I have 16 smart devices running on the WiFi and have had zero issues. Getting a solid 150-200 mbs download speeds on the WiFi and 20-40 mbs unload speeds with unlimited data all for 50 bucks! I was paying Cox 50 bucks just to have unlimited data plus the price of the internet. Needless to say I cut Cox and I am very satisfied with Verizon. My son and I both do heavy multiplayer gaming and have had no issues.

Thank you very much for this review and everyone that commented. You all convinced me and picked one up today and am very satisfied. I went from an atrocious 3mb with frontier to over 200mb with Verizon. For those wondering why only 3mb. We just moved to a 3 bedroom mobile home. Everything is great about the home and the area but this is the gotcha part. Frontier made a deal with the management to be the sole provider for this mobile home park. They haven't updated to fiber in this area yet, so they're running on ancient dsl phone lines and are charging residents 50 bucks for 3mb. And no, it can't be upgraded. Yet. I was like hell to the nah. We're gonna figure something out and came across this video. Thank you again!

@@GrimTravels hey man no joke I recently had months of issues with my speeds too, and finally did get it worked out but you HAVE to get elevated to tier 2 support. The support you initially contact is totally worthless. Just argue with them them and refuse all their useless suggestions, just say you already did it and didn’t work. Force them to open a support ticket and get the number. Once tier 2 is helping they literally call you every 72 hours until they fix the problem, now our speed is legit better than ever. I have to say again though, Verizon support is TRASH if you cannot get bumped up to actual tech support. The 1-800 and chat features are USELESS.

I'm in Baltimore too and just started using T-Mobile Home 5G (Averaging 150-250mbps down 40-50mbps up). Works pretty well so far even living in an apartment with windows that face away from the closest 5G tower and surrounded by a ton of obstructions. Verizon Home 5G is supposed to have better latency, however. Latency is not super important for me right at the moment since I don't really do any online multiplayer gaming, however it might be an issue when I try to set up a remote workstation that I can access when I'm away from home. The Comcast upload speeds were killing me working from home. At 5-10mbps up, when I used Dropbox for work, it throttled it down to 700 kbps! Now on T-Mobile 5G I'm getting around 60mpbs up total which is then around 40mbps to Dropbox. Also Fios is finally being deployed to residences now in Baltimore. Mainly to large apartment buildings first. It's awesome to finally have options--I really enjoyed calling comcast to end my service.

A few days in with this and I'm impressed. No issues after I got done with the convoluted setup process. For the record, I tried the T-Mobile option first and was thoroughly disappointed. Their simple setup was a breeze to get up and running, but there's so few configuration options and it wasn't playing nice with my Google Nest mesh setup. I was getting single digit downloads and uploads. So, I threw it back in the box and gave it back to T-Mobile. I'm trying to replace an $85/month Spectrum service with mediocre speeds. Next up was Verizon. The setup process was an absolute pain. First of all, my order didn't go through completely and so the service was half activated. I had to call support to get that sorted out. Then the paint-by-numbers setup process which is completely through mobile was a pain. I have the 2023 edition that's a taller, more fully featured router and a separate window-mounted antenna/modem. Setup requires you to pair the modem with your smartphone via Bluetooth so that the Verizon app can finish setting up the modem. Problem is that this didn't work with my Pixel 4 XL. Thankfully, I also have an iPhone from work and the Bluetooth worked fine on that, go figure. Once I completed the setup, it was all smooth sailing from that point on. I pay for the 85-300 Mbps tier for $50 (includes $10 off for Autopay). My Google router routinely measures a consisent 550/60 Mbps which blows away my Spectrum (250/12). So far so good. My family can't tell the difference. There's a ton of devices on this thing. Multiple laptops, tablets, TVs, phones, game consoles hitting this thing and after a few days there are no issues. I'll give this a couple more weeks and if I don't experience any back-breaking issues, I'm going to take my Spectrum equipment on a long walk in the woods. One of my main reasons for making this change is to be an activist. We need more competition when it comes to home Internet. These monopolies in certain areas are frustrating to deal with. Residential 5G service is the black swan that I believe will be a major disruptor and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. But I'm going to keep an open mind. My biggest concern with this service is what will happen when more people discover this "secret" and sign up for the service. Will it get congested and I start seeing the low end of Verizon's promised speeds (for me 85 Mbps)? What happens during bad weather or emergencies? Will mobile phones get priority over Home Internet? Here are my Pros and Cons so far. Pros: * Excellent price. I'm saving $35/month with the price locked for 2 years * Excellent speeds so far. I'm routinely getting higher than what I'm paying for and better than my Spectrum service. * Order process was simple. Ordered online, picked up at the Verizon store. * Router has a lot of advanced options for advanced tech people. * Plays well with 3rd party mesh systems like Google Nest. Cons: * Setup process is not advanced users friendly. I work in tech and have done so for 20 years, I know how to set these things up. Give me the option to plug it in and set it up the old-fashioned way. Requiring the mobile app to setup the service is terrible especially if you run into compatibility issues like I did. * Too many cables and equipment. *Beware* the 2023 version of this device is much larger and has a separate modem/antenna. You have a POE injector and Ethernet cable for the modem, you have a power adapter and ethernet cable for the router and if you have your own equipment like me, you have two more cables to deal with. That's a mess of cables that all need to be tidied up along your window and wall.

