There are layers of disgust. The daughters underwear, wtf. I hope that girl finds an amazing counselor. I found an amazing counselor who honestly told me she wouldn't take advice from my mom!!
The mother is a sick, disgusting woman. The whole lot of them are, but for her to take and use photos and used panties of her daughter is next level disgusting
@@Aekbonita1986It's aweful but I think lonely people get addicted to social media and creating a fake persona for themselves online that they get lost in.
Totally agree. When she was pretending to be Jessie she was encouraging Brian to tell his work about Tom and how he was pretending to be 19 year old Tommy. She encouraged him to post screenshots of "her" conversations with him. Tom was destroyed at work and in the town. Everybody was laughing at him and he became an outcast because she was pushing Brian to expose him. Now Tom deserved everything he got, why shouldn't people know what a creep he is? but he killed Brian because of it. She knew Tom wanted to hurt Brian and did nothing to stop it.
Mary is an absolute monster! I also have a problem with the police not telling Jesse the situation. They said it themselves that Jesse was in danger because her lunatic mother was sharing her information, including her address all over the internet. Why wouldn't they tell her? Make it make sense.
Touche! They absolutely should have informed her of everything her mother did. The whole case is tragic beyond words. The daughter finding out through a article is so wrong. It's like law enforcement turned a blind eye to EVERYTHING that woman did. .,mmmiî
How was this not first degree murder? Tom planned it, told others he was planning it, and he carried it out. Complete insanity. Poor Brian 😔 and the real Jessie.
@sdraulitolito44 so you are blaming the victim? A young man for being attracted to pictures of a pretty young woman and words that made him feel special and needed? Who would have guessed that a middle-aged man would go so far as to execute him? It is a cautionary tale of many things, but help me understand why Brian should have known better?
This case sets the example for people getting catfished every minute of every day. Chat rooms were bad enough. Social media has become a cesspool of pure crap
This is from 2005. Anytime there is a technology that can make the world an easier place to navigate, there will always be someone there with nefarious intentions. That COW and PIG could have had each other and not hurt anyone. In this respect COW is really to blame SHE knew the facts. The families involved I am so sorry for. Poor Brian, had no chance at his happy ending 😢
My heart breaks for the families & Brian! 😔 I have zero sympathies for the twisted, bored, degenerates, who got their jollies screwing around with peoples lives & hearts! 🤬
Right. As AI and technology gets better, we just have to get savvier with it. I'm usually very on guard with stuff like that, but even I almost got had the other day with a legit looking email from a friend's account. Knew it was bs as soon as they asked if I could buy them Apple gift cards because they couldn't find any in store or online (sure lol) but the writing, the tone, grammar etc all sounded very normal for that person. I can now see why some people get taken by stuff like that. I just responded that I absolutely would get the cards if she attached a picture of herself with the gift I brought back from a recent trip and I never heard back (after the email said they couldn't talk on the phone because of a sore throat and what's why they were emailing lol which scares me that I thought nothing of that initially.) It's a crazy world out here.
At the very least Mary should have been charged with manslaughter. Also she was in a “teen” chat room. Underaged kids. This is the craziest case. I’ve heard it before, but your coverage is spot on.
What a plot twist 😣 It must’ve been like 1993, I was 13 y/o. I never had a boyfriend or a boy that really liked me. I was on AOL Chat Rooms and one day this boy messaged me. We would chat a lot!! We traded home addresses to send picture and a letter. My Brother found or opened (I can’t remember) but when he saw the picture of the teen boy. He yelled “This photo looks like it’s from the early 80s?!!! You gave him our address??? He’s probably some old dude!!! Never again will you do that. You could get kidnapped and God knows what else” My Brother was 4 yrs older than me. I cried and apologized and felt his fear. He got online and deleted him. I never did that again. 🥺 Now that I’m older, I’m positive my brother was right and I was catfished. I take that with me until today!! Stay Safe Peeps!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽💜💜💜
If it makes you feel any better this happened tor too. He was a biracial German guy and I was 20 and in uni. His photos looked too great, like professionally taken in the 90s. We video chatted and when he turned around an old fat white guy glitched in and out. He later told me he was 40s instead of 20s then my friend deleted my account for me when I started getting swept up in his weird passport bro narrative. I don't know how it works to be biracial (Kenyan here) but he told me that really was his younger photo and he got lighter with age and eventually shaved his head clean coz his hair got coarser. To this day I still am not 100% sure what really happened but am thankful I had good enough friends to check each others weaknesses and delusions.
