Looking at the crowd .there this a young boy looking at his g/dad in awe his is singing like he never seen him sing before.because he is with his fellow soldiers. Celebrating this wonderful woman who meant so much 2 them during the war yrs.
To have that kind of volume and control at her age is incredible. She sounded better than most current popular singers do now. Thank you for your service
Why do I cry to this? I was born in 81 and heard this in primary school. The war has never left my sense of tactile understanding after that. Kids in school today have no reference, no Grandparents who knew it. The smells of that generation and the cooking. The coal bunkers and single glassed windows. Milk men and paper rounds. Real cream sodas with a ball of ice cream in lemonade. Is it any wonder we have these issues in Ukraine now? Egos chomping at the bit to go down in history. Nationalism again? Seriously?
A song that really captured the War Years . Dame Vera may have been British but, she encapsulated the best of all the Allies. I choke up whenI hear this. I love all her songs from WW2.
That’s the indomitable British spirit, which endured the Blitz and all the campaigns of a war in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific. God bless you all! An admiring Yank 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
I had the pleasure of exchanging a few letters with Dame Vera Lynn. She signed a LP cover for me and gave me a letter of thank you for my service. Every letter she sent me was hand signed. I sent her a military challenge coin. As she had a large collection.
I love this song so much… Most of the people my age don’t even know this song and it’s just kinda sad. I play piano and I decided I would play this song for a recital to not just show people this song, but to honor Vera Lynn. Her voice could make me smile anytime any day. She has a special place in my heart and she always will. RIP Vera Lynn, we miss you…❤️
Listening to this ...now after the passing of dear beloved Queen Elizabeth brings bigger tears than ever before. The end of an era. The passing of so many heros.
"Please say hello to the folks that I know" .... "We'll meet again don't know where, don't know when". ~ Singing helped keep up moral in Britain during WWII .... and again 50 years later. ~ Brilliant !
This wonderful lady and this song bring tears to my eyes. I wasn't even born when the British and US forces fought so valiantly and took such terrible losses in their stand against Hitler. But my English Mum survived the war and I arrived a couple of years later. RIP Mum and Vera.
Not often does a song bring a lump in my throat, but this one does. I can only imagine what war years were like, but the hope, optimism and patriotism this song has is incredible and would have definitely lifted the spirits of those brave men who went to fight and sadly a lot didn't make it back.
I'm not British but I have loved this song ever since I first heard Sinatra sing it on his album of songs from Great Britain. I've never even been to England but I'm very aware of the special relationship we Americans share with our British brethren. This song sort of brings us all a bit closer.
obviously not aware enough to realise that England and Britain are two different entities. Scottish, Welsh and Irish soldiers fought and died in that war too and it’s disgusting how their sacrifice is painted over in favour of the anglo-centric narrative
For all those who have lost loved ones, believe in Jesus and pray that we'll all be with them one day in heaven...have mercy on all of us here dear Lord and bring us all home.
Omg i have been listening to Vera Lynn for like 2 years and a half now and this was randomly recommended to me. I clicked it and saw that she passed away last year🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭
@@darrenbradbury4017 Yeah, I get that. I didn't mean that only Brits are able to appreciate it. I meant that it's not within the realm of consciousness where I'm from. I understand that in the UK, it's practically a traditional song.
I,m a peruvian but when I listen this beatiful song in the voice of Vera Lynn only I cry of emotion. Thanks Misses Lynn wherever you are from here to the eternity...🥺🥺👏👏👏
It is so touching when people remember and honor their history and their heroes. I was amazed with the participation of the crowd. Congratulations !!!! from a country with History Greece.
Se trata de ''The little boy that Santa Claus forgot'', con Vera Lynn.
She recorded this in 1939 and sang it throughout the war years 1939-45. This concert was 50 years after that and her voice is still perfect. And after that Dame Vera lived for another 25 years! Astonishing.
I'm eleven but i think that i'm an old soul and when i hear this i know what: (We'll meet again, Don't know where, Don't know when But I know we'll meet again some sunny day) I'm learning english just for you.
