Just buy the angled extensions and make sure before you glue them that the angle works with gravity. You only need a small pump to get the water to the top, let gravity do the rest. This type of hydro system is PERFECT for growing just about anything. Just remember to reinforce it if you’re wanting to grow big plants.
Learned so much about hydroponics doing a behind-the-seeds tour at the Land Pavilion at Epcot Center back in the 90's. Amazing how much you can grow in a small space! And I still have the information they passed out :)
What's really cool is that you can do something as simple as a 10 gallon aquarium, some black paint, an air pump and air stone, a piece of styrofoam, a few other supplies, and you can grow lettuce in your house. Plenty of info out there on RU-vid and on the net; you just need to see what works for your situation.
Simple-but-logical designs like this are usually lacking in a lot of hydroponics systems I've seen (some seem almost too intimidating for a novice to even try). This is wonderful and looks like it could be made in very little time, with the right planning, tools and measurements.
Please show us how you did this! I'm going to be using hydroponics through the winter to get my fresh greens and maybe give strawberries another try. Hydroponics is a really interesting field - I'd love to see you cover more of it, even if it's just an occasional visit to a hydroponic farmer who's got a really cool setup.
TEACH US YOUR WAYS OH WISE LEADER!!! lol. This is fantastic but I've always be so intimidated by hydroponics. This seems easy enough! I need a STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL! Love you, you're the best. Ever!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Love hydroponics! I have a couple of small expensive systems but would like to build some DIY systems for growing through winter (especially with the cost of veggies now!) I love your YT channel and would love to see longer videos explaining how to build, parts, approx costs and what size of pump to use.
I built a system similar many years ago for my indoor garden during the off season. Hydro is the way to go for getting the most use out of small spaces.
Hey Kevin, would love to see more hydroponics. You inspired me to start my own in my second bathroom and it turned out amazing! I'll post build and pics if you do a real video!
Yes i need more compact hydroponics. I wish I paid more attention to a city event in Indianapolis that helped grow fresh food for underprivileged areas they had an awesome hydroponic system using large totes.
Absolutely! I would love a video on the fertilizers for hydro if you have time. Specifically Tomatoes, Bell peppers and Cucumbers. And most importantly Lettuce. I want a never ending salad bar on my porch.
Yes! It’s challenging growing leafy greens in our zone so I may want to do hydro in our garden but in a more protected area 🙏🏼 I vote for more hydroponic builds 👏🏽
Yes, I remember watching some guy at a college teach young people how to do straight vertical towers for lettuce and vegetables that he sold to restaurants. 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Would love to see a fleshed out video on hydroponics. I was recently gifted an Aerogarden and love it, but it's a bit too pricy to upscale very far. DIY hydroponics sound like a fun venture.
This reminds me of _nagashi-somen,_ which is a game the Japanese play on a hot day. Cold boiled noodles are sent down a water slide made of bamboo, and everyone has to try to catch them and eat them before they whizz by. Not sure why the zigzag shape of PVC pipe reminded me of a bamboo water slide, but my brain is weird sometimes.
Oh my I was about to try this with basil with outdoor light. Good size I've seen larger versions of this. Probably best for leafy greens. Would like to see the results one month later
I was gifted a brand new system very similar to this and haven’t figured out how to use it yet. Would love to see your tips on what to grow in it and how.
I have 3 apartment setups but with aquaponics in a 2 bedroom in PB if you ever want to check them out. They’re not NFT but ebb/flow on my dining room walls
Do you worry about water mold in this? And have you ever heard of bottle hives!!! Or hives you basically mount to the house so you can watch your bees!!!!!!! Man you gotta get something cool going for those little garden masters 🐝 great job