@@availanila. i’m biracial half black and half white and i guess you could get lighter with age but i don’t think it would be by much and for me my hair has gotten less coarse but i’m 20 so idk how it changes when your older. but that’s crazy
Hard to believe this is even a real and true story, it is so bizarre! They’re both nuts honestly, living in a twisted fantasy world. Yuck! So very sad it cost a young man his life.
I don't think so because even though both are pretty much the same person just different genders I think both wanted someone younger. I'm sure the eventual hope was if one went and meet the other that they would believe there love would overcome there lies lol. Both were just lonely adults going through mid life crises who became hooked on the internet and the fake persona they created to escape from what they saw as boring reality.
There’s a documentary called Tall Hot Blonde, I watched on Netflix a few years ago. Not sure if it’s the same one mentioned in her comment. Crazy story though.
Yes I remember this. It was when this kind of stuff was just starting out. I don't know if they knew what to charge her with. I was young when I saw it..I was baffled a mom would use her own daughter like that😔
This was so crazy. It happened right outside of my hometown ( Buffalo NY). EVERYONE in this story went off the rails. Not the victims. But you know what I mean. Shame on his coworkers for not reporting Tommy’s behavior in due time. Sick.
I cannot believe the amount of catfishing that happened in this story, I've heard about it a few times, but never with such detail, thank you Annie, this story is absolutely insane
Mary should definitely serve time for her participation in this murder case. People are serving more time for drugs than murders these days. Our justice system is broken.
The way you present this case is realy good. The catfish, catfish the catfish. How bizarre! This woman is not quilty with murder but she needs to be punished in some way, even if its by endangering her own daughter. She practically adopted her own daughters ID and went to hell with it on these two men. She is disgusting.
That letter was cringe. my hubby and I just tell each other "you're stuck w/ me" or, "you know what you got into when you married me" lol. We are weird, but happy
This is the most bizarre story I’ve ever heard. This is like a scripted Lifetime movie. It’s hard to believe. A catfish who turned up to be catfished by the person they were catfishing. Wow
Absolutely absurd that Mary got charged with nothing and yeah, Mary absolutely is responsible to a large degree. She pitted Tom against Brian. Making it no secret at all that she was talking to Brian, knowing exactly how that would make Tom feel. She knew exactly what she was doing and poor Brian lost his life over a complete lie. Obviously Tom is ultimately responsible for what he did, but also NONE of this happens without Mary.
I’ve always found this case very interesting and listened to several videos about it on several different channels. I thought I knew everything there was to know about this case, but once again, you dug deeper and surprised me with all this new information! Thank you Annie for your dedication!
Everyone in this story is completely crazy. I’m having second hand delusional anxiety after listening. Mary should be charged the same way a man her age would if he was taking those pictures. Plus something like “Immense Criminal Grossness”…I cannot imagine finding out your mom did that to you. Poor Jessie.
This is the first true crime story I ever listened to on my Nook years ago! Totally got me hooked. Really cool to hear Annie cover this, awesome as always.
Girl, I live in Clarence NY and never heard of this! WTH so deranged. That poor young man and his family. Jessica’s mom should have been charged with endangering a minor at the very LEAST! Thanks Annie!
Mary is a child predator, and it's appalling that she didn't receive charges. I hope Jesse and Brian's family heal and they have found peace after all this.
