All social media platforms that currently exist originally started out without ads. It's only a matter of time before you run out of the initial funding that got your platform off the ground and you need to seek more funding to keep it running, and the main options are usually subscriptions, crowd funding, or ads. Either way, somebody eventually has to spend the money to keep it going.
FB didn't have to make billions by trading data for money. The marginal cost of one more (or one million more) FB users to FB is zero. Yet the value is to facebook is roughly $50 usd per user. The greed of the founders is what drove FB to be $$ first and social second. From the start Zuckerberg was looking for ways to sell user data to advertisers. Just look at the screengrabs from 2007. It's such a shame that FB as the first mover in this sector had these motivations. Imagine the 'for-good' example it could have set.
I joined Vero for Zack Snyder and Clay Enos. However, I fell in love with the design and most features. It is so clean, simple, ad-free and it only requires some minor adjustments. What I am most impressed so far is the community. Almost no trolls, negative people, etc. This is really great and I hope it will be that way in the future. Vero is the best!
Milutin Mujovic Unfortunately it probably won't. Then there are the disgusting usernames and gross broadcasts that have to be banned. Happens on most every live streaming platform. Sad but true.
Nice Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Miyatalie Social Saccade (google it)? It is a smashing exclusive product for discovering how make money on the internet using this simple traffic technique minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my work buddy after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical success with it.
I kind of like where they are headed. If it’s another social media platform that does well, it will just be added to the list for people. The only thing they lack is stories, which has proven to dominate with Snapchat and instagram. I am excited to see what Vero has to offer and will give it a try.
Great platform! Really think this is the future of social media, I've been so frustrated with the pay for growth approach now adopted by Instagram & Facebook.
Crazy about Vero! Crazy about truth! They really are quite revelutionizing and you feel that from the moment you open the app and create your personal page. The community is inviting, the layout is mesmerizing, and the developers are actually there for you. HIGHLY recommend all to try try out Vero, try truth.
Vero is an awesome app! Very clean and user-friendly. I hope to share my short films and other projects through this app! I think it'll be better than other social media platforms because it has a smaller community with lots of dedicated viewers and creators.
Interesting views, unless it blows up it won’t have a small community forever, but for now I can see it being very quaint and nice. I might hop on for a while then if it gets big or does off I’ll skaddadle
Wonderful!!! I'm sad that I didn't find about Vero earlier...not because the prospect of Vero going to be a service you should pay for...but because it looks soooo cool to me !! :) You got me hooked, I'll definitely going to make an account on VERO!!
I like the line about creating a more social network with the shot of a girl sitting alone on a step as people walk past. But hey, I'll give it a shot, I like the aesthetic look of it.
Just signed up! Love what I see so far... a bit glitchy but SO many people have signed up in a very short period of time. As a creative - photographer and vlogger - I'm hoping Vero has a very bright future. Love that there are no algorithms or ads!
Interesting! Does Vero have any interest in pulling in content/video creators? And how will it sustain with no ads? Will the community have to pay a subscription? This sounds too good to be true, and i hope you don't do what every other social platform does, say no ad's and then 12 months later the ads come running in.
I have the feeling like it has to happen. Social media’s need income to survive. They will either charge for subscription, or have advertisements. After a while they will have to resort to one of the two
Vero says the first million users get in free, forever. I think they can reach that number rather quickly within these days. Regarding subscriptions, I'd like to think we've reached a maturity stage in social media where most of us would rather pay an affordable subscription if that means my data won't be sold for ads or other privacy concerns. How many of the projected app target (I see it as trying to hit the 18-34 demographic) will actually pay for it is still a gamble though.
I jumped on this Today after seeing my favorite Creators post about it. Having YOUR COMMUNITY there to easily interact with is amazing and I can't WAIT to see what it brings as a RU-vidr and as a content Creator
I *really* hope that vero will get funding because of the fact it is not finacially supported by ads! I abosolutly love the style of the app and the simpleness of it!
