This one needed the replacement of the entire governor assembly, including the shaft and the gear and the bearing caps. Brand new main spring, replacement of the spring drum because the gear was badly worn. New felt and some replacement screws plus the little rubber feet on the cabinet finished the project. The reproducer has been completely rebuilt and is the exhibition. I decided not to change it to the number two as I still had some rebuild parts in stock for the exhibition.

I am a 2 week new subscriber and am glad you are able to put this content online! We have 2 machines like this in the family and both need oiled and greased at least...but they have been protected from any harsh environment.. so noooo barnwood lol...Our Mother gave us the gift of music in the house and all kinds of music! From WW1 forward.. so please keep doing your thing and keep teaching us all...! Thank you

Those are such sturdy machines. I can only imagine a Technics or Audio Technica turntable still working after 105 years. Love the sound of a windup outdoors. There's probably only about an hour after sunrise that the mosquitoes would let me try that in South Carolina! Keep up the good work James.

I have disassembled and restored 3 of these, it was very rewarding. I learned what "re-amalgamation" was, and how to do it properly.

The Victor Victrola,4 is a good machine to learn. Nothing complicated, a lightweight spring, and nothing too heavy to have to move around if you want to flip it on its side or upside down or whatever. I always recommend this model to anyone who wants to get into the hobbyby way of fixing their own machine

@@Rockisland1903 Yes sir, I have the console model, it's loud as hell. I think they may have called it the "concert model".

Yeah that vehicular back up sound came through the video but it didn’t interfere when the records played.

I didn’t realize it at the time, Paul, but that is actually somebody smoke alarm going off. Nobody’s house burned down so I guess somebody just burned the toast.