@TinyStar-oz3bo Filming and photographing a minor for adult men is a crime. She was seventeen, and even if she had been an adult, she did not give consent. Exploitation of a child is criminal.
It’s despicable that Mary could do that to her daughter. It makes no sense that it wasn’t illegal that she took naked pictures of her daughter and then sent them to men. And Tom making up a whole new version of himself. And was the girl who Tommy raped real. Did he rape a girl??? This was scary
The catfish getting catfished on steroids leads to the death of an innocent man. This is a wild. I agree that I was thinking that “Jesse” was the catalyst in this entire thing! So for her mother to not be charged , at minimum, at minimum with identity theft is unbelievable. So many lives ruined for NOTHING.
I remember this case soo well. When the movie came out, i watched it with my daughter and her friend as it came on tv on the night of a sleepover. I let them watch it to show how you can’t trust people who you just meet online. My daughter who is now 15 still talks about just how much of an impact watching the movie years ago had on her. And just how careful it made her. Luckily my daughter has a massive group of friends who meet daily outside in person 💃
This is absolutely wild!!! Thank you for deep diving into all the cases you cover. Your hard work and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. We love you Anne! ❤❤
40:40 Unbelievable!!! What a twist! I’m so happy you waited to spill until later in this episode. I had a suspicion but wow. Well done Annie. So well done.
@@humblegamer7876& Why are you here? 😅 😂 That's pretty hypocritical to say "you guys" while trolling the comment section on a true crime video uploaded by a true crime content creator. Just bc that's why you watch doesn't mean that's why EVERYONE watches.
@@humblegamer7876 please keep your reasons to yourself. I worked in a courtroom for years and I really don’t need to watch this stuff if that were the case. Victims that aren’t remembered, died for nothing. If I die because of a troubled person, I would want Annie to tell my story so that I, as a person, am remembered.
@@humblegamer7876 you're funny. I don't know why you're following this channel and bugging people in the comments. I'm sure you have more productive things you could be doing. go do something you enjoy instead of...whatever this is lol
I can’t believe this story is close to 20 years old. I remember when this happened. I was closer to Brian’s age and the idea of a 40 something hitting on a teen was gross, and the feeling has exponentially grown in the 20 years since, now that I’m closer to the age of Tom and Mary
This case is the be all end all of all cases to do with internet “relationships”. This poor young man being the ultimate victim of two sociopaths who manipulated each other and created a nonexistent relationship and love triangle that irl never truly existed! I’m so sorry for Bryan’s family and sending prayers for their loss😢 I’ve never seen a more twisted case than this one. I truly believe that the mother of this young woman who was exploited her deserves jail time! In fact she doesn’t deserve the title of mother! Praying for her daughter to heal and get counseling to help her push forward from this horrible trauma 🙏🏼❤️
I knew it! I've read too many murder mystery books evidently. Lol. Holy shit y'all! The mother absolutely should've been charged for the exploitation of her underaged daughter. I feel so bad for the real Jessie. Her Mom betrayed her. Thanks for bringing this story to us, Annie. Keep up the good work. We appreciate it and you.
OH MY GOD. Right when you mentioned Brian being involved - I just had this feeling and said out loud “how funny would it be if Jesse is catfishing them too” MY JAW DROPPED when you said she was at the end! Also what a disgusting and revolting mother.
It’s crazy because I don’t like FaceTime people I don’t know, until I get to know someone but at the same time I could understand someone wanting to FaceTime someone so they can know who they’re talking to. Complication with online dating.
What in the actual fuck?! My head just exploded... Dead ass So this poor teenager Brian is actually the victim in an this fuckery?! That poor kid.. . And put our Jessy!!😮
Pretty scary how easy it is to catfish. We probably all have been catfished without even knowing it. The show "catfish" on Hulu even showed that people will go to all lengths to keep a lie going. Some catfishes would have friends of theirs to the video calls.
