WIRED should’ve done just one console a time with no games in it or any controllers attached to it then maybe more than 4 consoles would’ve survived test 1 and/or 2
Wired: Puts game inside wii drops it and put in another game forgeting there was wii sports in the console and says it was broken even thought it was screaming wii sports WTF if wrong with you guys?
Ps2: this will be easy Dreamcast: you sure? Ps2: im the strongest here Dreamcast: aight While falling Ps2: see i said i'll be fi... Breaks in half. Gamecube: he was always really stupid
red rings can also be caused be just overheating, mine's vent was covered be a wall and got a ring. but after taking of the shell, blowing some dust off, and putting it in a safer place, it worked fine again. and that same console works frequently well to this day.
Wii Sports was already on there... the Wii was totally the winner of that round. I like to see the 360 survive the drop WITHOUT being shielded by that hard drive. In my experience with opening them, the four plastic pieces covering the internals would have scattered like splinters.
MrLoneWolf009 Nah it really was because Sega wasn't as popular anymore, I still think consoles died with the Dreamcast anyway. I borrowed a PS2 recently and honestly looking at its game library it was really full of boring games. Only the gta series saved it honestly. The ps3 started a better era with graphics and actual gameplay, I think Uncharted was the top dog there imo, while on the Xbox 360 you had Halo 3.Today's console war I'm really not going to bother, every game is bland the new smash bros is the same as brawl only downgraded, and well I love my PC and I really can't find myself holding a controller anymore especially with those terrible button layouts.I really wish Microsoft wasn't so stuck up with their shitty console and gave us Halo 3 at least.
... the Wii Game Channel showed that there was already a disc in the system. You forced a second game disc into the system. That said, I doubt that the Wii would have survived the Battle Dew test, so the only difference it probably would have made was a fifth contender to die in the final round, but still... the fact that it was ruled out for not taking a second disc into the disc drive seems wrong.
***** I think it might have. It has fewer vents etc leading to it's innards. If too much got into the ports or disc drive then it probably would've ended badly but it had a chance. And they screwed it up.
I think a lot of these consoles were fine, OG Xbox just needed clip put back on, n64 needed a different *clean* console to test the console with The Dreamcast straight up wasn’t reading discs at the end and still won??
Did anyone else notice, at 1:56, how they listed the Playstation's release date as July 7, 2000? That's the date of the small "PSone" model's release-- the Playstation itself is a '94/ '95 console :P I was like "wait a sec, 2000? that... doesn't line up with my early childhood, and Final Fantasy X was a 2001 game... on the PS2..."
***** PSone is the tiny model that plays Playstation games-- it was released slightly after/ slightly before the PS2 (depending on region) vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/the-playstation/images/1/1e/PSone.png/revision/latest?cb=20140710122409
***** I'll take your word for it... Oh wait, silly me, no I won't! I have no shame in my hobbies and interests, and I'm 24, I've played games since I've had the cognitive ability to use a controller (half the time-- the other half, I was outside, running around, waving a stick around pretending it was a magical sword), and as it just so happens, I remember a difference in playing games when I was 5-6 compared to 10-12; realizing that a date is wrong wasn't a matter of heavy pondering, it was a very passive mental process that resulted in curiosity, and mild research, and pointing it out for those who are curious of the dates, so um... OH YEAH, this is the part where the winner says something like "suck it, biatch!"
Fridge logic: When you consider a gaming console inoperable despite the fact that there is already a disc inside of it fully working and ready to be played. Screw their opinion--the Wii not only survived the fall but was fully operable afterwards and therefore won the drop test.
It absolutely had Wii Sports in it and they probably ruined the disc drive by trying to force a second game in so their "experiment" was complete crap. Way to pointlessly waste perfectly fine consoles.
If you do this you have to make sure when they fall it doesn't end up one riding on another, it is VERY curious how both the DC and the Xbox360 survive being the ones that had some deceleration because scrapping by another console before impacting with the ground.
that poor Wii was sexually abused, it had an extra disc rammed in its mouth, force was definitely applied, I would like to testify for it since after all I was a witness to the crime, YOU BASTARDS HOW COULD YOU!
You dropped everything at the same time causing the consoles to crash into each other causing more damage/ or in the case of the 360 becoming cushioned by another system vs if you dropped them one at a time, causing your experiments & results to become null and void.
Depending on what you're looking for, I believe this was mostly for fun anyways. I mean, I don't really think "Can my console survive a 15 feet drop" is technically useful to anybody unless they, uh, live in a really crazy house.
7:22 they are trying to cram a disc in the Wii and wondering why it isn't going in, BECAUSE WII SPORTS IS ALREADY IN THERE! Also, they keep saying the 360 would red ring, yet the red ring of death is caused by over-heating, not physical damage.
I was surprised the Gamecube gave out, I've seen some practically ripped in half and will still work. Props to the Dreamcast though. As painful for me to watch this I'd love to see a rematch with even more systems thrown in there such as the portables.
+STPostma I smell bullshit on GameCube. The way it hit the ground could maybe affect the disc reader or video output, but the power indicator didn't even turn on. I hardly believe the impact could have affected the power input of the console.
I'd like to see one where you drop every single Nintendo home console at once (NES, SNES, N64, GCN, WII, WII U, NES MINI, SWITCH) and in slo mo. Please Wired?
I could barely afford one console and you guys ruined them so easily... YOU COULD HAVE JUST GAVE THEM TO ME, ALL OF IT... ;_; I'D TAKE GOOD CARE OF EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!
Dreamcast wins! The system that real gamers played while mainstream players and casual players bought PS2s with nothing worth play for two years, thus killing the Dreamcast and retarding innovative game design until indie game developers got noticed on Xbox Live Arcade.
Dream cast wins? Is that why it does 20 years ago? Also, "real gamers" has to be the most pathetic thing ever said in a RU-vid comment. "Retarding game design": first off, retarding. Nice. Anyway, if your only preference in games is "indie," then you're not a "real gamer." If anything, indie games have been flooding the market with shit since 2010
illuminatioracle You are stupid. They couldn't have done that on purpose. I doubt they are gonna get money off Microsoft considering the first Xbox didn't survived. What a pathetic excuse for a human being.
I'm very sad this team stopped uploading their smash videos. I have good memories of watching them back when I was 12, and I found this one especially entertaining. Sure, I love the Wii and see that it could have obviously passed, but they had to pass only one per round. If this ever gets remastered I'd love to see the classic NES and Sega Master system get thrown in, possibly some Ataris (These old consoles are extremely rare, so I'd recommend using third-party replicas instead of original ones) as well as the Xbox One, Wii U, and PS4. And just imagine seeing the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X and PS5 go head to head!
My favourite consoles are the snes, Wii, ps3 and PS1. My grandma always had a PS1 hooked up on the tv in the living room. The snes was the first gaming console I played. I still play it. THE WII HAD A DISC IN IT YOU ........
Sea gull I don’t see how an old Nintendo can be sold for 100,000 especially if you take into notice the amount of systems manufactured. Even the game and watch can be found for less than one hundred
