Venom 2 definitely had some fun moments, but overall it didn't really make use of its talented cast or do anything particularly interesting or original.

I see the biggest plot-hole of all. Venom wants to sustain himself - understandably. But his Human wants to stop him. Have not watched the Movie but... ... is his Host-body not affected? Is the Human not starving? Cause if not, that is a major plot-hole.
Dispite my distaste for mainstream marvel movies. LTBC just offered nothing new and killed off a classic villain just for the sake of the good guy won.
"Member when we grew up with Venom and Carnage in comic books and children's cartoons and then for some reason convinced ourselves that PG-13 is too childish for Venom?" "Um..." "I mean, stomping in people's faces, eating preachers, and killing folks non-stop is just too childish, amiright?" "..."
Carnage can’t be separated from Cletus in the comics since they are bonded through his blood. Also, they ARE a perfect match, I always viewed Carnage as being pretty much CKs subconscious mixed with the symbiote, which is why it’s so absolutely insane.
@Idk__ you want giant disappointment, look at the last Jedi or rise of sky walker over even ghostbusters 2016 and more. I’ll admit though that given carnage’s character. This needed to be rated R and much longer. Plus cletus and carnage were much more bonded in the comics and more. It’s far from amazing, but it’s not the worst thing in the world so relax
About Shriek, throughout the whole movie I was wondering how she got her powers and why it was never explained and also why no one else with non-extraterrestrial powers were introduced or even mentioned.
They literally stated in the movie that her powers come from "mutations", and then they send her to Ravencroft. It's HEAVILY implied she's a mutant, but y'all don't pay attention to dialogue just so you can complain later lmao
There are 2 movies released every single day on average per year. Maybe watch other than the companies you claim to hate so much??…🤔 cause I guarantee you it’s not even close to 99%
I just watch new Dune, and yes it was movie. It was not amazing movie, but I actually enjoyed it! I only missed some type of chemistry in the movie. It was little... BLA. Really.
The reason why Tom Hardy needs the Venom suit is to heal his broken back from carrying this franchise on his own. It's also frankly bizarre to see Stephen Graham in a movie about CGI liquid aliens knocking the tar out of each other.
Carnage was always the coolest character that they've never been able to bring out of the comics well. Even the old cartoon series didn't do enough with him. He could be Marvel's Joker if only someone could get him right.
I get what you're trying to say. On the instance of being savage and all about causing chaos, they share something there. But Joker wouldn't hold a candle to Carnage even if he tried. nevertheless, imagining if the symbiote would fit with the joker as well as with CK would be funny.
The '94 Animated series could only do so much due to it being a Saturday morning kids show I think they did a much better job than all the other illustrations or this live action peice of 💩
Kind of like how the joker was video taped at a dodgy nightclub in the joker movie...that we all loved...cause massive tv camera would be there for some reason? Don't overthink yourself into hating something you intially liked.
You should never eat brains those fucking things can contain a lot to diseases especially when consumed And I would know about those types of things, Believe That
This should tell enough: I watched this movie, then completely forgot I had watched it until I saw this video. And now I'm struggling to remember almost any details from the movie.
@Idk__ nowadays I avoid getting fried to watch films that I'm excited for but I really wish I watched this high so I could've switched off and enjoyed it a bit more. Its so fucking mediocre it hurts
I'm amazed at how much I've come to loath CGI usage in film. I used to be so excited to see the latest blockbuster, with the best visuals yet, but now I find myself looking for handmade set pieces instead. I watch the first LOTR last night and said to someone next to me that, "This movie is timeless." The use of real sets ,coupled with tasteful CGI usage, allows the movie to be viewed 50 years from now and still look good. So many of the movies that are being released now have no desire to be timeless classic, but instead want to be the new shiny thing.
