cosmos. Do you really think any race in the Alliance would tolerate them, let alone the Draenei? The Horde would turn their back at them too for that matter! And there goes my hope of the Eredar joining the Horde as an allied race. A people adrift and without purpose after their master's defeat. Seeking a place for themselves in the world, in the universe. Unable and/or unwilling to rejoin with their kin in the Alliance, after being separated from them for many millennia (even longer from their perspective). Perhaps seeking allies of convenience for their own ends. And ultimately finding a place, even a home among the disparate, but united groups that make up the Horde. Like others before them. Forsaken, and the Blood Elves. Even the Nightborne, who found camaraderie with the Blood Elves that was not offered by the Night Elves. Velen may be willing to accept the defecting Eredar in their remorse. But would the rest of the Draenei be as welcoming? Velen could have been the bridge that brought the Eredar to the Horde, like how Caelia and Derek were brought to the Forsaken. Along with the undead Night Elves, risen during BFA. Oh ya, and the Broken we left behind on Argus. I'd almost forgotten about them after so long. They could have become an allied race for the Alliance.
@generationtpaul
@generationtpaul 9 месяцев назад
Velen bringing up the Orcs in his comparisons made me realize that the Eredar and the Orcs have a lot in common. They were both corrupted (including in a lasting, visually apparent way) and manipulated by the Legion. Both lost their home world, much of their heritage and culture, and many of their people. Both knew only war and conflict, for a time. Both did horrible things while under the influence and control of the Legion. Atrocities which they cannot forgive themselves for. (That part makes them similar to the Forsaken too, now that I think about it. Who did horrible things while under the control of the Lich King.) In a journey to redemption for the Eredar, camaraderie between them and the Orcs could have been a vital pillar of support, and hope for them. But will that ever happen, now? Maybe time will tell.

@@generationtpaul did you maybe forget, that if orc lived that tragedy, it was just cause of the burning Legion, especially cause of an Eredar? Forsaken? also cause of the Burning Legion if they have to suffer their affliction. In Emergency case: it was all the Jailer's fault
@generationtpaul
@generationtpaul 9 месяцев назад
@@diegodevitti2105 Specifically it was because of Kil'jaeden. And then the invasion of Azeroth by the Orcs was planned and facilitated by Sargeras. So as not to let the army Kil'jaeden had mustered go to waste. Ah, and the Lich King was also Kil'jaeden's creation. But, ya. That's my point as well. All of it ties to the Legion. The way these Eredar are presented makes it somewhat easier to resolve the issues you mention. These remorseful Eredar, prepared to turn over a new leaf, were coerced and tortured into serving the Legion. Death was probably a rather rare outcome for members of the Legion. Failure or betrayal was far more likely to be met with torture. And then being put back to work for the Legion. In addition, and perhaps more importantly; The Horde has had a history of grudges, reservations, and prejudices being set aside, or surmounted. I imagine many, if not all of the Forsaken were directly affected by the Orcish invasion of Azeroth before becoming undead. Many were probably displaced by Stormwind's destruction in the first war, and fled to Lordaeron. Many probably lost family, friends, and other loved ones to the first and second wars. And the Orcs probably weren't keen on working with humans and former members of the alliance at first, either. And that's without getting into the undeath, part. And suspicions that they could be agents of the Lich King. But they both became comrades, even friends. The Blood Elves probably didn't like the idea of allying with Trolls, due to their conflicts and grudges with the Forest Trolls. Or Orcs, who they also fought against before. And likely especially the Forsaken, who were previously part of the Scourge that scared their homeland, and desecrated the Sunwell. But they set those reservation aside in favor of securing allies who weren't the Alliance they felt betrayed and abandoned by. In favor of securing an alliance of convenience with a powerful group, which they likely assumed at the time would be temporary. Shortly after the Blood Elves joined the Horde, Sylvanas, being the former Ranger General of Quel'thalas, dispatched forsaken to aid the Blood Elves directly in the Ghostlands. And a traitor of Quel'thalas was brought to justice. By the conclusion of TBC, the Blood Elves too found a place among the Horde.