I just started using Vero yesterday and I'm really enjoying it. I run a small business but I want my Vero page to be a mixture of myself and my business (I make costume pieces). However, I'm afraid my dash will look junky with both my product shots and random daily pictures. Maybe there can be greeting page where I show off my product/ favorite posts and then there can be regular dash where viewers can see all of my dumb selfies and music preferences. The greeting page could be a place where I organize my favorite posts to show off to passerbyers. I think it would be great for personal users as well. They can show off their favorite things and passerbyers can see thay person's hobbies and interests and decide if they want to connect/follow that person or not.
As an aspiring filmmaker, I (1) really love the look and filming of this video and (2) LOVE THAT VIDEOS ARENT TERRIBLY COMPRESSED LOSING ITS QUALITY LIKE IT DOES WHEN UPLOADED TO INSTAGRAM!!!! Thank goodness, holy hell... i love the fact that my videos and pictures quality stay just that... quality. Made my first post lastnight, @VanQueenAnne More to come...
Just a heads up, Facebook along with it Instagram platform will steal your idea. That’s the sad reality of how big social network companies function now a days.
hochwertig produziertes video.
"no advertising" Uh, yeah because you're new. Twitter and facebook (and myspace for that matter) had no advertising when they started. You need advertising to survive as a product, so unless you're going to start charging people; which it seems like your twitter feed says will be the case.
So? Let 'em charge. Either Advertising or Membership. Fucking naggy people always complaining about not getting stuff for totally free or about advertising.
They will actually be charging the companies that want to sell their books music and clothes through their app. They will take a portion of that. That is how they will make money.
Signed up through Android. Works fairly well. Has room for improvement. I wanted to compare performance to the Apple version but I can’t find it in the App Store at all. The iTunes internet link doesn’t seem to work either.
this is a very nice app, for sure. nice to have a photo sharing app that can go full screen in photos, that isn't innundated by fraud/phishing ads (see instagram ads for a comparison). Design is awesome too. Well done guys :) I hope this takes a massive slice of the pie from Facebook Inc.
moving forward, what I'd like to see you do, is to add option to make phone number completely private. There are many who don't want people to find them using their numbers. People do have interests that lie outside of their usual circles that they don't want to mix together, and getting a second number just for that, well, sucks.
How does it make money with no ads? Does that mean users will have to pay something? I'm glad that there are no ads, but I hope we don't have to pay anything to use it.
Your App is so unique and has a great features but you need to work on you privacy policy to earn our trust specially after what the news said about your app!

You won’t be putting ads simply because you got the buy button, you just skipped the process of visiting other website. Tell me your plan to increase clicks on buy buttons? Haha you got me
Hi there - a few weeks ago we saw a huge surge in popularity which led to some temporary server capacity issues (now resolved) which resulted in frustration on the part of some new users and this was reflected in some negative reviews. We hope you will check out Vero.
Sounds too good to be true. What does Vero get to make it worth all the work and sustainable from their end? Is there any cost or fee? How long will they turn down big offers from companies to advertise and reach their growing audience (if it takes off)?
Ew I don't see that going over too well. Unless this social media is somehow truly revolutionary and a lot of people migrate away from FB to this. AND if the cost is super low like $10 a year or something, people are cheap these days especially millennials who I assume is their prime audience.
I definitely see people paying $10 a month, people pay $`10 for a burrito..... once a day. $10 a month and youre in a social network where the hashtag Fitness isnt reposted 99689489849383 times... It makes reaching out to others and showing your art just that... your art is shown, and its not just pushed away where no one will see it. Instagrams algorithm is messing up BADLY lately too. Good for VERO
If it means an ad-free, chronological feed where I'm not asked to "pay to play," I don't mind paying at all - like they say, if you wonder what the product they're selling on free social media is, it's always YOU.
They will probably get sued because of their terms of use which basically says they can use your pictures whenever and however they want when you post them without asking their permission. Do your research don’t follow the crowd. Their CEO is also messed up because he apparently fired tons of employees in Saudi Arabia without paying them for no reason.
