I've been hearing from other people with similar specs to mine that they didn't have any performance issues so these hiccups may have been only on my end. Anyhow, this is an early version of the game which will definitely be improved on, the developer is working hard on it. I'm sorry if this gave the wrong impression to anyone, I am still excited for this project and want to see it do well.
I've been noticing your computer having a lot of CPU hiccups, Vinny. Not sure what it might be, maybe some program or something just being shitty on the background, or thermal throttling.
For those not in the know, what happened here wasn't a problem with the game itself, but rather Unity, which IIRC also happened to Risk of Rain 2. Dev's currently working to fix the issue but it is woefully inconsistent which computers it runs fine on and which ones it doesn't, hence why this wasn't caught sooner; pretty much everyone who played it prior to this stream said it was fine. Ideally, if Vinny tries it again, he won't stream it on Sunday, when chat is out for blood.
The Fantastic and Fantabulous games are the first Vinesauce videos I watched and got me into watching every day, many years ago. In addition, I've been following the development of this game closely through fantabuloso's tumblr. Needless to say, I was sad to see this stream go this way, but I understand the concerns for this game. Here's to a better version in the future and much success to this game!
I think for me, it was the Super Mario Kart corruptions that I saw first. At that point, I just assumed that Vinny was one of the dime-a-dozen ROM corruption artistes. But Fantastic Game was recommended shortly after. Then I learned of the potential Vinny had for shitpost-greatness.
My Vinesauce experience has finally come full circle. I got into your channel because of The Fantabulous Game, and now it is a full game. This is awesome.
Really proud of how far this developer has come. I've been following his work on his blog and while the demo may be underwhelming, it's astounding how far this game has come. Really glad Vinny tends to be level-headed when it comes to giving criticism and I wish more people were constructive rather than destructive with their criticisms. I guess being helpful isn't funny enough for some people.
This is why youtube removing annotations was a huge mistake. The pinned comment explaining how the performance wasn't completely on the game should be posted on the video because no everyone is gonna see the pinned comment and are gonna get the wrong idea. The game looks really good in it's current state and I really hope to see it improve and get the support it needs.
I remember the streams of this. I was still pretty new to Vinesauce and the Internet, it took 2 years of sporadically typing "Vinesauce" and "Vinny Pelikuni" key words to understand how Google, RU-vid, and streaming worked. Happy to still see this journey of a game worked on.
I hope they really polish up this game. Its got so much potential and I'd love to see the silly game ideas that were spawned from the egg-likes seen over the years of this stream become a full fledged game.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned on the stream, but for those not in the know, this was under development as "The Fantabulous Game" until a few months ago and was basically an entirely new game with some really ambitious features. A few months ago it was determined that the game had been taking too long, and so development restarted under the name "Fantaria" using most of the assets from The Fantabulous Game but dropping a lot of its mechanics and planned features. Fantaria, as I understand it, was designed as a remake of "Le Fantabulous Game" unlike TFG which was something entirely new. As such, some of the lack of polish here and there are probably in part due to the game's development restarting and the fact that it's really only been in development for a relatively short while.
This is how I found Vinesauce, I was just on a weird game kick and just binge watching video after video, then i stumbled across the fantastic game and the le fantabuloso games. It brought me to vinesauce by chance, its nice to see this evolve to where it is now.
I have been waiting years for this fantabulous game was one of my first streams , it really captures the essence of the games vinny enjoys and likes to stream it's why I still watch him today
yo this is going back to when i first found vinesauce damn bro. and ive been following this project to. all the little mentions, like in that one logan kart stream or something. and now, were home. were home.
5:30 - I feel like I shouldn't have been able to understand the round boi's dialogue as easily as I did. I'm fluent in Fantabulese and that worries me.
Some of the people here didn't read the pinned comment it seems at all. The game is floaty yes, but a lot fo issues Chat was trying to point out, are literally things you can handle yourself; like the munchers. Just throw your yellow friend into them. Also this isn't an Egg-Like at all. Stop trying to compare an actual game to those.
I love seeing the progression of this silly series of games. Its cool that the developer is making it into a full game now. Id like to try this game at some point.
I keep hearing Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" in the soundtrack to this game. Specifically with the violin going staccato. It just keeps grabbing my attention
Why is chat being dumb about Vinny criticising the game? It's a Kickstarter Beta, _it exists to be criticised_ with the implication that those criticisms will be mitigated come release. If anything, Vinny is showing that he respects the game enough to not bow down and blow smoke up its ass. If you love and support a thing, you need to point out its flaws so they can be fixed. Not doing that is disrespectful, and shows a lack of care about its development.
While the optimization and some choices were pretty shamrocks, the only thing more shamrocks are those in chat that were fuckin vicious to it. Still hoping for the game even if its been silent for about a year now, game dev takes a *lot* of time, especially for a team of 1 actual programmer.
