The Jingle Dress design was given in a dream. So was this dance. It is for healing the sick. Prayers for the sick and made during the dance. Fans are also called prayer fans. Waving them over a sick person while praying for them also is believed to bring healing.

Wonderful! Those drums are mesmerizing. I love it when the guys get to see Native American videos. They have the best reactions to them. They're enthralled by everything. Love Babu's comment about 10 out of 10 for everyone. 😄 They all were certainly very skilled. And those costumes take ages to make. Headdresses, eagle feather fans, dresses, moccasins - you can't just pick up an authentic one of any of those at a store. Oh, while I was looking them up, I found that the dance is a healing dance. The idea for the dress and dance is supposed to have come from recurring dreams to one ofthe holy men of a tribe. Two different tribes have the story; in one, it was the man's daughter who was ill; in another, his grandaughter. The women made the dresses and performed the dance, and the girl was healed. That's the brief Wikipedia version. I'm not Native American, and haven't done any serious studying.

I wouldn’t call it the best reactions, I didn’t even start watching yet and they’re already being offensive with calling it hilarious in the title and Babu making monkey-like sounds over their chanting in their language… that’s just insulting…
@monicapdx
@monicapdx Год назад
@@Cassxowary Well, I don't know about the hilarious; that sounds like an Engrish sort of goof a non-nativespeaker would make, thinking he was expressing it as an intense reaction. Just got the wrong word. As to Babu joining in, are you so jaded that you can't see when someone is excited enough they're trying to join the performance they're watching? Feeling it so much they want to participate? Or have you never sung along, stood up and danced, swayed rhythmically, or even merely tapped a toe at a live concert? If you haven't, I feel sorry for you. Babu was simply so moved he had to try and join in. He doesn't know the style; of course he sounded a bit odd. Give him a few days listening to NA drumsong, he'd fit right in. He's a musician, for ghu's sake. They sing along and constantly learn new styles. The Native Americans would have felt honored he wanted to sing like they do.

Agreed, so many people love to disrespect my culture and mock my culture as well especially the sacred of MMIW (Missing Murdered Indigenous women) we have been mocked so many ways and times and we even have the people in the African American community trying to steal out culture and claim that they are the aboriginal to the Native American land, I’m not sure how long my native brothers and sisters are going to put up with it but thank you for appreciating me and my family and my people and my native people culture and our land

Someone should send these fellas some First Nations ribbon shirts, women wear ribbon skirts, they're a symbol of heritage, pride, resilience, survival, and honor. They can be worn as a way for Indigenous people to represent themselves, their communities, or their individuality. Non-indigenous people can wear them as long as protocol and honour of the shirts/skirts are followed, they're like a Kurta or that red traditional one Raeen made for Badshah. Non-indiginous people should NOT wear Regalia though, headdresses and whatnot, you have to be First Nations to earn those, like belts in martial arts. I have one, it's turquoise blue with red, orange and white ribbons horizontally across the chest and a black bison outline over a chevron motif that matches the ribbon colours on the back shoulders. There's a native drum circle in the park right outside my apartment windows, they have pow wows there all the time so I can put on my ribbon shirt and hang out.

We love Babu I think we'll all agree but I was very interested in listening to the singing/chanting and drumming of the Native Americans in the video. I know he loves music and this is supposed to be their natural reaction but I found it irritating trying to hear above his off beat clapping and noises. I wish it had been explained to him that they aren't grunting in the video, the sounds they're making are their custom and an important part of their culture that should be respected. He may not realize when he does this throughout many of these videos he's inadvertently disrespecting them. I think if someone took the time to explain it he might tone it down a bit. He wasn't nonstop talking, clapping and singing for a while when he began on the channel. I'm starting to think someone told him he had to liven up and he took it to the extreme.

When I watch this video, I see three uneducated tribal men who do not understand English or native American languages and do not understand either culture. Despite this, they still try to interact with what they are seeing (which may be a part of their culture), while offering compliments and expressing their enjoyment throughout the entire video. I did not get a sense of sarcasm or notice them intentionally insulting anyone, quite the opposite really. I find it interesting that you choose to see something entirely different...
