I remember watching an Ace Darling vs Devon Storm match in the early days of the lightweight division. It was always exciting watching guys on TV that I only read about from the Apter mags. And yes, the WWE always ran it's lightweight division as an afterthought.

What did WWE think of it? Hornswoggle was the final champion of that era. Who is the wearing that purple belt now?

If I remember correctly, London bled at the same month where Cena and JBL were building towards their I Quit match so it makes sense for WWE not to have 2 similar bloody fueds.

When Paul won and before, all the cruiserweights did back flips and run the ropes and that’s it. It was bland as fuck.

I always assumed that turnbuckle spot was a work.

Say what you will about wcw, they at least put effort into the cruiserweight division and treated it with a little respect. Vince showed the cruiserweight wrestlers zero respect. Just because they did not look like Lesner. Shameful. The cruiserweight division in wwe deserved better.