Fantabuloso actually has an active discord, they're still on it and while updates are slow, its clear they havent just taken the money, close up shop, and run.
This was tough to watch live. Hoping the dev further improves the game based on Vinny's criticisms, because it has the potential to be a fun little FPS.
I don't hate this and I'm happy for the dev that they're working on what they've wanted to do for years, but I do miss the Egglike nature of 'Le Fantabulous Game'. I want more Egglikes, dammit.
ran perfectly fine for me, just dont raise the graphics settings. they start on medium for a reason. if you do raise it you need to lower it then restart, otherwise it doesn't actually affect anything also the game itself is neat imo. i'm sure there's more open areas since that was always the plan with what this originally was (if you check the dev's channel and take a look at when this was more souls-like, everything is much more open) plus it's a collectathon so more open levels just come naturally to that. this area in the demo is a short bit where you climb a tower to fight a boss at the top. it makes sense to be linear because it's supposed to be climactic. you absolutely should try the demo yourself before you judge this, this stream is a train wreck and it's entirely due to exclusive technical issues. most people have this run perfectly fine as long as they dont raise the graphics.
Not trying to self promote, but I just made a quick play through of this and I'm uploading it right now. For people who think the game itself is bad or at fault here I got through with minimal difficulty, no performance issues (admitably I'm on very high end hardware) and didn't struggle at all. Now obviously Vinny had performance issues and he was streaming which probably didn't make things any easier. But still, for anyone who was put off by this I don't think this video gives a fair impression. Try the demo for yourself.
Man, I loved the original Fantabulous game streams, especially the 3 hour one of the final "game". Vinny playing through that was incredible to watch live, and I pop that video on every now and again. Somehow, the generous checkpoint and lives system didn't carry over to this one, and the difficulty of the later castle stages found its way into the first area after the tutorial here. A lot of mechanics aren't cleverly demonstrated at all for the "average streamer", such as what I assume is using the balls to stuff the plants' mouths. Show don't tell, but show in a decent way please. It's a shame, because the original was so fun to watch and play because of all the memes but that can't be seen in an original product. Biggest issue I've seen is it's WAY too beginning-heavy. Giving the player four weapons right from the beginning and have them go through a gauntlet without a health point nearby is insane for a newcomer to deal with, and Vinny's familiar with the game mechanics of a fantabulous game. Ground is way too slippery and sparse for the platforming on the beanstalk/vine part given the large number of enemies that can knock you off and damage you. Overall, level 1 was an AWFUL level 1. It'd be much better as a level later on, or removing the additional waves of enemies and large number of plants. The second wave of enemies could have stopped at 2 waves and been fine, too many enemies and REALLY not enough ammo. You want your players to get though level 1 without game overs. I can tell that the dev playtested this, but since he's good at the game felt the difficulty was fine, but he had the expert's blindness doing so. This is way too tough, challenging, and honestly a bit of unfairness with the tight platforming WHILE fighting brand-new enemies. Elements should be introduced one at a time, not all at once.
I've heard 0 about this game since the stream on youtube, was it still being worked on? The devs YT channel's also gone silent since the kickstarter upload.
Here's my hot take: As cool as this looks and while I give Fantabulous credit for trying so hard, ironically enough I'm less Interested in this game because of that. I liked the original game because of all the memes and how unprofessional it was. Now it just feels like another game that's trying too hard. That's just me tho. I know it's now a year later (I knew he was building on the game more but didn't find this till just recently.) But I hope he took the feedback and is able to do something with this
@@w123hyy Bruh imagine making a game and having like 75% of a 3000+ member chatroom call it shit without playing it while you sit back and can't do anything about it in the moment.
Here's to a glorious and fully released Fantaria in the future. Also even taking into account the performance issues, Vinny's 2% accuracy with the yellowfriend arcing shot is painful to watch.
The major things I can see that can be adjusted are mainly the slowdown, and lower the difficulty or enemy amount if this is one of the earlier stages. Also the vine munchers...
Good point, I should probably get a cheap laptop to test any games I make. With that kind of limitation, the games I could make would be a lot tighter.
I really hope all this constructive feedback and, to some degree, the backlash will help the dev's figure out what they need to fix because I absolutely loved when vinny played this game years ago. Watched it live and honestly it was an amazing experience. I have hope for this game as, even though it really needs polishing, it has so much more charm and personality.
But for real though, I feel like the original charm is lost. Too much effort used here. Edit: it seems I have aggravated some people. If the devs want to make an absolutely fantastic Fantastic game, then yeah, they should go for it. All I am saying is that if anybody expected the same meme-yness in this game as did its predecessors, then they won't find it. I never said that the devs should continuously create sausage, meme games forever.
I enjoy egglikes for the silly references and amateurish charm. Something about making this a professional project just wrecks it. Also, too much green.
