This video looks at the San Antonio Spurs and how Victor Wembenyama is about to have an elite year and be an MVP caliber season with Greg Popovich and their new point guard Chris Paul
CP3 and Harrison Barnes. Two veterans with substantial playoff experience. Both have been part of winning teams in the past and knows what it takes. The leadership and knowledge will be immense for the Spurs. I now actually have them being a low-seed playoff team.
I say they're a 37-40 win team. If Fred Van Vleet and Dillon Brooks can get Sengun and Jalen Green to 40 wins there's no reason why an old Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes can't do the same for Wemby and Devin Vassell
1. Vassel played the SG/2 spot most of last year 2. It's Sochan that is better defensively to be the 3-headed monster with Castle & Wemby 3. I like the hope for Wemby's stats to go up like that but not realistic imo. 28pts probs too high, no way is he getting 5 blocks. 2nd year more people will be aware of his presence and ability and I think his blocks will go down but defensively will be even better
You also have to factor that he won't be on as strict of a minutes restriction any more. He's also coming into this year much stronger than he was last year.
I don't understand why everybody's saying that this dude Castle is the point guard of the future. There's a draft every year right So who knows there might be a better point guard next year. I think they should just focus on one year at a time.
@sidney1234usc that's negative,. He is going to have one of the best passing guards of all time mentoring him for a full season. Look what Paul did for SGA in one year. SGA credits Paul for his game now and Castle's favorite player is SGA. We will see of course but he has an amazing opportunity to be the future starting PG.
@@p-square1430 I agree that it is pretty negative but my whole point of my original comment was we have to stop putting so much pressure on these players when there's literally a draft every year. Personally I hope he is successful in the league whether it's with the Spurs or another team. It's a dream to play professional sports.
Thats what i thought , not only that but the season prior he shot around 39% if im not mistaken. Vassell isnt the catch and shoot player he was coming out of college, he takes and makes way tougher shots. Dame shot around 37% for his career and hes considered on of the best 3pt shooters of all time.
There’s been other big men in history who were arguably the best player in the world within their first 2 seasons, Russell, Wilt , Kareem, Duncan but here’s the difference, those players came into league close to finished products with 4 or more colleg to develop their skillset/mature and back then big men mostly only needed skills within 10ft of the basket on both ends of the court because the 3pt line either didn’t exist or wasn’t used half as much so they didn’t have to play in a league that favors perimeter skill players. Think of the great future hall of fame big men of the last 10-15years when basketball started to modernize AD, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic. They weren’t close to as good as Wembanyama as a rookie . My point being Wembanyama could realistically be a top 5 conversation player by the end of this year and the best player in the world by his 3rd year but be significantly better by the time he reaches his prime between his 5th and 10th years most likely .
his blocks per game might go down, last season he lead the league in blocks because players don't know how good he is at defending, now that they learned they might not even try to shoot around Wemby lol
yeah, thats what people don't get when they predict he will average like 7 blocks. most great defenders peak in blocks and stuff early because they go for more highlight plays and attackers are still getting used to him. he might average 2.5 blocks next year, but he will still be just as good of a defender because of his presence in the paint making people go for ineficient middys instead of open layups
NBA Players been trying to avoid him all season and despite that he still averaged 3.6 BPG. In 2023 Victor averaged 3.1 BPG and as soon as the calender turned to 2024 he averaged 3.9 BPG. That do not look like something that teams have figured out.
The fact that you put Vassell in your “3 headed defensive monster” over sochan proves you have no clue what you’re talking about when it comes to the spurs.
Terrible start to the video, had to stop watching when you said Tre Jones wasn’t his point guard anymore As a Spurs fans, watching these unoriginal start-up NBA channels use Wemby for clickbait is getting tiring
Nice analysis! Liked. Btw what do you think they’re going to try to do this year? Make play in or do what they did last year and Ingeniously tank as Tim Bontemps put it recently for another top 5 pick?
For the people who believe Wemby is better than Paolo. Wemby should make the playoffs this year and win atleast 2 games. Winning is more important than padding stats. I need proof that wemby is really better than Paolo, we made Wemby our bitch for 2 games last season and JI sent him back to France
