A few products from this review were sent to me by Banggood for testing.
This does not mean that I do get all my products. I also review a lot of products I bought myself.
I started these reviews because, from my experience, not every tool from China was worth buying. So I wanted to do in-depth reviews to show you which products you should consider and which products you better leave alone. The fact that Banggood sent me products occasionally does not change the way I do my reviews. I still give in-depth reviews and give you my honest opinion!
On this, you can count on!
I have a good experience with Banggood.com, and they have a lot of woodworking tools nicely organized on their site.

I bought this one a few months ago and love it! When working a lot with mdf types of wood I found the threats were clogging quite fast (as you mentioned). To prevent that from happening I hot glued a thin piece of hard plastic on the routerside as kind of "splash guard". This pretty much solves that problem.

I made my own really easily with 6, 16mm linear rods and 12 bearings, and I love it. It's cost me $48 total, and it's a lot sturdier than my previous ($300) router lift. And it's easier to remove/install motor, and change bits. I just took a few ideas from other lifts, and put them onto 1 lift with the best ideas of others.

Thank you Denis for all the work that you put into your reviews. I've been subscribed and a follower for a while now and do enjoy your methods. I am looking into getting a router lift to use with a trim router. I don't need power for this application just easy and accurate adjustment for fine detail routing. I have a full size router in the wing of my table saw and that's all I need for the power routing but the bit height adjustment is too crude for the work I want to do going forward. Can you recommend a lift that will give me easy height adjustment ( similar to the full size version that you show in this video ) and will allow me to change bits above the table? I'm getting older and stiffer so crouching isn't a good thing any more. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Very nice review - thank you. I see this lift under the Zahyox brand here in the states (on Amazon). The one I’m looking at is $323. I too have concerns over the lack of adjustment lock. I am looking at this lift and the Kreg PRS500. They are actually about the same price (Kreg would be $315 after 10% discount offered and Zayhox is $323). I’d like your thoughts on the Kreg - is there movement using the locking mechanism? I like the fact that the Zahyox has almost 4” of lift capacity vs 3” for everyone else. I also like that the leveling screws are too mounted and it comes with the corner pieces. That’s big for DIY tables like mine. There are two concerns - the lack of a locking mechanism which is substituted by a color tightening screw as you showed. Could you use the screw as a locking feature? Keep it loose while adjusting height then tighten to use? Then loosen again? It’s accessible from the front I think - pretty easily? Second - the snap in rings over time. At these prices, should I opt for the Kreg? Is 3” travel enough?

Thanks for the review, Denis. I took a chance and purchased the New 4 months ago and am delighted with it. I have a Makita 220v trim router fitted with the 107 adapter. The only thing I can add is that I have seen the height change and noticed that with heavy vibration the height adjusting nut can move with the vibration. I sometimes leave the adjustment wrench in to stop movement. I hadn't realised until your review that I can tighten this up. The only flaw is the instruction manual is entirely in Chinese there was no English version. I need to go to RU-vid for installation instructions or use Google translate app to read the chines instruction.

Great reviews. But one more thing you could have checked on the router lift is if the axis of the router is truly square to the table top. A small deviation is irrelevant for most operations, but if one is cutting 45 degree bevels on two boards for a miter joint, then axis must be exactly square to the table top. I have learned, the hard way, not to assume the router is perfectly aligned. It can be checked by putting a steel 1/2" rod, perhaps 300mm long in the collet, and checking with an accurate square.

Good morning Dennis, excellent review as usual - thank you. I too bought this lift late last year, and have found it to be truly exceptional, I have also not experienced any movement in the setting despite not having a locking mechanism, and I think it is built to a tremendously high standard - certainly for the price. With the bullet proof 3.25HP motor that they also do it makes a very powerful router table set up, it is one of the best buys I have made, so good in fact I bought a second unit for an additional table! Keep up the excellent series, your workshop makes me somewhat envious!!

You may find that the combination of the 'Incra Rounter Fence" and the "Jessem Router table hold downs (stock guides)" can cause problems. As you push the wood through the router table bit, if the wood is not completely flat along its side (or the router bit causes the wood to lift or bounce), even though the Jessem hold downs will attempt to keep the wood flat to the table - the Incra fence can lift up!!! Try lifting the incra fence in the middle by hand - it does lift up, especially if you are using the incra wonder fence. Although, there are workarounds to this problem.....
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
You may be right because I indeed used the stock guides. I understand what you say and also agree. Will keep it in mind. How do you work around it?
@peterg902
@peterg902 2 года назад
Work arounds can include crude methods - e.g., clamp a piece of wood (on top of the fence) - one clamp on each side of the fence - pressing it down to the router table (like a caul). Perhaps a more elegant solution maybe using t-tracks - clamp the router fence down using its own t-track (at the back of the fence) and 2 t-tracks routed into the table top. It surprised me when I noticed how much the fence can lift or bounce (at times) - especial when using the jessem hold downs. Regards Peter - love your work.

