First thing that comes to my mind is where are the cheap car of that day. I hardly knew anything of a Pontiac Lemans, but at least it didn't take too many lemons to buy it.
What do you think of these vehicles, their makers, & the dealers for these specific commercials?
Any flaws in their advertising, strengths?

I was 12 years old then, i remember all these commercials. My Aunt had a Celebrity Eurosport, my cousin had a Camaro, my friends mom had a Corsica which later became her first car and my 8th grade Teacher had a brand new 1988 Buick Regal custom coupe. Great memories from the 80s, however ill never forget the big hair, my cousin would use a whole can of Aquanet to get her hair like that, my aunt used to yell at her you are going to kill us all with the fumes and destroy the ozone..lol

I wasn't born until '92 but I occasionally like to think about if I were living in those times what would I be driving. I think I would most likely settle on a Caprice.

89 camry the best car i ever owned.. bought a ninety four camry after that and was just as solid and reliable as hell.... it took most of americans to figure out we were making shit at home until they finally stepped it up and we are comparable and maybe better now than some foreign cars... maybe not chryslers..

It doesn't really matter what you call it, it's a Daewoo, and unworthy of both the Pontiac name and the epicness that was the "Get On Your Pontiac" ads.

Vauxhalls are all rebadged Opels and have been for some 40 years, I believe.

Actually, the Pontiac LeMans is a rebadged Daewoo LeMans which is a rebadged Opel Kadett/Vauxhall Astra. Missed a step of rebadging there. ;)

@jakesaintsrow123 No. I suspect unmonitored recording so they wouldn't miss the movie, which has commercials in between. On many tapes movies were on the news channels and left recording well after the movie was over, so plenty of old news and the like.

To those who say "They don't make em like they used too" Well, maybe in some cars they cheap out and use hard plastics for everything - but if you put your moneys worth into it, you'll get a nice car with great interiors. As for safety, thats laughable, the cars from the 80's obliterate themselves in accidents. Cars from today are made to crumple in specific ways to absorb impact and redirect the debris/damage away from you. They're a hell of a lot safer than back in the day.

+sacr3 Precisely. People love to say stuff like, "My dad's '65 Ford would fly into a concrete wall at 80 and you'd only have a dented bumper!" These are the same people that need a refresher course in physics. Energy cannot be destroyed so what the car can't absorb gets transferred to other things like....your body.

My parents bought a 1989 Ford Tempo .In less than 3 years the hydraulic system failed.Piece of crap car and ugly The Ford Contour and Festiva were junk, too