It just confused me what they did with Carnage and Cassidy in this movie. In the comics, they’re a major threat because they’re actually far more compatible than Venom or anyone he’s ever bonded with. They’re so compatible, that Carnage has bonded to Cassidy’s blood, rather than his muscles or flesh, like most other symbiotes, making it far harder to remove Carnage from Cassidy, if not impossible to do so. It’s an integral part of Carnage’s character that Cassidy completes him, and that Cassidy feels the same way. While in the other hand, Venom and Eddy are always fighting, with Venom only keeping Brock on his side, because they both hate Spider-Man. In fact, the comics even have a point where Venom was bonded to Flash Thompson for a while, yeah, Spider-Man’s bully. And Venom was actually so unsure of whether or not he preferred Flash or Eddy, that he split himself in two, because he just couldn’t decide. Meanwhile, these Venom movies completely flip this on its head, suggesting that Venom and Eddy are actually far more compatible than Carnage and Cassidy, which makes the dynamic between all 4, far less interesting, since the hero’s don’t have to fight against a far better duo. The movie even goes as far as making Carnage far larger than Venom, when in every other incarnation, Carnage is less than half the size of Venom. It’s all surface level stuff, to make Carnage seem intimidating and more lethal than Venom, when they’ve undermined the **actual** reasons for why Carnage should be more lethal than Venom. Of course, the movies can’t go the route of having Eddy and Venom not be perfectly compatible. There is no Flash Thompson for Venom to become conflicted by, not even in the MCU, which, according to the ending of Venom 2, Venom is now officially a part of. So why bother having the interesting dynamic, where they have to put their differences aside, if everything that’s been established, will never give either of them any real challenge in that regard? Why put in the effort, if there’s no way to show that work to the audience? Modern movie making, and especially superhero movies, in a nutshell. Anyways, I’ve rambled long enough. No one is going to read all of this. Goodbye.
So that’s why Carnage always uses _I_ when referring to himself, whereas Venom invariably uses _we_ ! I’ve always thought it was just a way to show how big of a nutcase Cassidy was, yet I had never made that connection with the much closer symbiote bonding process than with Eddy.
I AGREE, I haven't read much of Carnage at all BUT EVEN I KNOW that the Carnage symbiote is supposed to perfectly bond with Cletus Kassidy to the point they are basically the same personality unlike Eddie and Venom, they screwed up by having Cletus fight with Carnage at the end...Cletus also didn't feel enough like a psychopath in this movie.
@@thesimpledude186 Cassidy is what didn't feel right for me. I thought Carnage itself was pretty spot on. But instead of a psycho murderer we got some weird tragic villain love story that doesn't go with the character at all.
@@off-meta-michael eh, the fight was cool at least. I didn't expect much in way of the story but it'd probably help if they didn't recycle the "Venom and Eddie aren't getting along" BS from the first film.
Don't lose your hardcore The Event Horizon audience. We need the Sam Neill meme to be shown once in every episode. You're one of us and you always will be.
How the hell do you make a serial killer who is so insane and uncontrollable that the alien symbiote attached to his body actively wants off and is kept there through sheer force of will boring? How? That shouldn't even be possible.
When they introduced Shriek I inmediatly thought: "So her power is screaming very loud, and loud sounds are one of symbiotes' weaknesses... she's going to be the downfall of Carnage, right?"
When I was a kid, I always dreamed about "Maximum Carnage", back then my favorite crossover of all time, having a live action adaptation. But now, I find myself hoping that it never happens, and the execs at Hollyweird have a change of heart and focus on something new and innovative.
Ah damn Maximum Carnage was by far my favorite Comic Arc as a Teenager. Dead Bodies everywhere a huge Battle between tons of cool Heroes and Villains and on top of that the ebst threesome in Comic History with Venom, Carnage and Spidy. Spider-Man 3 already killed my first big hope for a good Maximum Carnage adaptation with that tiny ghoul like Venom. Then Venom 1 killed my second hope for that, i didnt even watched it. And yeah listening to this here kills the last bit of hope. I know adult movies and marvel dont go well together and a huge cast with the likes of the Fantastic Four, Captain America and so on isnt easy to do and most likely would take 2-3 Movies. But at least a smaller Version of that would be great. Ah whatever iam pretty much done with Comic Movies anyways, but cool to see another Maximum Carnage enjoyer. =)
Well this film was... kind of Maximum Carnage if it was short, shit and had most the characters missing including Spider-Man. I kind of wanted the Green Jelly song at the end when I went in but by the time the credits came around, I didn't want the song wasted on this turd. The villains are killed off so a proper MC can't happen.