Even at the reduced price of 240€ (when I was looking at it last time is was 349€, down from the "official" 400€ price tag) it seems a bit pricey. For the regular reduced price you can get a Sauter OFL (made in Germany no less), even after the price hike a few months ago without discount. The annoying part about Banggood nowadays is that pretty much everything is always "on sale", even if there's just a single cent off the "regular" price making "points" and coupons inapplicable which are rotting away and expiring in my account. For the price of this lift and a very basic router motor you can buy a Triton router AND a router base plate for almost the same router table experience but in addition you get the handheld router you will need in adddition to actually integrate your router lift (in case one doesn't have one or more handheld routers already).
@MKRM27
@MKRM27 2 года назад
And if the Sauter one ever goes wrong, they will look after you. These banggood brands won’t even look after you if your original delivery doesn’t arrive
@grantnelson7717

I agree about the wildly fluctuating prices of Banggood. Also, many tools ‘normal’ price has doubled in the last year or two, making them less attractive than a European brand, as both of you pointed out.
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
I agree with you on the price. I do not think it is a modern way of price politics. But It is something "Chinese" I guess. I agree also with you on the triton and base plate solution. That is the entree level solution. But If you choose a lift, it will always cost you a lot more and you will need another router also for handheld work. So, that will never be the cheapest solution. I think a lift solution gives something back in return, but you will pay a premium price for it. How much I liked the triton and base plate solution, it will not run as smooth as a lift combo. What I liked about this lift is that it is affordable, but is a smooth as the more expansive alternatives. But like I said in the video, it is an entree level lift solution, but still beter then a triton/base plate solution.
@MrMartinSchou

Hi Dennis, Do you think this is a better set up to your original Triton and Incra set up?
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
I liked the Triton INCRA setup, A lift will always be a little bit smoother. My INCRA left with AEG router was a upgrade. But as with upgrades, it will not mean the former situation is nor workable. You will just improve it by small steps. As soon as you choose for a lift option, you will pay a lot more. The advantage of this Lift is, that it is a entree level lift, price wise. But it performs in his main function pretty good. And also will be an upgrade over a Triton / INCRA solution. But it will always be more expansive than a router base setup.

After watching your other r lift reviews, I think the most cost effective solution is still the triton setup , the clean sweep inserts seem too good to miss and if they work in the triton plate that's what I'd go for
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
Hi Kevin, Yes, the Triton is a nice solution. Especially because the air outlets of the router are at the sides instead of on the top. When you mount it in a table, and you have suction under the table, there always will come some dust in the router itself. That said, This router lift slide better, it is more consistent and runs very smooth. So, when you do more work with a router, in the end, I would prefer a router lift.

Looking at the price of most spindles, 2400w router motors would make this lift at £235 plus taxes well over £400. The Rutlands r15 bundle of lift amd motorfor £399 sometimes on special offer for £329 seems a bette deal and is at least from a euro dealer.

If you are in the UK this is perhaps an option, but for Europe, the the prices on Rutlands is without VAT and import duties, the Pound - Euro rate is not realistic so, you have to pay a lot more then you will think at first sight. So, this same lift on Rutlands will cost you abobr 400 euro as Europe customer. That is not an entry level price anymore. How many stars do you give this router lift? (I did not see it listed yet on your ratings page.) Also, could you tell us to what router lifts this one would be comparable? or at least what sort of price point? As others have pointed out, it is not hard to find a lift at the $230 price point that this is at, but I don't know if it is comparable in quality to a $300 or $400 or even $500 lift. Thanks!

I do own also the master R lift from Jessem/incra which sells for around 500 euro’s. In therms of smoothnesses of lifting, to be able to adjust it in 100 of a mm steps it is on par with the Jessem. In terms of build quality it is not. This one is nicely build but the materials used are not like the Jessem or other more expensive lifts I know. So there is where you have to look for the price difference. The entry level is good enough do. At least in my view.

Great review Dennis! I would not hesitate to buy this if it fit my AEG motor. So I have to choose between getting the MasterR lift that fits my current router, or the Banggood one plus a motor that fits! (And supports 12mm bits, so no Makita palm router). What would Dennis do? :)

It does not fit your AEG🙁. I told in the video I had a hard time choosing between this and Master R. I really am. But I think I would end up with the INCRA and this 3.25 hp router.

Agree, I knew, the stock was limited So, I advised them to manage expectations about delivery time. So, I am glad they did. Better not to choose because it will take too long, then buying it, and endless wait for the product to arrive. So, a shame it take so long, glad they are open about it. I see progress :-) But I can understand your feeling.

