I bought mine a year ago and I’m still loving it! I did take mine apart just to see what kind of batteries were in it. It takes 2 3.7 V nickel metal hydride batteries and if you’re good with a soldering iron you would be able to replace them.

Hi Recorology!!!!!!!! I just bought this record player and have not received it yet. I agree with you 100% about it being on the ugly side, and I agree. The only reason I bought this unit is to ply 45's on, and I did not want to use my main turntable to play 45's and I was looking for something portable that did not have a ceramic cartridge. So I am hoping I like it. The fact that is had a much better cartridge and sound quality was the reason for the purchase

Sadly, my unit was D.O.A. when I ordered it just after Christmas. But a blessing really, as I was not impressed with the build quality and it was very lightweight. The device would turn on for around 15 seconds, then turn itself off. No charging or power from the battery either. Thankfully, I hadn't paid the full asking price of £199 here in the UK; more like £139. Currys, (one of our biggest electrical retailers here in the UK) gave me a full refund - no questions asked. So Kudos to them! I wasn't bothered about getting a replacement... I really enjoy you channel by the way! 👌👍

It's not only the magnetic cartridge. It's also the pre-amp, as a lot of suitcase players can sound even worse with magnetic cartridges if their pre-amp is bad. So it is safe to say that this unit is fine tuned for what it is.
@yodoglover400
@yodoglover400 Год назад
This is a little off topic here, but it's good info for the fans. The newest Crosley and Victrola suitcase players and maybe the wooden units too don't have the adjustment screw anymore for the auto stop. They have an electronic auto stop now. Don't know if there is any adjustments to it. I haven't had one long enough to see if any records stop before the end.

Finally, a real winner for a portable. Noting how it seems nearly identical to the Mykesonic fully automatic, but the Mykesonic substitutes "fully automatic" for "fully portable" (and takes away 78rpm). For me, this is the best "grab and quick-listen" machine that I can carry around the house or outside, and it was only $72 at '23 holiday time.

Love your channel.. the reason I purchased this player!! Having said that, it seems to be playing a bit slow . I asked Victrola how to adjust the speed… unfortunately there is no way to do so. I’ve seen videos on other units on removing the top unit .. there are not any obvious screws to me… any ideas?

Came back because I'm using this as my main TT while my Pro-ject is in the shop. I do wish the built-in preamp was switched so I could use my preamp or phono jacks but that's a small nitpick. Plugged into my 2.1 system this sounds great, if I weren't spoiled by the Pro-ject I don't known that I'd know what I was missing if this were my full time TT. Also I love posting photos of it to trigger the gatekeepers in Facebook groups ❤.

@geertvanpee9935
@geertvanpee9935 6 месяцев назад
For anyone who's interested: if your Revolution Go is playing too slow or too fast, you can get to the pots by removing about ten screws at the underside of the player (note that four of them are hidden under the rubber feet). Then the top plate holding the record player mechanism comes off and then you can get to the underside of the motor where the pots are. Unfortunately, I had to balance the top plate in such a way I was able to both play a record and tweak the pots at the same time ?cannot use a strobe disk being blind), but now, my player is playing at the correct speed again. By the way, I was amazed to see that the speakers are mounted in a separate enclosure that is in turn mounted on springs; exactly the same as how Vwestlife described it when he reviewed that Mykesonic player lately.

I have just picked up another one of these Revolution Go’s at a Curry’s store, here in the U.K. It was their last one - a display model but not used for around £58 [~$71) Hopefully have better luck second time round, my thinking? Nope! Still the same issue as the last one: not charging and turningI itself off after around 10 seconds. Seems to be a common fault. So tomorrow it will be going back to store for (yet) another refund. Think I will give up on these as a bad idea. Hope you’re having better luck with yours though…👍

@@Recordology PT01 is cool as it can run off of 6 D cells, making it a true portable. It comes with a ceramic cartridge, but there are popular mod kits to allow those who want to, change the tonearm and add a pre-amp board to accommodate a magnetic cartridge. It's got quite a cult following, and even comes in a DJ "Scratch Version" - I was so impressed by mine, I gifted one to my 6 year old godson as well as my 12 year old granddaughter.... Again, keep up the good work!