@@richardrichard688 Been a few months since I read it so cliffnotes is Cletus comes back again, this time connected to Knull (the Klyntar hivemind mentioned in the post credits) and twists a bunch of heroes kills a bunch of people, standard fare. Also with Venom all but confirmed for No Way Home we could get a better Red Goblin. Also Grendel is Knull's pet dragon iirc
It slightly confused me how Venom can take over Eddie's hands and draw what was on Cletus's walls perfectly in seconds with robotic accuracy, but can't seem to make an omelet without destroying the kitchen.
Venom was trying to cook multiple things from halfway across the apartment without even really "looking" most of that time. That's still pretty decent coordination. Those drawings were right in front of both of them and were done one at a time.
Yknow, the shitty thing about stuff like this is companies go "oh well clearly they don't like Venom", instead of going "our story sucked, was boring and uninspired, and people are absolutely sick of boring and uninspired stories that don't take risks".
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr Doesn't work, because the reason why they can't or won't listen to the potential audience is the same reason for why the movie sucks in the first place. They are stupid, they don't know their audience AND the source material and they are so arrogant to believe that they actually do know - the perfect storm of Dunning & Kruger effect mixed with arrogance.
This being an hour and thirty seven minute movie makes everything happen so quickly, so when things do slow down it's brief and mostly played for comedy. A longer runtime could have helped ease that rushed feeling I had when I left the theater.
The problem with Venom is that they are trying to go for the edgy anti-hero who is morally questionable but don't want to fully commit to it. In an alternate timeline we could've gotten something like the Joker, where a sympathetic villain goes down the road of darkness. Growing from a pushover weakling to someone with some backbone and perhaps going too far in some places, before just embracing it. They clearly don't want to commit to either one and might have been forced to shovel in the regular film filling that makes the world and characters pretty interchangeable. The love interest, the evil organisation, the bad guy who wants to harness the aliens for their own game, etc. All stuff that exists and is serviceable, for a plot, but won't surprise.
@@DiggitySlice Loosely based on the comics, they pick and choose aspects from the comics. Though if they'd just go off the comics completely then venom movies would improve.
If there was ever a Marvel character perfectly suited to a straight up R rated horror film, it's Venom. Instead they made a PG13 slapstick comedy. Bland about sums it up.
Carnage, Kilgrave, Bullseye and Jigsaw are some of the most diabolical and insane Marvel villains (IMO). Luckily at least the last three got good TV-shows to compliment them.
After seeing the film last night, a few thoughts: The first film wasn’t terrible but it was just ‘okay’. I believe Venom’s greatest hurdle was it’s trying to tell an origin story without being able to incorporate Peter Parker in any way. Ehh.. they tried. The action sequences however, felt a little less inspired, less ‘Venom’ and more Stretch Armstrong and acted as more of a crutch to make up for the fact he wasn’t able to web-sling etc. I felt ‘less is more’ may have been more effective as all we got to bear witness in the final act was the CGI equivalent of watching a silly string battle with awful camera cuts to try and inspire less yawning. Anyway. Moving along to the sequel, I imagined we could have moved past all the little stumbles as both Eddie and Venom got through their teething issues. I was expecting to see him hit the ground running. Perhaps he now had his life sorted out. Reporter by day and vigilante at night allowing the symbiote some freedom as the lethal protector? Nope. Still a loser. The ‘No eating allowed’ signs were almost like the punctuation mark to follow on from the wackiness an unstable relationship provides, right? The only lethal protector we got was more of a passing joke that never really felt funny. More of a promise of how things could have been were the script given some actual care. So they latched onto very select bits of the Maximum Carnage storyline and all we got out of it were a couple of two dimensional jeering villains coupled with a bland revenge backdrop. There was no real stake ominously lurking behind whether the hero wins or loses. By the time the post credits scene rolled, it was the first time I actually hoped there would be no implied cross over. A limp, lifeless sequel that comes across as nothing more than an afterthought.
