A good friend was getting rid of some shelves from their lounge. I saw an opportunity to turn them into a Viking bog chair. Perfect for sitting by the fire and gazing at the stars.

Awesome work!!! What happens if you don't do the 15 degree bevel?

It's more upright, and your weight is further forward. (some make them with out the bevel) I made a quick mock up using 3x2's and then measured the angle.

What’s that plane called at 5.57 please? Never seen one of those before! Really nice piece of work 👍

I've alway known it as a flexable sole plane. this was give to my by my Dad (89) who was given it by his foreman when he was an apprentice

Nice work but, What are the measurements?

Thanks, the back is 115cm tall from floor, and the top of the slot is 28cm from floor and 20cm wide, the total length of the slot through is 120cm with seat being 34cm front to back. (all approx give or take 0.5cm)

Nice work. Just one question. What's the angle cut at back of seat that rest against back?

how do you keep your jigsaw blade from angling? When I try to use mine, it always pulls itself in, angling the piece a bit.

Hi, jigsaw blades will always wander to some degree extent especially on material over 0.5" thick. Use a new blade and cut slowly on pendulum action.

Perfect for sitting at a bonfire. But..these chairs are from Africa. Not from the early Medieval (Viking) times.
