Thank you for this video! I inherited a similar vice years ago and never knew it was a quick clamp type or how that part worked! (so basically I had a really gigantic, vintage, patina loaded hook on the wrong side of the workbench, hahaha!)

I am glad you found my video helpful. Good luck putting your vise back to work.

When you talked about the condition, I thought “please don’t touch it, it’s perfect” - and you didn’t. Well done. It’s mounted correctly, all you need to do is find some old-timey screws for the front.

Agreed on the screws I'll have to make some next time I'm at my buddy's blacksmith shop.

Ha. I got one not installed yet. Thanks for the tips. Especially the left side mount.

I wish I would have mounted it to a bench sooner it is proving very helpful for the construction of the legs.

You are missing the handle on the vise screw

I know. I have a nice block of hickory waiting on a friend with a wood lathe to turn it down for a handle.

how did you find screws that would go into the back face plate (to hold the wood on)? do you know the specs on what you used? thanks!
@thedelcodave
@thedelcodave Год назад
I believe the size was a number 12 pan head screw 3/4 long. I had to trim them a little bit so they did not go too far into the wood.

@@thedelcodave oh sorry I meant the ones in the back. At 4:30 you talk about countersinking the two bolts that hold the wood on. I have a similar vise and mine has threaded holes in the metal to receive those bolts but the bolts have been lost to time. So I was wondering if you had the same situation and whether you found bolts with the right threads

@@glingglo29 oh ok they were the same number 12 wood screw just longer they were 1.5 inches and thread directly into the table. The back of the vise had a through hole no threads.