@@spaceunicorn8423 Eh, those movies were pretty good up to tokyo drift, I rewatched a lot of them recently and they're still pretty decent. The 2nd kinda sucks though, bad.
They cast Mickey Knox to be carnage. That was perfect. Then, they stripped away every single thing that made that character work, neutered the script and made it a kids movie. That was dumb as fuck.
Agreed. I would have loved to see Carnage break out of prison, and slowly pick Eddie apart by hunting down everyone and everything he ever cared about to torture him before eventually killing him. And of course, leaving in his wake... a trail of... carnage. Meanwhile, Eddie and venom must solve some sort of race against time mystery to beat Carnage to the punch and take him down before he could finish his work. But you can't do a great story like that and walk away with a PG-13 rating. Man, I wish producers had some balls.
@@Dave-rd6sp you people are so self obsessed, literal alien organisms that struggle with basic concepts have to be interested in what's in your pants. how pathetic.
Making the Venom films PG 13 is right up there with big brain decisions like George Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney and casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther!
Hey, Lucas probably got billions on that deal! While PG-13 Venom.... yeah And Eisenberg's Lex Luther is not something a gentleman brings up at the dinner table
Yeah, both movies should have gone for a mature rating instead of the PG-13 rating. It feels like the studio wanted to lean Venom like Deadpool in terms of gore but the corporate heads and shareholders decided that a lower rating can bring in a larger audience.
The symbiote works how it’s is literally a parasite it can enhance your body and help from inside the body so people can see it but he talks to Eddie in his head since he is literally in his head. Venom isn’t a very complicated character when it comes to how he works just for people who r not familiar with his character could be confused at times.
Yeah what was that ramble about at the end of the video.. When he's inside of Eddie people can't hear or see him. When he's outside of Eddie, they can. I didn't think it was that complicated
I was really expecting Venom to be R rated. Kinda disappointed it didn't go above and beyond, as I'd imagine Venom to be excessively violent and bloodthirsty.
@@KhanMann66 , Flashpoint and Under the Red Hood are hard PG-13 rated films whereas films like Venom and Let There Be Carnage are both soft PG-13 rated films, so honestly if Sony wasn’t going to make Venom and Let There Be Carnage then they shouldn’t have gone for a soft PG-13 film and went for a hard PG-13 film like Flashpoint and Under the Red Hood.

@@Dave-rd6sp going woke isn't taking chances it's following whatever you want to call the narrative or trend of the day. Movies should be an escape from the reality of everyday life, not a reminder. No it's not the same as or even necessary to try and stay relevant or in touch with times.
The MCU Spider-Man movies never really did it for me. Spider-Man feels less special when he’s merely “a hero among heroes” and his tech was basically given to him by someone else.
Facts. He was a genius in the comics and in the early animated tv shows.... And he just got turned into Tony Stark's side project. That's why Ps4's Spider-Man is better. It shows you that Peter is a genius who can build his own tech while being a badass.
That’s the thing with Venom, he can be visible, invisible and only in Brock’s mind and he does use his abilities partly through arms and legs. It’s all faithful to the Venom comic book. As it goes for generic story, agreed they played it too safe. They downplayed Cassidy and Carnage. I guess they had a budget for CGI and couldn’t develop Carnage as much as they wanted.
I have one real question. I remember Carnage mostly from either the comics or videogames as the epitomy of savage, evil and chaos, not caring about anything or anyone and who enjoys killing for the fun of it. So first and foremost, I'm having trouble understanding why people seem to want the villain in this case to be compelling by depth... Why? Carnage is not the character that fits that approach and he never was. So why do people expect that CK, and Carnage specifically to have some major form of deep and elaborate take as if you're looking at Thanos? Carnage to me was never the villain you need to care about because he's some damaged chap who happened to end up spit out by life. No, Carnage is that villain you're terrified by because he has no moral compass and does what he does because he likes it. Carnage is pretty much the embodiment of his name: Carnage. And in that light... is Venom 2 worth it?
