Vintage 1979 Celestion G12-65 speakers for our number 1 customer 

Ah cool, JMP bro's, my go to amp is a 78 2204, I don't think there is anything better is there. I like all the G12-65s that I've played (even the double cones ones sound cool) but there really is something about those early 65s that really come to life. I do think they need to be in the right situation. They can be pretty bass heavy at times. In my experience they are one of the speakers that is most effected by the cab and situation it is in if that makes sense.

@ZillaCabs agreed. Cabinet can break or make the speaker as well as position on stage. The friend has an open back 2x12 with two G12-65 16 Ohm in paralle, solid pine cabinetl. In that cabinet, they sound more like good worked-in V30's regarding the top end. Middle tones are not as forward either. The bass is strange. Most of the lows are a little bit weaker than the rest of the picture, and then suddenly, the lowest of lows come very powerful. Heard sane phenomenon on the stage and in the very small garden house. Anyhow, even in your videos, most of the times G12-65's have normal amount of the top end, while in your comparative video, they sound darker than most other speakers. I have had that sane experience. Sometimes they are very middle heavy and dark. The other times they are very balanced.

Not really. They aren't priced too much more above other Celestion speakers. There are a few other brands that say they do their own version of X speaker, but if the other brands were so good at making speakers they would develop their own rather than make "improved" versions of an existing speaker, if you know what I mean. They also tend to fall short in quality. If you want a cheaper alternative, then a G12T-75 can be got on ebay really quite cheap, go for an 80s or 90s model, they do a similar kind of thing and cost next to nothing.

haha yeah, but he also said that we had a bank of videos so he'll pop up every now and then for a month or so.

They are the speaker heritage 12-65 are based on, or should I say replicated as much as possible as any manufacturer can reproduce a past product.

I would say that is about it, they are the modern reproduction. I'd say its pretty close, you have to remember these speakers have been kept really well, and played for forty years so will have softened up a lot. But like you say, manufacturing processes and parts have changed slightly in the last forty years.
