First thing I noticed is the size of the bear. A grizzly (or at least one old enough to hunt) should be at least twice that size. In addition, you can hear the guy make a noise in slow motion but nothing from the bear who would be huffing and puffing like crazy.

If the first one was actually CG it's the best I've ever seen in my life.. I still can't tell.

This reminds me, once driving down to my parents' house a hawk dove into the side of the road and flew off right in front of me with some small rodent in its claws. I was amazed by how clear the silhouette was and how much I could parse in the instant it must have taken. I've run into situations a lot where I try to take a photo of something and only then notice how much my brain was compensating. Sense of scale for large trees, or ignoring the surface reflections for fish in a pond, stuff like that.

@@adamsbja Yeah, the brain does Insane "post processing" of what we see, we can compare it to a smartphone, with their relatively bad quality cameras and the software doing a huge job, our eyes aren't anywhere near as sharp as that of an eagle, hawk or whatever, but thx to our big brains we can still see the world in a decent quality, the compromise is our pretty bad "input lag", the world we see is about 50 ms in the past, but its not a big deal since our brain can also compensate the delay and predict movement of things

@@4Sandrix there is no way the the drone pilot would be able to get an identical shot the second day, there would always be differences between flying one day and another, the only way that would be possible, would be if they towed out a camera crane in the forest, or a robotic camera arm on a dolly track, but I don't think they would bother doing that, as it would cost alot, and would just not be worth it, like they said in the video, its just a trained bear.

@@scraberdash4286 Clearly post, if he was shouting that loudly in the woods, his voice would echo off the trees. And bears can outrun humans. Running straight away from a bear is the first thing you are told not to do. Some of them can run up to 35 mph, and running makes them think you are prey.

That I think is the biggest tell. When you look at 4-legged animals average and top speeds they can easily catch up to most humans. If they were being chased, I think it would end quickly.

Reminds me of videos of cheetahs 'hunting' dumb tourists getting out of cars. You would KNOW if a cheetah is serious about eating you because it would be outrunning Usain Bolt. If they trot over to you like a horse they are just being curious. They're not the sort of animal to randomly bite you either. I can confidently say this because in my work at a wildlife rehabilitation centre these completely wild cheetahs would happily come invesitage your scent while you pick up their poop.

So many things are "easy" according to people who are completely incapable of doing them. Back in the day, I'd hear people disparaging realist artists (painters) as not being true artists because "anyone could do that" and "if you want a realistic rendering, you might as well just take a photograph" - because, y'know, photography's not art either and anyone can do it easily. And of course, they're never going to put their money where their mouths are and actually *demonstrate* how "easy" these things are because - you know - such easy things are "beneath them" so you just have to take their word for it...

I admit before properly studying art i used to have those thoughts too, that photog has "cheats" because you can take a lot of photos, that digital art is easy because you have unlimited erasures, etc. But after going through art school and being exposed to almost every discipline (including music design and even fashion!) I was shown my place to say the least. And while i don't necessarily want people to get humiliated, i do think some need to get humbled quite a bit.

@@J33zas If you can't scare the bear away by yelling and raising your arms to make yourself look bigger, then you drop to the ground, play dead, and try to protect your vitals. If you manage to stay silent and still throughout the mauling, the bear might lose interest and leave. That's your best and only play.

Oh yeah it was totally a trained bear and owner being shot for cool video purposes, the guy didnt look remotely scared, he looked back like you do when you're play-chasing with a pet, I dont think they mean its "real raw wild footage" they just mean it aint vfx

Also, this is a rather "small" bear, compared to a full size black bear, a grizzly or even a brown bear. This could very well be a youngling black bear, hand fed and trained - it just would behave like a dog. And just like a dog, you stand no chance to outrun one of them - they get very, very fast. If this bear wants to catch you, its gotta catch you.

The guy was running with a hand in a pocket. If you're running for your life you would not do that. My bet is that they are friends. Other issue is that the guy looked back at the bear when he had the drone right in front of him... those things buzz pretty loud, your attention would draw right into it. Dunno. Seems like the only thing added was the sound.

A lot of other comments are talking about the use of a trained bear and how based on the way the bear is moving it's not actually aggressively chasing, more so this was likely the bear's handler taking it for a run and they decided to get some cool drone footage.

