Hey, Pack creator here. Just wanted to mention because vin forgot but big thanks to the CrustyWindows collection and their wiki pages for helping put this together. I knew about a few of these beforehand but without their help i probably wouldnt of been able to source downloads. P.S. Windows 9 is very cursed because the version of windows 8 its based off is specifically designed for cash machines, atms, fridges, that kind of stuff.

Egyptian here! I can't believe I witnessed one of my favorite streamers using and showcasing modded Windows installations, live. Those types of mods exist, mainly because people want a Windows installation with built-in essential programs to use, rather than installing them by themselves. They are *mainly* free and are in software sites & forums. This was a trend in Arabian countries (especially Egypt) for a long while. I think I may have used one of the ones showcased, in the past (I think a variant of Gold Windows XP). I used plenty of them from when I had my first PC, until Windows XP ended its extended support.

@@nurtington at that point youre better starting with a working linux distro and determining which old games can run in WINE without the hassle of everything else breaking (I dont know how successful it would be in a VM still though). eg: sims 2 works really well in WINE without needing to screw around with config fixes like in win11.

44:00 Windows has always hard-capped the amount of files you can open at once to 15 to prevent people from accidentally crashing their computers. you may notice that selecting 15 files, and right clicking, commands like Run or Open will be available, but if you select 16 or more, they will no longer be present. with the power that modern computers have this may be a somewhat unsatisfactory limitation. you can raise the limit to any value you want by editing the registry. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer add or edit a REG_DWORD 32-bit value called MultipleInvokePromptMinimum. i set mine to a hex value of 30 which is equal to a decimal value of 48.

Fun fact about the QWERTY layout: it was designed for typewriters in such a way that it would actually slow down fast typers, so that they wouldn't jam the mechanisms. I don't do the "home row" method of typing, instead using my left pointer and right middle finger, and I type quite fast that way. I'm not good with typing tests because I have to look at the keyboard a lot, but for typing my own thoughts, the method is solid. So type however is the most comfortable for you.

That Arabic Avengers OS reminded me of the (RU-vid made me censor this to comment) H*zb*ll*h developed "Special Force" games using the Far Cry 1 engine. It was apparently quite popular in internet cafes in Lebanon, sort of filling the role of Counter-Strike. Derek Caelin on YT has a documentary/playthrough of the single player. I love Arab-speaking world bootlegs, they have such a unique character to them. Interesting story with that game, when they were selling it on the street, they brought out scraps of a few tanks they destroyed IRL in the battles you re-enact in game, cool marketing tactic.
