Cơm Chay Ngọc Ý - If you eat vegetarian then you definitely know this place. A staple when it comes to wanting to eat vegetarian for a cheap price and a filling amount. goo.gl/maps/We7tyFegt5mRWkjL8
@@kieranbarry8193i have always wondered why Thai cuisine is loved by some ppl, imo the dishes are too spicy and generic in that sense, am I missing sth?
Vietnam vegan/vegetarian cuisine is the best in the world. Healthy and delicious. They care for each dish they cooked. I once live on Vietnam vegan diet for 6 months. Never regret it, taste so good. I don't even miss meats at all.
Vietnamese Vegan/vegetarian is delicious Yes, but healthy? not exactly. less protein and less mineral ( vitamin B12, omega-3, calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, and high-quality protein), seasoning has alot of sugar and oil to make it appertise, again, Its delicious but anything but healthy. I love them but it is a guilty pleasure.
@@goeticfolklore lets face it, food are good and bad for you, too much and you'll get sick, enough then you will be fine, healthy or not it is up to what you need from it, if it has that type of vitamin or fiber that you lack, then that is healthy for you, if not and you just eat it for satisfaction, then it is healthy for your mentality, eat whatever you want, just do what ever the heck that your body want then that is healthy.
@@nguenclimax4777 I said exactly what you said in different wording. Part of a healthy diet is about balanced meals. i.e. having all the protein/vitamins your body needs. However, a healthy "food" could be considered any veggie or fruit, which does not complete a totally balanced meal. It is a healthy food component of a healthy diet though.
So good, love the option of vegetarian food. Just love hearing Max speak Vietnamese.. I agree vegetarian food is quiet special - Meatless Monday could be a thing for you Max - thats if youre in for a challenge
That Arkansas shirt is still alive 😂😂 ... makes me want to bring my Texas shirt when I am there in Vietnam next April. ...6 weeks in Vietnam and some other SEA places......can't wait.... using your videos to help with places to visit 😀 thanx for the videos....keep them coming !
Boston had a bunch of Vegan Vietnamese restaurants. Absolutely amazing food prepared with love, one restaurant had 300 items on the menu! I am in San Francisco now and there is only one and it’s not very good... Thanks Max! Great content as always. 🤘🤘
@@linhdo1422 Glad to hear. I was in Boston about 20 years ago and loved it (loved it more than San Fran back then due to all the historical stuff)! Didn't recall seeing Asians, per se, much less Viets. :)
The first and also the last time I went to Vietnam was in 2005 when I was thirteen. It was a big family vacation with 15 other people or so. I didn't really get to enjoy the local food because our parents homecooked the meals most of the time. Watching your videos really makes me wanna go back and explore my home country.
@@damiann4734 Yeah they do, but it's the same dishes I get at home 😂 There are many things I want to try that my mom can't cook. I still appreciate my mom's cooking though! Even more so since I moved out hahahaha!
Another wonderful vlog. While my preferred choices of protein are still seafood and chicken, I do enjoy the opportunities in the vegetarian world. Really beautiful and what appears to be a tasty place to visit.
Thanks for the video, Max. I'm gonna travelling to Vietnam (first time as an vegan) in a few weeks and I'm already excited to see what kind of vegan dishes they have to offer.
If you are going to Ho Chi Minh City, look up Pi, they are vegan and have AMAZING food and I am a total carnivore. It's on Vo Van Kiet, I think the address is 17 Vo Van Kiet - I used to work next door at EMG -- you have to go through a driveway to get to the restaurant entrance and then up some stairs. Across the street is a place called HUM also another vegan place. If you go out of the center to Thao Dien, there's a place called The Green Box and not only is the food incredible tasting, it also looks like artwork. Plus it's a super cool space to just hang out -- note this is the area where most of the Americans in the city live. also next to most temples, there are usually vegetarian restaurants that often are VERY cheap and sometimes free if you give money to the monks. So sort of free. Just learn to say "khong thit" (kong tit) which means "no meat" and chay means veggies You are going to be in heaven!!!