Thanks for your usual high standard review. I'm looking to create a router insert into my workbench but the cost of most lifts is prohibitive to a hobbyist like myself. I'm reassured that the Banggood lift is the way to go.
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
At least it will cost less, but a Lift option is still a more expansive solution. Nowadays more and more routers come with a possibility to work in a table. That will be the entree level into the router table. I worked with a Triton and INCRA plate solution and was pretty happy with it as well. I also have a video about a comparison at my channel an still think the conclusions stand.

@HookedonWood 2 года назад
Hi David, It is a nice lift, but I think the woodpeckers should be, and will be more advanced. The workshop is in progress. I am on 60% now, but this is already very nice, so the trigger to finish it as soon as possible is a bit lower. But I will start at a new router table soon, and after the summer I will make my definite main workbench! Then some small upgrades for my drill press and miter station and I am pretty much done! But I hope I wil find something else to improve by then!

Hello. Love your channel and watched just about all your videos. Inspired by your black MDF/HDF work bench I decided to do the same and changed my workbench top to black HDF. I have one question though. What do you use the finish the table top? Or do you just leave it as is without any type of finish?
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
Hi, I would advice to finish it with oil. This makes removing the glue better. I use Rubio because you only have to add on layer, although I prefer two on my workbench. On small objects like my drill press platform I use Danish oil. This takes 4-6 layers, but the sides will be very nice and It will look really nice. But Danish oil you have to wait 12 hours before different layers so it is too much work.

For less money, just buy a Bosch router base. It has a built-in depth adjuster which can be set from the underside when mounted to a router plate.
@Erik_The_Viking
@Erik_The_Viking 2 года назад
That's what I use for my router table - cheaper and just as precise. I upgraded to a Bosch router just for that adjuster feature, which made my work a lot easier.
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
Hi Bob, A lot of routers in Europe do have this option. I even had it before. My opinion about that is, that it is an entree level solution. Not a bad one btw, and I enjoyed working with my Triton with INCRA plate. But in My experience it works not as smooth as a lift solution. So, as soon as you choose for a lift solution, you know it will cost more then a router base. But you will get something back in return.
@What_Other_Hobbies
@What_Other_Hobbies 2 года назад
I have bosch router with fixed base as router lift under bosch router table. It’s not better than homemade options. The table top is not flat, the plate is not flat, the inserts are not tall enough and not adjustable. The fixed base itself has limited adjustment range. You have to unclamp the motor and move to another notch. With that said, Jessem rout-r-lift II is US$219 on Amazon at the moment, and maybe cheaper from other vendors. This one is currently at discount at US$239.99. I would buy this one if it was under $180. Otherwise, jessem seems to be a better option and I can get it in 2 days.
@bobweiram6321
@bobweiram6321 2 года назад
@@HookedonWood The main advantage of a router lift is the ability to easily make course and fine movements. This saves a lot of setup time, but is it worth more than a Bosch router kit with a fine adjustment base? Is the savings in setup time really worth that much?

Also a good solution, a lift is never about the most affordable solution. I think you will get something in return, but it is never the most economic solution, I think the best alternative is a router with a base you can adjust from above table. Most of the models do have this option nowadays.

Simple design is a good thing in my opinion. This is one fine lift. I made my friend buy it about a year ago from rutlands, all he did for the first month is complain "no lock, chinese shit etc... yet all the work I turned on it (shaker doors for his new kitchen and couple of moldings) was perfect, in fact his set up is better than mine (jessem/festool). The only thing better on my set up is ls positioner (just the positoner, incra fence is weak). About a month ago I offered my set up to him due to me building new bench and building my own router lift/spindle motor and he wouldnt take it, he now thinks this lift and 2400w router motor is better set up and I agree. The fact is all brand lifts are waaay overpriced, and folks who think they can buy olf2 from sauter for this price are on some serious narcotics. If I wasnt building my own lift from scratch, this is exactly the set up I would go for incl 2400w motor and I would have no problem using it professionaly/several times a week. There is nothing a brand lift will do better than this, or quicker.

...most of which are made in China anyway and are not necessarily any better (and often rather worse, as other commenters have noted). Buying direct from China, cutting out the Western middleman, should mean more product for your money. The point of these reviews is that buying no-name Chinese stuff is decidedly risky; there are some great products buried in mountains of crap. This appears to be one of the good ones.
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood 2 года назад
I sort off agree with some of the comments. First In Europe a lot of these 300 dollar products do cost 450 euro. So, that is a lot more. I only do a review on a product and in this case, this is a nice product. I so not claim it is the best. Rutlands sell this exact same product for 350 dollars. So you can cut an awful lot of money for the same product. Also in some countries products like Jessem and woodpeckers are not available. So, for those who think this could be an interesting product, based on my experience I just can say it works perfectly. The rest is all too the viewer. If i could buy a A-brand for the same price, I probably would buy that too

I can understand. I would wait for a special offer that comes regularly. I use a Jessem Master now but to be honest, it doesn’t work as nice as this Banggood one.
