I had two Camaros. If I remember right the first one was a 79 model and the second was a 80 Model. The first one needed a new engine because it was only running on 6 cylinders. Reason was bad maintenance and no oil but sludge as a lubricant. It was a wonder it was running at all. When I found a suitable engine I got a letter from our military to join our national service so I sold the car. The second Camaro was really fast with a holley carb, edelbrook manifold, headers and a dual exhaust system. The sound was incredible. When I migrated to the UK from Germany I sold the car.

I remember when the dimmer switch was on the floorboard. When they started putting them on the steering column, Grandpa had a little trouble with those. He kept getting his foot caught in the steering wheel.
@OurRideLife

Hopefully, you got it out of there so he wasn’t trapped in the car. I had a ‘59 bug with the switch on the floor. When I first got it I wasn’t sure why the lights would sometimes change when I would shift, until I found out what the button did and figure out I was hitting it by mistake while putting in the clutch. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

What I wouldn't give for a '76 Berlinetta body, with Z/28 underneath! I like that smooth tail section. Reminds me of an early Porsche 911 without the spoiler, but simpler.

We were so easily persuaded back then. Different colored grilles, wheels covers, pin striping, tilt steering wheel, words, clocks! I bet today's car manufactures pine for the car buyers of yesteryear. Before juice box holders, USB's, heated seats and touch screens were expected.

Good point. I had a friend with an 86 Z28 when I was in college. We were thinner back then and four of us would sit in the back seat. I've owned every generation of Camaro. I currently have a 2015 SS. It's the fastest of the bunch. My favorite for looks are the 1st Gen but the cars that were the farthest ahead of their competition at the time they were being built new were the 2nd Gen cars. They had a suspension that was far superior to the Mustangs and 'Cuda's they were pitted against at the time. Standard front disc brakes from the beginning on and the first couple of years had some really good engines like the LT1 and L78. All of them are pretty lovable cars though.
