The result is fine, no one will use such a small knife to survive in a jungle anyway, the test is definitely beyond the limit of the knife, still it's always good to see gears be pushed to their limit.
Just bought one of these for EDC, I'm a musician and sound technician in the U.K. for what I'd need it for (cutting strings, Zip Ties and tape) I think I made a good choice especially if it can take that kind of abuse on wood
Great so I can baton a stick that I could break in half with my hands. Good to know. Only kidding. Its nice to inow the limits as it gives you more confidence when using it for less abusive tasks.
If you keeper the blade at 90 degrees open and batton a little notch, then use a wedge you would be fine. Knife not meant for that use but it can be done with propper skill an knowledge. All tools break if you dont treat em right.
That's where you see what real quality is ... I mean , this knife is smaller than a TOOTHPICK and even if the pin broke , it still looks beautiful ... I always carry one on my keys, so if I don't have my compact on me , always have this little guy. Good video by the way bud!!
Great video☺️ thanks. Interesting to see how long it would last. If you made a little handle out of 🦍 gorilla tape you could have kept going and finish cutting that stick in half and the blade would still be fine.
I payed attention to when it broke .. and the last strike you pulled the knife back so only the tip was on the stick and then hit it closer to the base of the blade .. tear could have gone on if not .. guess what I'm saying is it was operator error and not the knifes fault given what what it's designed for .. good vid man I knows it's given many people more confidence in there lil sak😂
Hahaha thanks!! 😂🤣😂🤣. Yeah that makes sense in how it broke for sure. They sure are great little knives for the average small tasks but good to know they can take a bit of abuse as well 😎. Thanks
@@HammerIIHammer yeah I carry a field master daily hasn't let me down yet and honestly for my hands I have wide palms and Short fingers I don't think I would ever go under a 4-3 layer sak and the 91 mm fits perfectly in my change pocket I never even notice it's there till I need it
With other swiss army knives, guys usually put the blade out at 90 degrees from the handle (half-unfolded) which helps reduce the strain on the pins when batoning.
Agreed that will put less strain on the pin for sure. I try not to baton with my folders in general. This knife is too small to really baton anything without hitting the blade/pin/handle all in one tho 😂
Hi yes it is very durable for sure. This is a great little knife for a keychain just to have in case you need it. But if you are looking for a dedicated knife I would probably go with the climber, this is a good every day back up though.
@@HammerIIHammer Thanks for your help! I'll see, I'm still watching reviews. There's so many options! I'm looking for something light because I'm quite small and try to have a light setup when going out and about. But I don't like buying 2 things if I can buy 1 instead and have all the benefits (or most of them). We'll, we'll see. Take care. Ps: I'm considering the Rescue one as well, paired with the classic sd.
If you don’t mind the weight and size the rescue or trekker are both really good, about as good as you get before stepping up to a full multi tool like leatherman wave or p4.
@@Crina-LudmilaCristeaAuthor what you need is the compact. personally i have a rambler/classic on my keys and i carry the pioneer... but the best general knife is the climber .....but i say you shoud get the compact because it is smaller 2 layers...and still a fantastic knife. very popular and a layer slimmer than theh climber or the camper. ...but they charge a lot more for it as it is pretty much an in demand knife. the question you should be asking yourself is ...do i want scissors, a saw, or both..... if you want scissors...then the climber, or the compact (for a smaller knife). if you want a saw ..then the camper if you want both ...then the huntsman. all that said....the saws are beautiful...but i have never ever needed one...and the only thing a saw could cut that my main blade coundnt (eg via notching out or whittling down) is plastic pipe...and up to now i have never ever been in a situation where i needed to cut plastic pipe and didnt have a proper saw available ..eg at home. the real aim should be to get the smallest lightest knife that can do everything you need... i would personally carry the compact, but i want a better can opener, and the small screwdriver/phillips 2d...that comes with the climber or the pioneer.. im a bit different to most, but my can opener with screwdriver is probably my most used tool.
Pretty good test, but you may break the spring. If you want to do that, you better put it in 90 degrees angle. In this case the spring would not get damaged.
It's kinda painful to watch this... but if you want to baton wood you better use you folding knife at 90 degrees. I know, it is harder, but otherwise, you may brake its blade and / or its spring.
I know you were just demonstrating something but you should never baton with that particular Swiss army knife if you actually had to baton with it you should have put the blade in a 90° angle that might have saved on the pin from breaking
Agreed. No good way to baton with this one at 90 degrees because it’s so small but yes for sure if you can with a folder have it around 90 degrees or so to baton. Thanks