I think its more ppl wanting to look into the sick twisted relationship between CK and Carnage that we want. No one else would get them but each each and seeing that would've been compelling and also add to the fear factor. I haven't seen anyone wanting the depth of thanos qith a masterplan, just him being a savage and looking into the psychology of it
I don't why people don't want 1 dimensional villains anymore, I mean, sure, it's great to have a villain that has a greater goal, or even a good motivation behind extreme approaches, but there's also a good place for villains that are villains because they are just bad, it just feels great to watch a bastard having his ass kicked by the heroes. But no, I think having a villain that is just evil and/or greedy is too much for some people to handle
@@FatherNagic some people tried to defend this aspect of the movie because "in the comics is just like this, they say they're going to do lots of things and then it's something not so dirty", but we're still watching a movie, we need to feel impact of everything, but we will never feel impact in a bite on someone's fucking head, if it doesn't come out a single drop of blood. defending venom 2 for being too goofy, or having stupid fight scenes is just excusing lazy writing
There is zero carnage in this movie, not even a single drop of blood. There's a scene where he throws a cop off a 4 story railing, then catches him and gently sets him in the ground 😂 They turned the perfect symbiote into a joke.
Yeah but they're kinda boring still. Venom 1 & 2 could be really interesting as other comments mentioned, there's plenty of room for interesting arcs and source material to use to make really strong movies, adult ones at that. This one is so family friendly that a SERIAL KILLER that ESCAPES PRISON with a MANEATING ALIEN SYMBIOTE doesn't leave a single drop of blood. It's ridiculous how the contradiction between what they try to tell you and what you see doesn't seem to bother some. I don't usually nitpick like that but gotta say it's disappointing to still hope for anything remotely good at this point. But I agree that not having "the message" is like picking a 4 leaves clover lately.
Then you’re part of the problem. You’re just asking for shit as along as it’s not woke. It’s still shit regardless. We should be having BETTER standards, not WORSE. Wtf?!
For all of its issues, I really enjoyed the first Venom film. The story was basic, yes, but the interaction between Eddie and the symbiote was fun and gave the movie a "buddy cop" vibe that set it apart from the increasingly generic superhero fare dominating the box office. Sadly, the sequel decides to separate them for drama and neither character is interesting enough on their own, which means that the entire second act of the movie is nearly unwatchable. Then the movie suffers from the classic "We have a few good ideas here and there but don't know what to do with them, so we'll just point them out and expect the audience to fill the blanks for us" style that the MCU has perfected (so much that people are still convinced to these day that those movies are clever rather than mere popcorn fun) but that few others can properly get away with. Stuff like the aforementioned backstory for Kasady or the idea that red symbiotes are a familiar sight. The whole thing is exacerbated by the fact that Carnage was never a particularly interesting villain, and failing to improve his character was a major missed opportunity. I can't say I regret having watched the movie, but I probably won't be watching it again.
"Unfortunately none of the new hosts are compatible with him and he ends up burning through them quicker than Kathleen Kennedy burns through directors who demonstrate a shred of individual creativity." 👏
The church is a reference to the comic books, also it has a large bell. This is typical story point for Venom related stories, it was not just tossed in randomly it's taken from the source.
This movie is one of the most I’ve ever looked forward too and was genuinely angry when COVID closed cinemas around me while it was on. So much so I got an Amazon account JUST to watch it. But in saying that, after watching it, I was so disappointed. It just felt like they threw away so much potential and after enjoying the first Venom so much, I’m just sad man.
"Yeah, sure. Ok." "Ah, whatever." "How? Don't know." "Fucking thrilling." "WTF?" All that was missing was "I smell shite!" My life at work. You know me well drinker. Thank you! 😆

That scene near the end, where Venom is holding on to his girlfriend, stopping her from falling, while Carnage is trying to kill him, that was straight up the climax from The Amazing Spider-Man 2!!