I would have to agree with pretty much all you said. As someone out in the country with little to no options this has been working great. Much better than a previous wireless provider that Verizon bought out. It is now used as a backup for Starlink which was ordered long before this was available. If there is anything bad to say about it is the customer service trying to actually order the service. I had taken my system to immediate neighbors homes looking for a solution for them to test and order. Upon them calling to order everyone one of them were told it was not available until one spent countless time arguing and on the phone with them to discover if they all used my address they could order and have shipped to their addresses. Once we discovered this it was no issue for the others to order using my address. Only issue was one neighbors system was deactivated and after countless time on the phone was finally reactivated. The automated phone system is horrible as is the online chat features. But hey it works great!

Verizon has the absolute worse customer service implementation of any business I need to use in my daily/weekly life. Everything from the phone recordings, to the customer service agent ignorance/greed, to the "troubleshooting" their techs are able to do is laughably bad over the last couple years Their on-site techs were nice guys from my experience, and seem to hate their employers practices as well, but still they weren't exactly knowledgable in how the equipment worked or how to troubleshoot ISP issues Thats probably the only thing that would keep me from relying on this 5G home service. If it ever has something go wrong, the time it will take to fix will likely be tremendous and the troubleshooting steps will be really vague steps since there is hardly any wires

Thank you so much for all this amazing information....I am thinking of switching to this service as I too am dealing with the worst from spectrum and also have felt the need for competition is WAY overdue! Bro I appreciate your video so much. I just came across Verizon internet because I'm fed up with xfinity. They own my area and like your predicament I'm paying just shy of $100 a month for 300mbps. Realistically for my needs if I can hit 100-150mbps consistently I'm happy. Technically I'm actually paying that much for 200mbps with an $18 a month discount and they threw in 100mbps which they always do so when my deal is up in November they can start charging me like 115 for the 300 I'm hopes I don't call and complain about wanting a cheaper price. They make it so expensive to get anything from 50-300mbps but once ypu have 300mbps jumping up to 600, 900 or 1200 only adds an extra $5 a month per increase where to go from 50mbps to 100 you're paying over $20 makes no sense at all.

Let me explain the router/ modem that you have is for the 5G home plan which gives you an average of 50 to 300 mbps down and around 50 mbps up. If you go with the Verizon 5h home plus internet package or if they determine that you qualify for the mmWave band, you get a different router with 5G home plus. With 5G home plus you get 300 to 1000 plus gbps up and up to 150 mbps up. I personally have the 5G home plus package and I get 1600 mbps down on peak speeds and 100 mbps up. I’m running a cat 6 Ethernet cable to a 2.5 gbps switch and when I hard wire my gaming pc to the switch I get around 1,100 mbps down and 120 mbps up. I then got a tp link deco wifi 6 mesh system and I get a solid 600 mbps down and around 100 mbps up. I also turned off the wifi on the Verizon router/ modem.
@armourbl
@armourbl 2 года назад
I'm betting to get mmWave you have to live in a downtown city environment. mmWave requires a lot more density of antennas and you must have full line of sight to the nearest antenna. It doesn't penetrate walls or even windows well at all compared to other bands. Means very few people probably able to use mmWave in reality.

Thanks for your review. This service recently became available in Southwest Florida. I have the ability to try it free for 30 days. Years ago I set up a wired network in my home with two dual band wireless routers for better coverage for phones, tablets and laptops. Everything else (TV's, printers, stereos, NAS) has a wired connection. If I try Verizon 5G, I'm going to connect my wired network to it.

Have had this since the first of the year. Went in to get a new Iphone for the wife and I and casually asked if this service was ever coming to our little town. Turned out it was and we got it. Absolutly zero issues with this service. Faster speed than our $100+ a month Spectrum cable. Check often, it may be available soon. I have it wifi to our two desk computers and two smart tvs. One of which is downstairs in my man cave. No extender needed. The cell service is so good we dont have to hook our phones up to the wifi like we did when we had T Mobile service.

