Vintage - Palitoy Pocketeers - Tomy Pocket Games - Part 1 - The 8 Great Pocketeers + More!
In this video we take our first detailed look at the amazing Palitoy Pocketeers, released in the USA as Tomy Pocket Games. We look at the first batch, referred to as the original 'Eight, Great Pocketeers' released in 1975, followed by the small batch of extra games that were released in 1976.
These fill me with nostalgia and I think they are truly wonderful and hark back to a time before videogames and even Star Wars toys!
Hope you enjoy it and look for Part 2 in about a months time.

Ah, memory lane! What a great video Jules, thank you. These were the must have toys in the mid 1970s. The clever ploy from Palitoy was that they were school blazer size. Remember buying Fruit Machine from Barnaby’s toy shop in Coventry. Thank you for a wonderful memory. Needless to say, my 14 year old son wasn’t that impressed and went off to play his PS5 😂😂

Me and my brother had a collection, some of which you showed, now I still have 2 which are the football game and a 1978 one which I think is obstacle course where you have one ball to find you way to the finish which is my favourite and I am glad I still have it!

I made a point of getting these in the mid 90's, they were around then in great shape. Still missing a couple in decent Palitoy packaging but I'm on the hunt!

When I was a kid the drug store in my town would have similar cheap little toys like this. When I was sick and home from school I'd get one of them. Not these particular ones but a cheapo toy game. The timer on Times Up reminds me of the timer for the table top game Perfection.
@JulesBurt
@JulesBurt 3 года назад
You're right Matthew, there were a few knock offs but the USA Tomy Pocket Games are what there are based on, they even have Tomy stamped on the base. I really love them!🙂👍

I recall that Rally game circa 1976/77... all the cool kids had em... I didn't :D. I suppose they were eclipsed a little bit a few years later by the burgeoning electronic games of the era like the Game and Watch type of things. I did have a few sets of Top Trumps however and they were cool...
@JulesBurt
@JulesBurt 8 месяцев назад
Absolutely, the early electronic games were the death Nell for these.

@@JulesBurt they were cool for the time... I guess even the Game and Watch kind of things are massively collectable these days... it's amazing where we are now with all the portable gaming platforms there are.
@JulesBurt

@neilloughran4437 Indeed, the G and W have always been collectible but these were their precursors.

They look great, seem to remember having one with a motorbike which had a clockwork (noisy sound). Think it must have been a pocketeer or something very similar.Will have to wait to see if it comes up in one of your future videos.

Thank you.I dont remember having any of that 'brand name' , but i did have many alike...from the spring load ball bering games , the mazes, water filled games...and many more...some most likely being rip off and knock off of the posket games...An age befor..the electronics hand held..These things are now collectors
@JulesBurt