Honestly I like the idea that he is progressing slowly for his ideas cause this was the creators intent for a very long time. His youtube shows how far he went to make his dream come true
It's hard to put into words how much chat hated this game. I can kind of see why. While it is still an early build and will be improved, it is also a Kickstarter demo meant to sell the project. The devs should have smoothed the edges before showing it to the public.
That requires time, which requires money. KS demos are a proof of concept. And considering the creator managed to take a really simplistic concept and turn it into a proper game, I trust their ability to deliver on promises.
Didn't Vinny play this on a Sunday stream? If so, chat gets crabby when a game of any quality above total shit is played on Sunday. The trash goblins demand their garbage on Sundays.
Some of Vinny's gripes are legitimate but a lot of them just stem from him being complete trash at the game. I literally facepalmed when he ran past the sausage TWICE starting at 44:44 and then tried to blame the framerate for him not seeing it even though the game was barely dropping any frames during the 5 full seconds that it was visible on screen.
Put this game back, it's not done *IT'S NOT DOOOOONE!!* But in all seriousness, this is a far call from what it once was years ago. I hope the dev takes his time and listen to the criticisms to make it a better experience. Also watch this come out before "MOTHER 4".
Mother 4 the fangame got rebranded as something else and shigesato itoi said he's not making mother 4. If this game ever comes out it'll come out before mother 4.
People are saying chat was being toxic on this one but I'm going to have to disagree. The complaints are completely valid and this gameplay almost makes me want to quit the video, I can't imagine how gruelling this was to watch live. I say this as someone who was been here since The Fantastic Game.
From years before when the game announced it always felt like it's kinda like pizza, where the original games had very weird crust and toppings, but it was really enjoyable for how weird it was, whereas this kinda just feels like nicely even pizza crust but with almost nothing on it and it seems that's indeed the case. I think it would've been much better if the 'fantabulous' aspect/world was moved away from because it can't [copyright] meet the expectations of the original and as a normal game, it kinda just messes up it's potential. I loved the original and I'm sure fantabuloso is fully aware of the sad reality that it's very unlikely that that can be made happen on a larger scale due to it's content, but this more or less feels like polishing the grave of a once funny game.
Stuff like bizarre pictures out of nowhere, random earthbound/mother music, "daddy would you like sausages" sound clip, etc2 in the original game being removed kinda made me sad, but I fully understand why they did it and it can't be helped, so I still wish all the best for them, but it's going to be hard to top the original fantabulous game that Vinny streamed. I guess it's best to just think of this as two separate games at this point.
Part of the problem was that it was streamed on Sunday, so we had a ton of the “Sunday only” viewers. Not all of the Sunday only viewers are toxic, but there is definitely a very vocal minority of people who are just there to cause mayhem
Nothing tops the "Everything is going to be okay", one of the getting weird with it streams where the developer put the non constructive criticisms of his game, in the game; Beginner's Guide, Magic Circle, Knuckle Sandwich...
my lerics to da firs song yo hear (or you can call it "outside") were gonna get some cruust! were gonna get crust on this egg! were gonna get some crusttt! were gonna aaa gonna get this crust on this eggg! were gonna get some eggs (x5) and sausages tonight.. were gonna get some cruust! were gonna get crust on this egg! there was a warrior who once traveled this land named the chillld.. were gonna get some crust. where gonna get some crust were gonna get some cruuust!
This is a really far cry from the original game. For one, it now looks like a mediocre game you'd find in the Recent Games section of Itch.io. It looks like a lot of the effort got siphoned from being endearing in a shitty amateurish way and into a better-looking game, but part of the thing that made Le Fantabulous Game special was the amateur look, and the fact that it subverted it with a well-made, open world, fun bosses, good programming, and clever features. Secondly, in Le Fantabulous game, there was a good amount of difficulty, but this was countered by the fact that it didn't set you back about a mile and a half when you can only walk, and that there were a good amount of health pickups in between. Also, there were funny bits so it wasn't a horridly grueling task. Thirdly, it was polished and ran smoothly. This demo, even if it is just a demo, runs slow, isn't really all that polished, and generally looks mediocre. To summarize, it went from ironic and subversive to phone-game crappy, went from good amounts of checkpoints to sparse, and went from well-polished and well-optimized to slow and crappy. I prefer Le Fantabulous Game.
I gaze off into the boundless skyline Noteblock choirs playin in the sunshine I turn around pick up my sword and weild The blade that once forced evil mobs to yield If this battle will leave me slain I know Herobrine will call my name
the dev isn't trying to make the fantabulous game anymore and it's super early in development, not saying it will reach the heights of A hat in time but look at that games original builds
Guys, I understand that you enjoyed the original egg-like. But Fantaria is *NOT,* I repeat *NOT* designed to be another egg-like, the dev is trying his hands at making an actual competent game. That's why the name has changed to Fantaria, he wants to move on from the memey nonsensical crap.
