Ivor Davis has lead an extraordinary life! For an entertainment column for the New York Times, he interviewed celebrities like Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Tom Cruise, Muhammed Ali, Jane Fonda. He was in the kitchen at the Ambassador Hotel when Robert Kennedy was assassinated, and also covered the trials for Sirhan Sirhan, Angela Davis, and Daniel Ellsburg. He witnessed the riots on the campus at the University of Mississippi when James Meridith was enrolled as the first black student on campus. Three years later, he was there when the Los Angeles Watts riots erupted.
As if that wasn’t enough (!) Ivor was the only British daily newspaper correspondent to cover the Beatles first American tour from start to finish. He was given unparalleled access to them-on the plane, at their concerts and hotel rooms! His book “The Beatles And Me On Tour 60th Anniversary Edition” has Ivor sharing his memories of his times with the Beatles that year, and he 1965, when he covered the group’s U.S. dates on the west coast, and when he last saw each of the Beatles.