@@Leongon The whole video doesn't make sense. Guy running casually? Drone just happens to fly by in the exact moment? No information on the entire video about why, who or what? Yeah, it is staged, 99.99%, but I'm not a bear expert to claim how well bears can be trained to act in this way (fake chase?). Great shot though, I just wish people would be more upfront about what their videos actually contain, since this stuff tends to spread like wild fires. Hint: Don't run away from a bear and don't climb a tree, unless you know this particular breed of bears doesn't climb trees, I guess. At least that's what I learned...you can't outrun a bear, you can't fight a bear, you can't escape a bear. You just move away slowly without turning your back and play dead and hope for the best if it comes after you. But maybe that's already outdated info...thank god there are no bears in my country ... only stupid boars that I have also never seen ... luckily.

@@Diree No bears in my country either, but I know Black Bears are the ones that are ridiculously good at climbing trees, which seems to be the one in that video. Also pretty much any animal can be friendly and go for a job with you if you raised it or managed to befriend it and understand their body language to know when they don't want you close. There are shark experts that can tell when a wild one is coming close from pure curiosity and when is hunting, and they do enjoy being pet, so the guy being friends with that bear is actually the simplest explanation ;D

No doubt the bear is real but the bear isn't acting like a wild bear.

Isolation without anyone both people realize how much they miss each other, events happen they see the pros in each other again back together. Happy ending Action - Badass/Multiple badasses Boom boom action plot, guy or guys set out to win some shit somehow some way, battles, (action is pretty self explanatory) I can keep rollin but theres too many genres/subgenres to lay out but you get the point. They really do follow all the same plots. Humans don't lack creativity but Humans don't like change, and majority of the average joe likes to keep things the same, they much rather prefer to watch the same shit. (Programs/Programming) Literally lol. So many subliminal shit that is so low key within shows/movies too to program societal ideologies. Have you ever tried to talk on the phone with someone whos watching TV at the same time? They literally zone out and cant speak lol.

Super common in some parts of South Africa. Some golf courses are on river deltas or incorporated into marshland because you get the greenest grass with the least irrigation there. The crocs just love the nice ponds scattered across the course, and they get plenty of food from the large birds like ducks that live there.

Its all about what you are trained to do. They are CG artists, their job is to focus on the small details to make a believable shot. My job as an architect has me analyzing the design and materials of every building I enter. My sister is a biologist and she cant walk 10 feet without identifying a plant or insect next to the path. You naturally focus on what youve trained to focus on. Nothing about powerful brain or eyes, just practiced

When you work in the industry you train your brain to think like that

They're absolutely on point with their observations borne from experience. There are instances however, where common sense should alert us to staged video - for example, the girl skiing down the mountain seemingly oblivipus to a chasing bear would certainly have been using the forward facing camera of her smartphone in order to ensure she was properly in the frame. That's how you do selfies. Thus she would certainly have noticed the bear. No FX XP needed!

Maybe I’m stupid, but I watched the latest episode of the Book of Boba Fett and learning that Luke’s voice was completely artificial was insane. The deep fake was also very well done and my first thought was “oooh, 20 years from now this is gunna be tough”

All bear chase videos are fake, because if you were actually being chased by a bear, you wouldn't be filming it. If you did, it'd catch you. Same for most staged videos. So there's really nothing to debunk or confirm, so much as just analyze and critique, the point Wren makes at the end of the video.

there's this thing called animation software helping you with your animation, all you gotta do is move a part to the next position it should move to and the software will handle all the frames up until that point, then you just go back and edit anything that moves wrong lol

@@ToneSherpa it actually DOES look pretty decent if you do it right and not just lazily throw it together, you DO still have to do stuff manually, but the software can help you do it faster, i myself am just far too lazy to do that even tho it's really quite simple, it only looks bad if you DON'T go back and correct what the automatic framing did wrong, don't say something if you have no dang clue what the heck you are talking about lol

ps in real nature that bear would just dig into you no shaking needed he got enough weight to crush you so why bother also getting food in him as fast as possible is the more sane route aka he would grab your neck or head and bite down no shaking acquired there. we do not see the Harryhausen shake in nature it costs too much energy. yet when we see the Harryhausen shake we believe it because we like the dramatic.
