Currently completing binders for every Yuka Morii and Tomokazu Komiya artwork printed. Almost finished with my Sachiko Adachi binder, and my Asako Ito is done! My main issue is trying to identify the different variants and/or languages, then trying to find a reputable source for the Japanese cards from the older sets without "taking the eBay risk"

Really love the vintage Japanese holos you've ordered. I'm currently putting together a gen 2 pokedex in Japanese due to personal nostalgia. Loved searching for the cards in Tokyo and so surprised how cheap they are. I'm looking forward to getting a few of these too.

I had a lot of fun buying singles at Japanese card shops in Tokyo and Kyoto last year. Seems like the Japanese ex era cards are a lot cheaper than English. Bought a MP Kingdra ex (Delta) and LP Sceptile ex (Delta) for like 800 yen ($7 USD) a piece. Will definitely be looking for more soon when I can hopefully go back to Japan sometime next year.

Beautiful swirl on the Porygon2 @ 20:25!! Been buying a lot of vintage this year as well and there’s just something about old holos. Rares from modern sets that have that foil/sheen on the card and around the borders never really stood out to me. And while we have incredible texturing today on cards as that ”hit feel”, neither VMAXs or VSTARs etc felt like actual hits. CHRs and ARs are the ones I look forward to in a modern booster box, along with the big hit of the box, but even there a standard full art could shit in your cereal and you just have to finish your bowl. I'd collect these in the really long term but tbh: When looking back at cards that are 40 years old vs. 30 years old with full art I think people are going to be pricing these older cards lower for more years to come than full arts. Just my guessing. 2/3 of every card front are a color gradient the same as all others of the same type - not the case with any modern full art cards - better looking imo. But some might prefer this original style look.

I found a sr lady from japanese forbiddenlights just lying inside a cardboard box without a sleeve . I pulled it in 2018 in japan when i bought a box from a small pokemon store and put it aside because I didnt know anything about pokemon cards. After 5 years that card is actually expensive and the condition is actually not bad!

I'll catch up on the video properly later but I bought a load of the actual Japanese ex cards in 2021 because I really liked them. I don't have any of the regular holo art cards though like these. Collection is all still in semi rigids and never sent off for grading. GradingGem's PSA service shut down here in the UK and then my best option now is probs CGC with sub grades. Their cases are kinda nice too

Our boy out here commenting on the yearnings of society AND reminding us of vintage steals. Great stuff. It’s been nice to watch English vintage finally settling back down, although it seems some old singles will stay stuck at the higher prices.

@@okJLUV cheers to that. I’m a mew collector, and glad I bought plenty of the old ones starting in 2020. Some of the 2000s mews have ballooned and don’t seem to be retracing. But, it blows my mind every time a gen 3-4 holo starter shows up in the mail for less than $10. And you just recorded 20 minutes of that feeling!

What's the differnce between 1st edition & unlimited with the Japanese cards? Does it actually matter?

Also you can get Vtinage Japanese cards in like a PSA 9 for dirt cheap as well even some of the 10's you can find are super underpriced. Those Vintage Japanese cards will spike at some point pretty untouched market.