Thanks for this video! I am trying to purchase my first turntable and live in a VERY tiny NYC apartment. Was looking at turntables that have speakers included and this model came across my nose. I am trying to balance that I don't have a lot of space (so it being portable and easily storable is nice), but also wanting it to sound good. I am new to the hobby, so not ready for a total investment piece (but hope to get there one day). Would you go with the Revolution Go if you were me? Thanks again!
@stevenj2380
@stevenj2380 Год назад
How about a entry level turntable with bluetooth? You don't say anything to show need a portable like what is showed here. Some good names are available from approx. $200-300+, even Sony and Audio Technica, a recommended price range for you. Though there are higher and lower cost ones (I am prejudiced against "Vimukun" , "Angles Horn" and this "Victorla" stuff for less than $200). You can get the powered, bluetooth 'bookshelf speakers in a similar price range, and if there is no bookshelf space, find ones that are wall mountable, with brackets. These can serve you well for a long time, with care. NY NY also in a small apt. but with a lot of components.
@fleursseches
@fleursseches Год назад
@@stevenj2380 That's helpful. I don't need it portable, I guess. But I don't have the space to have it out all the time, so I like the portable feature so I could store the turntable when not using it. I don't have a table or desk space to keep it out all the time. I was looking for something that already had speakers, since it is another thing I don't want to have to add into my space, but appreciate the suggestions of other speaker setups. Thank you!
@geertvanpee9935
@geertvanpee9935 Год назад
@@fleursseches I think the revolution go will suit your needs perfectly. I also use the portable feature to be able to put it away when not in use and to set it up whenever I'd like to play records. So the not so great plastic construction should not be a problem as long as you are careful with it. And whenever you are ready to do some investment on a bigger speaker system, this player will still suit your needs for a while as you can connect it via a line-out or bluetooth so that it sounds great through your speaker system too. The only risk you are taking I think is that there seem to be some units arriving broken which is a shame for such a great little unit. I was lucky and so I am enjoying it very much!

I used to have a non-portable decent mid-range pro turntable that I upgraded an Ortofon Blue stylus cartridge to and hooked up to a 5.1 home theater sound system. Well when I moved to a new apartment I was worried about neighbors and if the sound would rattle the walls and bother neighbors. After going through many reviews and asking some friends of mine I got the Revolution GO and am not going back! I HIGHLY recommend it!!

I was, in a way, waiting for this one to see what your opinion was after using it for a while. I still have mine and it still is giving me alot of listening pleasure, especially using the vinyl stream mode connected with my stereo set. And yes, the build quality could have been better, but if you think of it like: "Well, I set it up whenever I want to play records and put it away whenever I'm done with it." instead of seeing it as a portable that you can take anywhere, the build quality is not a huge problem I guess. The cheap mechanism didn't cause me that much problems over time; the only thing I did to it so far is putting a little drop of oil on the platter and motor bearings to resolve an issue where I noticed a little decrease of speed once in a while. Eversince, it plays very well. Also, the voice prompts are great; I think Victrola should advertise that feature towards visually impaired people like me, it's great to know in which mode you are, what the battery status is and when a bluetooth device is connected. All in all, a great little turntable!

Lol, yes that's a guitar strap, theyre not just calling it that, even the strap buttons on the sides it attaches to, thats how guitar straps attach, and im going to amazon to find one with elastic in it as soon as im done typing this, that's brilliant. and as far as i know ceramic carts are still magnetic, or they wouldn't generate a signal lol
@OldMusicOnVinyl1
@OldMusicOnVinyl1 7 месяцев назад
Ceramic cartridges are piezoelectric. They generate signals not through moving magnets but through atomic displacement. The "cradle" on which the stylus cantilever rests vibrates against a small piece of ceramic material, and when its atoms are moved, they react in a manner that generates an electrical signal. Different thing altogether than a magnetic cartridge, at least that's how I understand it.

First, you need to deaden that room a bit. It sounds pretty "echoey". Second, very unlikely I would pick up that record shown in the video as I am not the least bit interested in that kind of music. Will be picking up Ad Infinitum's newest one instead off of Bandcamp. Third, yeah, that record player not be the prettiest one around, but for a small portable unit, it really does actually sound quite good for what it is. I don't have one, although I was tempted to buy one. I like the idea of one of the other poster's in that is is a nice unit to bust out if wanting to play some records, even if using it to stream into a larger stereo rig either via the Bluetooth streaming or using the line-outs, and then be able to pack it up and put it away when done. Also the added bonus of taking it to record shows and shops to be able to test play some records.

this a cool idea but to me the plastic case sounds brittle to me and I believe it will crack as it gets older ,why could'nt they use one of the suitcase design and put that record player in it it would be a little tougher than that cheap plastic they could slightly alter the suit case design just slightly make it longer to fit the speakers and keep the chrome edges to make it snassy looking and who is going to use cover to display albums it looks cheap ,I mean victrola has those cases to store your records made out of same material as the suitcase players to take your favorite albums anywhere my daughters have the same record case they can witstand bad handling ,so I agree 150 percent with your review of player ,battery does not impress me when that battery goes it will most likely be a pain to replace ,whoever designed this was not thinking in my opinion or does not understand the term portable ,in the 50's they had the suitcase design and were considered portable and with todays electronics it would be a lot lighter to carry around and could save money on a new design they could call it a surprise suitcase player new and improved ,I go to the walmarts where i live and I always see victrola suitcase and crosley players the are still selling them so just change the guts of with the new suitcase player with this one it already has the handle just add the side snaps for the strap handle see problem solved in stead of paying the designer big money for cheap you have a better alternative and use this idea for cheap well I'm done JRo
