I REALLY don't think that was an interpreter. It looks to me like the footage used was from some other interview. I think what happened was that they asked some questions by email, got answers back by email, and then got someone to read out the answers over a video of the director talking about something else.

@tintinismybelgian

@@cpt_nordbart In some contexts, there is no difference between the two, but in other contexts, there can be differences. Where I would see the main difference might be that a translation seeks to preserve the meaning most literally between X language and Y language, but an interpretation seeks to bring clarity/explanation to an unclear message (not necessarily between different languages).

Godzilla is a great series to look at for visual effects, because it represents almost a different lineage of effects philosophy from what we're used to in American films. it's 70 years of filmmakers using every trick in the book to make something small look huge with relatively limited resources, and I think there's a lot to learn from that.

Whoever was translating from Japanese, that's REALLY GOOD. They understand the candidness when it's there and localize that to an american way of speaking. When I do marathons of Godzilla I do not leave it out. The effects are really great for the time and even though it's not the best adaptation of Godzilla at the end of the day it's still a great Giant Monster movie. This was peak Roland Emmerich. Also enjoyed Independence Day and Day after Tomorrow from him.

@@DanielWhitmer Well due to how the film did poorly in the box office with barely breaking even, it wuld make sense to still get a use out of the license. So using leftover ideas for the originally planned trilogy into the animated series. Guys, I saw Godzilla Minus Zero last night. It is AMAZING and I do not exaggerate when I say it's not a typical monster movie - it's a truly great FILM, with great CHARACTERS and the movie is really a human story about people you CARE about - it's about Japan in the wake of WWII, loss, grief, pain, regret, and Godzilla is the representative of all of that. He's the lead's white whale to his Ahab. This is the ONLY Godzilla film where I actually cared what happened to the cast and was worried for the characters. And Godzilla is TERRIFYING in this one. It's nothing like the others, it's a good movie even if you didn't have him in it at all, and WITH him it's just amazing. It's the best Godzilla film EVER - no joke - and one of the best films I have seen in the last DECADE. Go see it. Really. In theaters, NOW, while it's still out.

Also at the end of second Chronicles of Narnia movie there's a big water creature, so it might be cool to see what you think about that. The *last agni kai fight from ATLA* would be perfect for for the Animators React. It's so stunning! And for stuntmen react It would be cool to see you react to the duel from "Potop", it's really good sword fight

As a videographer myself, I was blown away how they used camera focal lengths to give the feel of people walking around miniature sets. And be sure to check out the sequences with the boat sailing on water. It's crazy how they had the foresight to make the water ripples appear huge since everyone in the movie is supposed to be tiny people. Overall a really cool use of visual effects in super subtle ways while keeping a consistent look overall. I would love to hear your opinions on how some of the shots were made.
