If you're not focused on just the second movie in a franchise, when it comes to talking about superheroes losing their powers, but sequels on the whole: Spider-Man 2 X-Men Last Stand (Rogue) Superman 2 The Wolverine X-Men Apocalypse Thor Ragnarok Iron Man 3 (loses his shit, and ceases to be Iron Man for a while) Blade 2 (for a short while) Deadpool 2 (in prison) The Avengers Infinity War (Hulk gets too scared to come out, after Thanos beats him) The Dark Knight Rises (at the start, Bruce hasn't been Batman for 8 years - and later also gets his back broken) Wonder Woman 1984 Those are the ones I can think of. 🙂

I think Ryan's main point with the climax was more about them having similar powers as opposed to its execution.

Second movies where the superhero loses his powers: Superman 2, Spider-man 2, Wolverine 2, Wonder Woman 1984, Iron Man 3 ( no suit for most of the film ), Thor Ragnarok ( Mjolnir is destroyed ). He does have a point that it happens a lot in sequels to show the character weakened and raise stakes.

I believe hero losing their power momentarily in a sequel happened in old spiderman, ironman sequel, incredible hulk, also hulk in infinity war, thor loses his hammer, batman in dark knight returns, kinda in old fantastic four, they stop using it or lose it for a while

Its not just about the post credit scene. VENOM 1 wasn't that great story but it was the highest grossing superhero origin movie. Everyone would be equally hyped for the 2 even if it is not for the post credit scene.

So something that was just............ let's say average of a movie is one of the highest grossing movies🤨what does that tell you about people and entertainment at this point🤔 just put anything that says Marvel and every moron just going to gravitate to it. 2:08 Spiderman 2, Ghost Rider 2, Superman 2, Deadpool 2, Wonder Woman 2, The Wolverine (which is the second Wolverine stand alone movie) and Logan. Heroes all loose their powers in those movies.

The very first thing my teacher told me when I studied theater was: "There is a difference between High Quality and High Entertainment Value" I can watch Fast and the Furious and have a great time... but its not a good movie. I love the Austin Powers series, its funny as all hell but no one in their right mind would even dream of comparing it to Citizen Kane or Schindlers List. This is for a very good reason. Laughter and Gore are easy, it doesnt have to be good to be entertaining. Two people talking in a kitchen has to be phenomenal to trigger a genuine emotion in the audience. If a movie is good or if its fun are not necessarily the same thing.

The Loosing Powers is common in character arcs so that a hero may prove that he is more than just his powers. For example in Iron Man 3 Tony used his Wits and Knowledge to Build Makeshift weapons to Break into the villa, On Homecoming Spiderman had to Stop the main Villian without Tony's technology, In Ragnorok Thor Lost his Hammer and had to prove to himself that He could still kick ass despite not having his hammer. Another place where this would have been perfect is in infinity war. Imagine if Thanoss used the Reality stone to make Steve skinny again, So in Endgame Steve is forced to fight even as a Skinny Guy. Then have him travel back in time, Work out and become Buff again without the serum. Finishing his character arc.

@@peteralexpro it doesn't have to physically always be your powers or skills but an attribute of your character that Was used to define or Shape that character, For example A Charasmatic romantic Lover character may become Ugly or disfigured in some way, So his arc would be proving to himself that people didn't like him for his looks alone, In Homecoming that Attribute was the Suit, He had to prove that he was a hero not because Tony gave him a fancy costume but because he Does what he knows is right despite The danger and restrictions.

Thor lost his powers in his 1st movie. TOBEY Spider-Man, then Tom lost his spidey sense in Far from Home. IronMan lost his suits in I3. Hulk lost his Hulkness in Infinity War. I'll be here all night listing Japanime characters that lose their powers only to prove they don't need them and immediately regain them.

The losing power thing does happen a lot when I think about it. I'd say more in shows though; like in charmed for example, mostly in ones with witches or wizards. Or sometimes in things where people can take powers or abilities away I feel. I know that it's happened in a few different shows, cause I remember liking the series but not wanting to watch that happen to the protagonist(s) again if I rewatched it, so I'd skip that episode or arc lol so for sure, it's happened in other things 😂🤷‍♂️🤔

Yeah 9/10 times the hero loses power or stops being the hero. Spider-Man 2, Superman 2. Spirit of vengeance he gave up power for a bit. And then every marvel 3rd film. Iron man3, Ragnarok, civil war he gives up the shield.

Cap only gives up the shield at the end of Civil War though, and it isn't his power either, he's still a super soldier without that specific vibranium shield - but if you want to be specific about that he's missing it all through Infinity War.

I was really hoping that Ryan George would touch on this, but I guess I'm the only one who was bothered by it. Why was Venom able to kill Carnage by just eating him? Carnage is a separate symbiote with consciousness. Also in Venom 1 Riot absorbed Venom and yet he was able to separate scott free. It just didn't make sense to me. Why movie, why?!

@@itskashkashi I mean that's true, but it's a lazy and unconvincing explanation. Also Carnage is supposed to be bonded completely to Cassidy which is why when Carnage is unleashed Cletus is essentially ripped apart and reformed. It doesn't make sense that the Carnage symbiote can be separated from Cletus, even by high frequency sounds.

Yes Marvel makes their heroes lose powers. Tobey in spiderman 2, Thor in first movie, T'challa in Black Panther for the fight to right of the king, Vision Malfunctioning in Infinity war, Wolverine in Logan, Hulk in Infinity war, Man the list goes on!

You cut him off early, he immediately said it was a simillar powers fight, which is true of most superhero fight scenes, he didnt at all mean the actual visuals of the fighting scenes...take your time to understand the context.

Wonder Woman 2 she loses most of her powers. In Iron-man 3 he loses his suit. Dark Knight Rises he loses his stuff. In many anime series losing power is often thing. Hulk lost his power if I'm right. Thor lost his power in the first movie. Neo in the new Matrix lost his powers. I feel like I know many such movies but can't name them.

Just watched review which is a year old. not knew he know Da Bra. A year ago i had been viewing his bro, The Reel Rejects. So, Reel to Jaby to Ryan to Stuff i hadn't watched yet.