He's a pretty good actor, but I think he was only cast in Venom because he played a serial killer in Natural Born Killers, and Cletus Kasady is a serial killer.
@@duncanwade1026 by that logic one could have also cast Zac Efron, since he played a serial killer once. There are a lot of different ways to play evil/insane, and Harrelson is able to play the specific kind of evil Carnage requires really well. I rejected the Venom films from their inception once I learned that Spider-Man wasn’t associated. Spider-Man is a pivotal element in the development and creation of Venom on every level. As far as I’m concerned, no Venom exists without that connection. It can’t be shoehorned in two movies after the fact either. Sony does not want my money.
Fun Fact: If Venom was actually comprised of cells small enough to breach out of his host without doing damage and could move around that fast, he would also set his host on fire from friction heat alone.
How Venom volume works in the movie always bothered me, I dont mind that he is basically liquid, but that 600 liters of venom need to be stored somewhere.
@@Noperare in the comics he’s not much bigger physically then brock - who is essentially an Arnold level body builder. Same reason carnage is thin and lanky in the comics - kassidy is basically a stick figure.
Hardy is the perfect casting ever for a character like this.. you cant HELP but empathize, and adore, his portrayal.. the personality they gave Venom, if they DONT stray from it far, is again, about spot on. yes, it needs some help, and would flesh out into easily a 3 or 4 movie franchise with some better writing and plot/storyline. i just enjoy this movie, and cant notch it into the trash bin..
"Tom Hardy looks uncomfortable and out of place most of the time" I can't pinpoint if that's because Tom himself was feeling uncomfortable and out of place, if it was such a good acting that you could feel the discomfort and dislocation of having an alien parasite living withing you... or both.
I was having similar thoughts when that was brought up. Maybe uncomfortable and out of place was what he was going for? Seems suitable for the character.
The original carnage Spider-Man series back in the early 90s still gives me goose bumps. Spidey pushed to the limits of exhaustion and despair trying to defeat carnage while trying to manage venom as an ally, finally collapsing…. And then…
I totally member begging mom to buy me those specific ones, she looked at Carnage and asked the guy at the Comic shop and he had my back dude was like "oh it's fine for him", I reckon I had nightmares lol.
Honestly, I was kind of excited after the orginial venom. I was really wanted an alien anti hero that would be a vigilante that bit off people's heads. Was a interesting premise. It was then thrown away in venom 2 for a entirelu different plot and made me incredibly bored. The interactions between eddie and venom were not entertaining and for some reason I felt like venom and eddy didn't even really beat Carnage in the finale. The movie also did not story building around the symbiotes which was confusing as I thought that was the entire point of the character. When all you get is "oh ****, that's a red. We are dead" from venom about carnage it just annoys the hell out of the audience as it implies a story/characteristic without expanding upon it. ALSO: the love interest of eddy should not have come back into this movie. Literally useless the entire time.
Definitely, ooh it's a red one really pissed me off if you have to be a expert on the subject matter in a film to understand it then the filmmaker has failed we're two films in and technically we dont even know what symbiotes are
I remember hearing the "red one" line and thinking, "oh, we're going to get an explanation!" as being the very casual spiderman fan I am, I only know carnage really as the scary red venom. when that didn't come and my roommate looked it up and acted like it was fine even though she had to look it up. Toms Spiderman is just someone that fits the "kid" role in the mcu that just happens to be wearing the suit. He doesn't act like Peter and his spiderman is less than sub par. I'd take Morales seeing as it's who they are trying to make him feel like.
@James Scott Miles Morales was created for one reason and only one reason - because Peter Parker is a white male. It was all identity politics BS, and that makes the character a diversity token no matter how much you like the movie he was in.
