Very good review. Ordered my Vibram 2.0 trails a little while ago.👍

Jasper Vowden, in your video you should mention what it is that you do with shoes to justify your review. Do you compete in cross country events, marathons, casual terrain running 'and or' hiking etc.
@jasparvowden

Hey mate, I'm a personal trainer and I mainly compete in obstacle course races and ultra marathons. I previously trained in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and calisthenics but more so focus on endurance training nowadays

@@jasparvowden Good stuff! The reason I am looking for a pair of these or more for rehabilitation for my feet, particularly my instep. I have gone 1000s of miles (in the military) up against some really nasty terrain wearing Uncle Sam's lowest bidder U.S military specials. I tried a pair of the runners but found myself getting some hotspots on the heals, especially on my right side. That was me wearing them without socks though. Do you wear any casually that you like and what would you recommend for someone with 11.5 sized length with real wide feet for trail runners?
@jasparvowden
@jasparvowden 2 месяца назад
Nice one, for comfort I would say my favourite Vibram is the V-Run because it has a very breathable upper mesh and a little bit more cushion underfoot which I've spent a lot of time in the gym and also running in. If you need better grip though, you can't beat the V-Trail however you may need to go up half a size as there's more structure in the toe box and I've heard from other people that they've also had to go up half a size because of this
@jasparvowden
@jasparvowden 2 месяца назад
I would also suggest if you are new to minimalist footwear to slowly adjust to these shoes and maybe spend a bit of time using a release ball on the bottom of your foot to mobilise the tissue. Hope this helps!
@Tiebox
@Tiebox 2 месяца назад
@@jasparvowden Good input on the shoes. As far as the release ball, I will have to look in the pet department at the dollar store. They always have some sort of spikey looking dog toys. Hopefully I can find one that doesn't squeak 😁

Last question. Can you make a video comparing the KSO and the VTrail in sizing and fit - including toe pocket length? Do you use the same sizes in both models?
@jasparvowden
@jasparvowden Год назад
I like that idea, I have been thinking about doing more shoe comparison videos between the vibram and the Altra shoes so I'll keep that in mind! I have a smaller size in the KSO that only just fits my foot but if I was to get that size in the V Trail it would be too small so it probably would be a great comparison video to make to highlight those differences. Thanks mate, I always appreciate your input!
@DevelopingNL
@DevelopingNL Год назад
If your foot is 26 cm long? Why dont you use size 41 in vibrams?
@jasparvowden
@jasparvowden Год назад
I guess shoe sizing is never truly accurate and differs between brands. 41 would be far too small 😅

Hey, thanks for your review. I'd like to ask you if you find the fit of these smaller at all, compared to your other fivefingers? I've recently bought the v-alpha model and it fits like a glove in EU43 for me, barely a millimeter to spare on the big toe. And now I'd like the get the v-trail model too, for the added protection on rougher terrain, but I've heard some people mention the v-trail 2.0 fits a bit small. Is this your experience at all too? Also, do you ever feel the need to use toe socks in these? I've heard some people complaining that they get blisters in this particular model? I'd really prefer not having to size up if I can avoid it! Many thanks and best wishes from Sweden at the other side of the world - I spent 6 months in NZ some ten years ago, in Wanaka to be exact, and I'd love to go back to NZ some day :)

Hi Kristoffer, thank you for your comment! Personally I have found the V-Trail is a little more difficult to put on compared to other Vibram models because there seems to be extra stitching in the outside toe pockets however once the shoe is on, I find it fits the same as other models and I haven't had to change sizes of shoe for this model. And yes I would definitely recommend wearing toe socks in this shoe because the overall design is a little more rugged than the other models. I found the Injinji brand of socks work wonders! If you're ever in NZ again we can go for a trail run! :D I have a friend over in Sweden who is a triathlete and I used to do long runs with him as he prepared for his upcoming race, good times! :D

Hello! I experienced the same tigtness in Trail V2. 0, due to the material ! I jumped to size 44, and works fine for me! I never wear socks, by the way! I just lubricate my feet regularly and do completely barefoot walking sessions! 😀

@@jasparvowden Hello, Jaspar! Ι use Squirrel's Nut Butter during exercise and races and Happie Toes of the same brand, for recovery, afterwords ... On my early "barefoot" days I was using the Gehwol Footcream in the silver packaging! It helped with the smell a lot!

Are these shoes faster than altra trail shoes?
@jasparvowden
@jasparvowden Год назад
I believe over short trail runs these shoes are extremely nimble and fast but over longer distances you have to rely on natural strength and that's where the altras would most likely suit more people so it depends on the runner and how conditioned they are to minimalist running and their preferences

@jasparvowden I got my first pair a week or two ago and are a lil too snug to wear with injinji toe socks sadly but so far the vibrams only smell like funnel cake a bit lol. I'm sure that will degrade in a while lol

Hahaha I've never heard of shoes smelling like funnel cake before! 😂😄 That's a shame they're a little too snug, I've found the vibrams do stretch a little bit over time so hopefully they'll be OK with the Injinjis after a few runs

@@jasparvowden I'm not even kidding about smelling like funnel cake. I've somehow been blessed with feet that take a lot to smell bad. Shoes I've had for years or socks that I've worn 3 or 4 times are fine. These vibrams are my first shoe I've worn barefoot and I wind up with funnel cake lol
