I've played Korea in Vic 3 three times already, once in the pre-release "demo", once at launch and once in 1.5. Favourite minor power to play, love the early isolationism and siphoning off Qing for your own self interest. War was still scuffed back then though, not sure how breaking the market would work these days. Great video as always.

During 1.5, Qing was transforming into Heavenly Kingdom (so its law would change to open borders!) so often that you could get migration into korea when you stayed in their market

Isn't it possible to go for corn laws after breaking free from Qing? Or is the event not worth it any more this patch?

I wonder if this strategy works for 1.7, or if its much harder to get independant?

the pronunciation of "Joseon" is panful. the J is somewhere between an english J and a Ch, so Jo- sounds close to "nachos." the eo in korean is a single vowel, not two separate vowels, just doesn't transliterate directly. the -seon sounds like "sun" in english.

Another vital thing to watch out for is a rivalry between Britain and Russia at the start, as Russia will join against any play the British are in.

No matter how many times I try to replicate and copy the steps here, during the diplomatic play, they always back down.

Lol i declared on Bahrain for what ever reason the Ottoman helped them! I was scared! I play Iron mode! I got a Democrat monk,Russia was protecting of me and the GB were mad about the opinion! So basically i god the God roll! Taking Beijing was a cake! To going back to the Ottomans! I got scared 😱 so I'm thinking to back down to protect my run! No one wanted to helped me also so i double down and ask for war reparations and to recognize as a power hoping they back down! I naver back down so the war started! They did a naval invasion and I did the same! After talking thir war score to 0 i couldn't move more! The war keep making longer why war score started to come down so i got scared and i think let me se if i can invaded somewhere else! I started a battle front in the Ottoman lands ! Pure defense! I keep building battalion and sending them to help! It worked the Ottoman have me everything! First time i ever win again some big!!!! I have and addiction to play Serbia 🇷🇸! To the point i been playing Serbia every day for 8 weeks and i buy this game 8 weeks back! Fyi Serbian broke my soul ! Eventually i want to go back but i need to play other places so i can learn the game!!! Thx for your guidelines!!!!

I tried mimicking your strat but I can't set beijing as war goal for some reason. I only get the three manchurias as conquer state option even though I have northern china region marked as dip interest.

Please do Java then colonise Oceania and Africa.

Every time I declare war on Great Qing, Russia joins the opposing side and I get crushed. Any advice?

Great strat ! I had an issue though : the russians sided with Qing, and the british went to land them. I got stompted by Qing quickly 😂

In my first korea run, I stayed in the qing market for far longer with the goal of racing up the value added chain to cause them to prioritize raw goods over manufactured goods. Eventually I had developed my economy to the point that I was essentially treating China as my colony even though I was the tributary. The subsequent war for i dependence was a fair and square fight where I crushed them. Ended the game as a massive colonial power and #1 GP ☺️

I was wondering, but maybe in a potential DLC for the US (and maybe Canada, but more for the US), they should make it so, if you play your cards right, the pops have the American trait - like how we have Afroamerican, we could have Sinoamerican for Chinese pops, Italoamerican for italian, Irish-American for Irish, etc. Especially for Chinese migration to the new world, it would mean mixing all the Chinese cultures into one, potentially improving performance. And it would just be about making it so, e.g, Han pops would just get a cultural community, but the pops getting to the US themselves simply flip to Sino-American as soon as they get to America.