The venom comics are the only "marvel" comics I ever actually took interest in reading. I loved Maximum Carnage. This disappoints me greatly. Same as most modern adaptions. "Lets take some characters, rewrite their entire character and story then shovel it out to the stupid masses"
yeah, man. symbiotes are some of my personal favorite characters in all of marvel, with Carnage having been my favorite comic book character for practically my entire childhood. i remember being SOOO excited for this movie when it was simply a rumor back in 2016, but now that ive seen it after waiting this long, im immensely disappointed. they didnt do Carnage or Venom a shred of justice in honor of their comic counterparts. they are almost entirely different entities from one another because of how dumbed down and child proof they made Eddie and Cassidy. Woodie Harrelson wasnt even that bad of a pick, he portrays a broken mental patient very very well i thought, but the material just... sucks. Marvel is hot trash this year
They had the original Carnage/Venom trilogy in the school library when I was a kid. Those were the only comics I read cover to cover, several times. I had access to other comics, my dad was a big collector (hoarder, really) and I was never all that interested in many of the stories or characters. It was like a mental block. I wanted to read the stories from beginning to end... and then realized that this was impossible. The alt universe stuff, the multiple origin stories, the retelling. The use of the characters archetypes to plug a hole, characters written and drawn by different artists and writers. It drove me nuts. But that original venom/carnage? It was pretty cool.

@@saymyname2417 Don't really think of it as a gay romance thing. The symbiotes are sexless sentient goo. He acts masculine when attached to a male and feminine when attached to a female, so doesn't bother me .
@@riftvallance2087 - I see what you mean but that doesn't really matter. It's the way two characters are written and behave - namely like a bickering couple, even when they are technically not like the Winchesters who are brothers or when they are hetero buddies in a relationship with women on the outside like the cop and Werewolf in Grimm.
Honestly, I've kinda accepted what they're going for with the Venom movies at this point. For what they are, I actually like them a good bit, but yeah, it most likely would've been better if they went for a more mature tone.
honestly same. i can accept the Venom movies as they are, but they would be amazing if they were allowed to go full R rated and disconnected from Disney.
Yeah, they have changed so much from the comics, that comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges. Which I do kinda like. No reason to have the stories be the same beat by beat. The plot could use more meat on its bones, but I do love a movie that is unashamedly just characters trying to live their lives, instead of pretending to be something deeper than it isn't.
I honestly don't see why these two films get so much hate. I grew up with Venom and Carnage in cartoons, so the whole "it's not rated R!!!!" complaint is pretty baseless, IMO - especially when you consider what Venom and Carnage both do in this movie, i.e. stomping in people's faces, eating a preacher, impaling folks, etc. They just don't show the results of said violence in gratuitous, Tarantino fashion. But, I guess that's what people want, and if they don't get it they complain. Are these two films 10/10 blockbusters? No. But they're pretty good, and I don't think they deserve the negative hype. That said, I do agree that the film was missing something: my input would be to add another half hour to an hour to the movie and really focus on Cletus Cassidy as a serial killer - even once he becomes Carnage. Have Eddy get into understanding the mindset of Cassidy in order to track him down, and really give us more of a crime drama.
@@hanburgundy4317 Personally, they're ok for what they are, but they aren't very memorable, hence why I don't watch them; I've got better things to do.
@@hanburgundy4317 The main reason both these venom movies are forgettable is because THERE IS NO SPIDER MAN lol. The 90's animated show's adaptation of venom and carnage I liked the most.
I remember playing ultimate Spider-Man on the GameCube. I remember beating the game and unlocking venom mode. I remember that the tutorial for venom mode involved you literally devouring a little girl at night that just lost a red balloon, with her having only one voice line „hey, my balloon!“ well… another if you count her guttural scream as tendrils grabbed her and pulled her into venom. THAT is how venom is…
While I haven't been happy with what movies do to comic stories, I don't mind watching Venom. The banter between Eddie and Venom is what I'm here for. 🤣🤣🤣
I'd love to go to the Outer Hebrides to learn about the history of basket weaving. I'd also climb all the mountains, drink all the whisky, annoy all the women and lose fights to the fishermen.
One of my major problems with it was how they made Cassidy and Carnage be at odds, when in the comics they were so in tune that when Carnage was attached to Norman Osborne, Osborne became convinced that he was Cassidy... My favorite bits were definitely Brock and venom giving each other shit
