"Abraham cut into 3" is how you point a finger at all 3 the big monotheist religions in one go. It is amazing how much it says and conveys in so few words. This song is a very powerful critique of religions and how they have been used as weapons of discord and misery in history.

Wick the bust at the beginning is the Greek god Pan. V3T great eye as there was a nautilus shell in the primate's eye, the nautilus shell a representation of a Fibonacci sequence. Usually the half man half goat race are called fauns or satyrs; in this particular case though that one was the old greek god pan. So while he personally is of the "insufficient evidence either way" types, he doesn't spare any effort in calling out the actual bullshit of organized religion. So I'm pretty sure Wickster can rest easy, I don't think that was baphomet, and even if it was then it was there as another example to be poked fun of along with the rest

If Wickster was talking about the symbol with the horizontal line between the upper and lower parts, then that is an ancient cuneiform symbol meaning God/nature (the upper part) & human (the lower part), which makes sense as the album is called "Human.:II: Nature."

Baphomet is actually a rather interesting figure. The Templars were accused of worshipping Baphomet during the Crusades and it was claimed that they kept a severed head through which this entity communicated with them. Of course, the fact that the (high-ranking) Templars tended to be filthy rich might have been the actual reason for such accusations, so that their riches could be confiscated. In this case though (as others have pointed out) the god depicted is Pan, a Greek nature god associated with - among other things - woodlands and improvised music. His name is also the root of the word "panic", as he could cause panic in those who disturbed him. He was also quite... amorous, to put it mildly. I can't say that I've listened much to Sepultura, but some that have feel that the guitar work in "Tribal" is reminiscent of Sepultura's "Roots" period.

Don't fret, Wickster, it's not Baphomet, it's just the Greek god Pan. However, the song is heavily critical of religion, but everyone is entitled to their beliefs, right? Nightwish is an explicitly atheist/secular band: no God, no Satan, instead evolution and science.

Oh man, where do I begin. Yup, that's a nautilus in the eye of the skull. The gargoyle is the Greek god Pan. The song is about the 100s of millions who have been killed in the name of religion. "My God is greater then your god so you have to die." It's about the way people allow religion to be used to drive political agendas. It's about the tribal nature of organized religion. It's not about personal spiritualism. It's about people allowing themselves to be lead against their interests in the name of religion, to benefit the leadership. Y'know it's about how the evangelical movement is mostly about sending money to the leadership so they can buy another yacht, mansion, mistress, or private jet. Five centuries ago, monasteries earned much of their revenue by selling indulgences. It amounted to, "Give us money and you'll go to heaven." Nothing much has changed. The gullible get their wallets emptied and their children get sent to die in unnecessary wars.

Although it is great to have the ability to do a Master Passion Greed as well as While yourLips are Still Red. You guys probably haven't done either one of those yet, but yeah. In fact all three of yous would probably like Master Passion greed. Might be their hardest song, but there isn't a live version and they will never do it live because of what the song is about.

The head of Pan in the video also has a relationship to Bacchus (God of Wine) with the grapes on his head - and also the "Bacchanalian" as his ritual - basically sex, booze and music!!! Centaur is half horse, faun is half goat, Minotaur is half bull. Horned skull with grapes and the like is usually attributed to Dionysus and MAYBE Pan. Baphomet is usually represented by a ram's skull and pentagram.

Baphomet wouldn't have grapes and leaves on his head (Pan) . Besides, there is no proper description of "him" because his description was given under torture of the Knights Templar by King Philip accusing them of idol worship so as to get their riches. It was a fabrication based on torture so I wouldn't worry Wickster. I'd be more worried about the skeletons, they look highly organized.

Definitely not Baphomet as mentioned previously - it's Pan, the ancient Greek god of the wild, mountains, music too I think. Hind quarters and horns of a 🐐. But religion is a difficult one isn't it - it's very easy to offend - personally speaking, if I was Tuomas I'd probably do all the Creation stuff but leave out the criticism of religion. I say that because when you get to a certain age , get a little life experience which of course sadly involves the passing of Family members (my Uncle recently died of Covid) , there are so many people who take great comfort in their belief systems and you kind of feel it's unnecessary to attack that via songs like this and Weak Fantasy. Don't get me wrong, I love Nightwish, I have tickets to see them on consecutive nights here in the UK! Great reaction once again - look forward to more!

To addresss your intial questions, this song is only a few months old so no live video (yet) and no "music video" per se, although they did release similiarly themed lyric videos for all the songs with vocals and IIRC 2 got regular "Music videos" treatment...check out "Noise" video..., and perhaps you want to check the lyrics on that one before to follow the message....very entertainig and well produced video.......as for the drumming Kai had to add 5 percusion instrumenst to his kit for this one......also the hardest I have ever heard Empuu go on guitar.......... one of your best reviews for one of Nightwish's best new songs......feel bad for the dude on our left......seemed bummed by the alleged Baphomet and was very quiet on this review....it's Pan....there's also a song "Pan" on the album as well.....I could be wrong but I dont recall Nightwish ever getting ino that whole Knights of the Templar thig with Baphomet......give it another listedm given the way I have seen you react to other videos, I thnik you will really appreciate how hard they go.....may I suggest "Scaretale" for Halloween....the middle singer of the Nightwish Mount Rushmore sings this......as great as Gloor and Tarja are....Annette is perfect for it.

The bands anti religion rhetoric is a little off for my taste. But if you can squeeze a great song out of it then i say go for it. That is not Baphomet. It is pan. Some also say he could be the green God of pagan religion. This song is meant to make you think. Yes about religion. It before ngs up how it has been used by many to force others into belief. In my honest opinion, religion shouldn't be forced on others. As my ex-sister-inlaw tried to make my brother change religion. Your beliefs or lack thereof are on you. Yes, you can teach others and speak YOUR truth. Forced religion has caused some seriously bad situations. And there are those who are very staunch in their belief that you must believe their way or else. Christianity has had a reformation. It isn't the violent religion it once was. Then you have Islam, that still believes in stoning women. Very excellent song in my opinion.

Musically this is a compact masterpiece. Personally I'm not so fond of the too harsh anti-religious lyrics there. But as I said, this is heavy and also quite a funny ("The Skeleton Dance"). There's never too much humor in metal.