No faction should allow the Man'ari to join them out of the "good" ones in the canon story. Its hard to imagine someone who served the Legion for thousands of years, now suddenly want to join the "good" (our) side. The orcs were corrupted because of the Legion, the Draenei were almost wiped out multiple times because of them, and these are only two examples out of the many. They committed crimes that can't be compared even to real events, its that bad, how can anyone possibly forgive them? If they were really good on the inside, they would have ended their existence in the Twisting Nether millenia ago, since a rebellion wouldn't have achieved anything. Why don't we let the minions of the Old Gods join the Horde and the Alliance at this rate? They are not really different in terms of the horrible things they committed :D

They're destroying every aspect of the lore, it's unbelievable. Warlocks who serve the horde/alliance are already shunned because of their practices, even when they're siding with the good guys. Death knights had a hard time being accepted into either faction because of the atrocities they committed, even when they were mind-controlled. Demon hunters were imprisoned because they were seen as traitors for using the fel, even though they used it against the Legion. Hell, even mages were forbidden in the night elf culture for a long time for fear of what they could do with magic. And then, now, in a single conversation, all that the man'ari did is forgiven. Demons who tortured and slaughtered countless lives. The man'ari are DEMONS. Demon hunters are not demons and, if you read "Illidan", you'll know that their tattoos are made so that they can resist the influence of the demon they absorb when they become demon hunters, and soak fel magic. It takes a tremendous effort to do that. Some of the elves who try to become demon hunters get mad and kill themselves, or lose control and must be put down. And now Blizzard is telling us that a DEMON ITSELF will be able to control itself to live with others with honor? Give me a f***ing break. The man'ari are pure fel and lose their minds the moment they accept the legion's "gift". Remember the red orcs in TBC? It's the same thing. They became mindless monsters. Who in their minds would allow literal demons to join their ranks, demons who have CONSCIOUSLY (different from DK) tortured and murdered countless innocents? That's not poor, that's crap, lazy, disgusting writing. In the Blizzard golden era they'd write the story well which would naturally lead to new races joining the alliance and horde. Think about the Draenei themselves and the Blood Elves. Now it's the opposite: they crap on the story because they want to introduce a new race and don't know how, so they do whatever and then forcefully stick in the story. Well, you can't expect much after they made Arthas become a fart. This is dumb writing at its peak. Think about the most hated and dangerous creatures in the universe. I'd say demons and creatures of the void are some of the highest on the list. They're not dangerous just because of their immense power, they're dangerous because there was no talk with them, their sole purpose has always been to destroy and corrupt every form of life. Period. It has been like that since the birth of the Twisting Nether. And then you're telling me now that all is forgiven and that we can trust literal demons because ONE of them showed regret (which could very well be fake)? Imagine aliens come down to Earth and they torture, enslave, and murder people for generations. And that's not because they didn't understand human race or anything, it's because they're inherently evil. It's their nature. It's not something that can't be changed. And then suddenly one of them comes to the world leaders and say "gee guys I screwed up sorry let us be part of your world", and the world leaders would accept? And the people would be ok with it? Of course not. Trees can't stop being plants. It's in their nature. Demons can't be good. It's their nature, it has always been like that for the entirety of Warcraft lore. As I mentioned, all who deal with the fel have to be extremely careful and strong-willed so that the fel doesn't consume them - and there has been a fair share of accidents. Sure, there are exceptions here and there, but very rare and few. Lothraxion, for example, had to be lightforged to abandon his nature. But that's not something done lightly, or likely to happen - he's really an exception to the rule. He's the only known dreadlord that was brainwashed to join the Light (as far as I know, but even if he's not the only one, he's certainly one of very few ones). Then man'ari feel guilty and just decide to change? F*** off. And why would Velen decide to side with them? He literally spent his life fleeing and fighting them. It took him a long time to trust Illidan who was actually on the right side, and now he blindly trusts a man'ari just because he returned something that was his? I consider the Warcraft lore to have ended on Legion. A fit and good ending to it - Sargeras and the Legion are finally defeated and everybody can pack their stuff and go home. Every expansion after that was 99% shitting on the story. I'd really be happy if they just announced WoW 2 and started it from the point Legion ended (I know it's impossible, but).

Hey Alliance! You've got Dark Rangers and Man'ari among you, deal with it! You don't get to say it's non-canon until you get some bullshit "decree". You don't get to pick and choose just because you think it stains your 'good guy' image. ...You're not the good guys, by the way. Neither are we, but at least we don't think we are. Blizz decides what's canon and what isn't, not some fat nerd who thinks nothing's official without a "decree".

@tamas9554 technically now they're a part of both. Another example of shit blizzard writing.
