Victrola Re-Spin review - Perfect or Problematic Bluetooth Record Player?

If you are just starting out, this turntable might be for you, but I can hardly see experienced vinyl nerds buying this turntable. The cartridge alone is pure torture for your records.

You are also sitting the tonearm down on its hook. That should be pushed off to the right. Rookie mistake.

Is it supposed to be super quiet?

The "plinth" is supposed to have some give for absorbing vibration.

Thanks for a good, fair look at one of the "cheapo" style players. They have their place, like in a kids bedroom as a first player. Gotta say man- you dated yourself with the VCR reference! lol!

A few things to mention. The white "upgraded" ceramic cartridge has the exact same internals as the older style with the red stylus and there is no replacement stylus available unless you contact Victrola, there is also no diamond stylus made for it. The auto stop works on 12 inch records but not many 45 rpm records, it stops too soon. The belt is a tiny bit too loose which can cause noise in the platter and some wow and flutter. If you want one of these it is best if you get a replacement cartridge with a genuine diamond stylus so it does not start ruining your vinyl after a little while of play time. I would also get a new belt if yours makes noise or has wow and flutter. I made a few videos with the Re-Spin, one is a teardown video that goes over the cartridge issue and shows what is inside with links in the description for a replacement cartridge and genuine diamond stylus, and the others show how I customized it with new colors.

It sounds like your belt is not correctly installed and it’s supposed to move like that it’s to dampen vibrations and also you didn’t mention the fact that it is a monophonic player and to get stereophonic sound you’ll have to use headphones or connect to an external system. It only has one speaker but also has a passive bass radiator on the bottom hence the better sounding bass. If you upgrade the needle and grease the spindle plus oil the motor it can actually sound very good.
