A model showcase video of a 1/35th scale 90's vintage Dragon early production M4A1 Sherman tank model. Model is built for my own collection and is "one off the stash".
In this video I review the kit and discuss the model's features and improvements that went into this build.
Model is built mostly out of the box, but does use the AFV club T49 rubber replacement tracks, and the Panzerart Brass MP48 Spring antenna base.

I just snagged one of these kits at the IPMS national show last night (for $20!!!). Great kit overall! I previously built one about 10 years ago and hated it because of the kit tracks. Now that I've progressed in my abilities and skills, I think this next go around should be far better than the first attempt, since I plan to go aftermarket on the tracks as you have done. Thanks for the nice video and mention of the adaptations and detail work that you did on your build. I plan to include those improvements on mine as well.

John, for AFV club tracks, what do you use to glue the ends together? I am building an old Tamiya M42 Duster and purchased a set of AFV Club vinyl replacement tracks for it. I have ran into problems finding a suitable glue to use to attach them however. I'd appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

For the Glue I used Great Planes pro thick CA. I've used this glue on other companies rubber tracks with success. One tip though if the tracks are pre painted prior to assembly scrape the painted areas where the track ends meet with a xacto knife. This way the bond will be rubber to rubber and will way stronger then if there is a layer of paint on. This will be handy as the strong bond will hold better to the tension of the track when installed.

Ouch, that's some "rocking horse" syndrome on the bogies there. Always glue them fellers in place before adding live track.

Is this kit worth $60? That's the cheapest I can find it for

These older DML kits have went up in costs lately. In the past I would have said that 60 is a bit steep for this kit but these days look to be the market value. Which is odd since tasca M4a1 is a newer more advanced kit and starts at 50 and goes up from there. Must be a rarity / collector value effect which inflates the price. I will say though that IMO the kit did age well and is a solid build, with the caveat that you replace the tracks. Which depending which way you go can be really affordable (AFV club single piece rubber) or more costly (masterclub, friulmodel), the choice is yours.