I have the Verizon 5G home internet for about a month now. I am currently on the phone with their tech support because my download speed is ranging from 1-2.5 mbps and upload is less than .5 mbps. They told me I would avg 85 mbps download. I have hit 85 and greater, but in the first month of having it I'm on my third tech call to find out why my speeds are too often less than 5 mbps down and less than 2 mbps up. I know it's not the home 5g router because I have Verizon on my Note 10 plus phone and when I run a speed test on it, it also is coming in low, so it's the tower. The tech just tols me they are going to raise the level of tech support on who looks at the case I just opened since this is my 3rd time in a month. I would like to believe him, and I hope they fix issue with tower, but I'm not holding my breath. It's a shame one of the most powerful countries on earth cant provide consistent high speed internet to it's people.

I currently have the Verizon LTE Home Gateway. I have a router that combines it with my CenturyLink service. This keeps the Internet from going down if one of the services goes down. I have an 1,800 sqft house, so I use the mesh system for WIFI, so I have turned off the WIFI on the Verizon gateway, which I prefer anyway. I've gotten the message that I can upgrade to 5G, so I need to check it out.

The problem I found is that the offering doesn't tell you if your area (I am in Seattle) you can get 85-300Mps vs. 300-1000Mps. They require two different modems offered depending on getting Home or Home Plus. My area only gets 85-300Mps (in Seattle fyi). So, while I get the range thing. I really wanted the upper service which I am paying for.

I also have full residential service Starlink at $110 per month, and the speeds are atrocious, currently down under 10mbps down and up. I'm canceling Starlink. It is absolutely garbage, and it will get worse when more people get accepted to it.

Yes I have the 5g service from Verizon with the CR1000A Router/modem unit. At first all was fantastic but these last two months I have had to unplug the modem 3 to 4 times a day for my signal states I am on but any pages I try accessing move like the AOL of 1980. I called, they reset my unit and all was well for on whole day then back to horrible once more. I thought it may change if I placed the unit in the hallway on the windows shelf but I needed a power extension cord for the unit to get it over there. I contacted Verizon for this cord. Well they sent me all the things needed to extend my service including another Router/Modem combo that is black and slim, two ethernet cords and a normal power wire for the black unit. No extending wire for the unit I have that was all I was asking for. Strange indeed! So now I thought to connect both making the CR1000A to actually connect to the service and connecting this new Black unit as the router only but I have not clue how to get that done.

Verizon tried to get me to join this but it's not going to be as good as my ATT Fiber. I have the 1Gb plan but of course you only hit that speed when physically connected to the modem. For WiFi, I hit speeds between 400-550Mbps download speeds depending on the time of day. And I hit between 350-425Mbps upload speeds. VZ is only offering UP TO 300Mbps download and 50Mbps upload. As someone who does a lot of uploading, I just can't take such a huge hit in upload speeds.

BEWARE IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT NEED TO RETURN IT Verizon informed me I was eligible for 5g home internet with speeds around 300 mbps. I have Cox now with around 180 mbps. So I thought I'd give it a try, since the sales guy at the local Verizon store said if I didn't like it, I could return it within 30 days and cancel my service for free. So the unit was supposed to be shipped to the store where I was going to pick it up and have it activated. Well, the guy at the store screwed up and the unit ended up at my house. I didn't think it was a big deal. I opened the box and set it up, and only got 20-30 mbps, very disappointing. So I boxed it up and took it back to the store. They said they need to activate it in the store. So they activated it, I took it back and tried it, and still crappy speeds. So, back to the store to cancel my service and return it. They were able to cancel the service, but said they could not return it because it was shipped to my home and not the store. (The sales guy screw up) So for the last month, I have reached out to Verizon 4 times trying to get a return shipping label or "kit", according to them. And so far, nothing. The last guy I tried said he could see where I requested a return kit several times before, but the process was stopped, for some reason. So he said he would try and it would be here in a few days. That was a week ago. So now I am coming up on the 30 day free trial. This is looking more and more like a scam. Verizon purposely denies sending out a way to return the unit and then will charge a late fee. This has been a nightmare for the last month trying to find someone at Verizon who will help. My next step is filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

vey easy to install and worked very good, the part that upset me was the store never told me that I couldn't return to the store if didn't work for me - unfortunately for my needs only doing streaming TV didn't work so I had to return it, and then the nightmare became a reality, store refused to take it, the store called CS to request a box so I can return it back to Verizon, box never arrived, called many, many times and the store never release the equipment in the system, so after weeks of frustration finally I had to wait to get a tracking label so send it back - took almost month so send it back - if it works for you GREAT but if you have to return it, .....I will be an awful experience. Clean communication needs to happen as didn't happened in case.