😋 I... am...so... jealous. 🌱 Only $1.30 for an all you can eat veg BUFFET! Thank you, Bao, for introducing us to COM CHAY NGOC Y! My favorite vegan franchise *Loving Hut* Vietnamese restaurant here on Punahou/S.King location (near President Obama's high school and next to the Baskin-Robbins where he worked summers) have such flavorful veg food but just a bowl of "pho" is $17! 🙈 I've never eaten a meal there for less than $50! And yes, I've noticed that too, Max. So far, these vegetarian places have quite relaxed atmosphere, no hurrying, pushiness, or boasting that our food is the best, etc. Not to mention they all seem to have nice, clean seating areas 😏
BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU for the video Max! Shows how seriously you take your followers requests. The restaurant covered the entire Rainbow 🌈 in the dishes here. I am sure there is somuch more to explore in the veg food in VN.
Looking at the things on the walls I guess this is opened by a Buddhist follower/organisation? 30k vnd is really really cheap for a buffet even though its vegetarian.
Thank you for sharing Max. Such a cool buffet! I love that these vegetarian dishes are cooked as vegetables and not disguised as something else. Also, I'm with you on sour soup (canh chua). It absolutely slaps. It's versatile too -- you can do chicken, catfish (or sable fish), or vegetarian canh chua. I am surprised it has not crossed over in the United States yet.
Because most vegetarian/ vegan Americans just want vegetarian "burgers" "hot dog" "chilli con carne" "meatloaf" "lasagna" "meatballs" "fish fingers" & tasteless raw salads drenched in artificial fattening salad dressings.
Wow...haven't seen your vegan/vegetarian video for a long while! 😯...Definitely a like this time. 👍 Would love to try that "mắm chưng chay" and "mắm ruốc chay" with rice sometimes. I always love canh chua. Thank you for sharing this video. Hope to see more of it.
Thanks friend Max for the new episode of vegetarian food in Vietnam. Although thanks to You, I have that country on the visit list along with Thailand and Singapore, but IF THERE IS NO MEAT, chicken, beef or pork, no way.😜
This is not just any regular vegan/vegetarian local owned restaurant. Most vegan/vegetarian restaurant like this are designed to be cheap and affordable (even cheaper than a regular economy rice: com binh dan) because they started their business out of compassion as aspiring Buddhists. So far I haven't seen any vegan/vegetarian restaurant without a representation of Buddhism. They put their profits last, relying solely on customer's support to maintain the restaurant's ideal. They want to dedicate their restaurant for humanitarian cause, and encourage more people to eat vegan meals and reduce meat consumption (core Mahayana Buddhist teaching). That is why it is so cheap (so cheap that it is almost free). You will also see portrait of Buddha on the wall as well.
I have just discovered this other page of yours !!! I had no clue you had a second channel. You speak Viet so well, how long have you lived in Vietnam ? What made you want to relocate there ? Seems like a low cost of living and beautiful place. I would love if you did a Q and A video where you could talk a little bit more about your life and how you came to being a vlogger, I think we would all love to see that.
You should do a temple hop for vegetarian. See what they serve at various temples there. BTW, Dustin is now living in the city, maybe it's time you guys do a collab?
Well this was great..... My partner and I eat mainly vegan/vegetarian due to our combined dietary restrictions but i seriously cannot handle fake meat and i also cannot eat fried food... so to me this was just good honest food... we are heading to Vietnam next year and i have already been scouring and writing a list of places of where we could possibly eat... so thank you .. i can add this to my list .... any more suggestions would be welcome .......
Wow! That’s com chay are so gooddddd…. I haven’t had the man ruốc and the other man… They all look so good and healthy, and so cheap. The soft drinks here already cost $1.60 more than that meal 😢 Max, your Vietnamese is so good when you said (ăn cơm chay xong ăn cơm cháy)
Wow ! Only 30k for an all you can eat vegan buffet . It's almost given . Next time make a video on free vegan food at some pagodas in Saigon . Every first and 15th day of each Lunar Calendar month many pagodas in Vietnam serve free vegan meals to all visitors . That's the Buddhist way of promoting social solidarity and sharing in Vietnam . Donations are appreciated but not compulsory though .
