Hi Micheal a very productive birthday haul🎉. And nice to get some of bill e records 😀. You’ve made me want to dig out my copy of the b52s album.. nice jazz compilation.. I was listening to buffalo Springfield best of today you don’t see there albums very often in Manchester. I’m a big who fan but I don’t own that compilation. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend 👍
Great records there! Peter Walker used to play for Timothy Leary’s gatherings at Leary’s home, which of course centered around invited guests LSD explorations.
Belated birthday greetings Michael! It was my birthday too on Saturday - I was planning on going across to the East Coast to Newcastle to attend a record fair there, but a rail strike put paid to that plan 😭. Ecstasy was the first Deuter album I ever picked up - nice album. Love those early Taj Mahal albums. Read so many good things about the Peter Walker over the years, but never seen a copy out in the wild. Prefer the US cover of the first Blodwyn Pig album to our UK version. Love the Steve Tibbets album - picked up the LP back in the 80s - I'd never heard of Tibbets at the time but was attracted by the cover - need to try and find some more of his stuff. Hope your birthday gig went well - all the best... Pete
Thanks Pete! Hope you enjoyed your birthday despite the disappointment of missing the record fair. Steve Tibbetts also has some nice stuff on ECM. Cheers!
Thanks, Richard! After his first couple of privately released albums, Steve Tibbetts went on to make a bunch of records for ECM, where he fit right in.
Hope you had a great birthday Michael. B52s early output is great fun as you say. I have that Deuter album, came from a big collection of krautrock..very mellow and atmospheric album. I need to hear that rainy day raga..that sounds right up my Alley. Love that Who comp..the UK version had a slightly different cover of course, but a wonderful track listing. I'd like to pick up that Blodwyn Pig album, Ben has had a couple of original UK copies, but hideously expensive!! Lovely Buffalo Springfield Again, that's their best album..expecting to fly is so beautiful.
Surprisingly, I have seen the Blodwyn Pig album twice recently at my local shop. I passed on the first copy, which was a later pressing, but snapped this original up. Agree about the Springfield! Thanks for watching!
Hi there Michael! Great birthday haul! I love my Deuter! I’ll have to look for that Peter Walker album. It sounds great! I just subbed your channel. Take care. Steve
Hey Michael! Great birthday dig scores! It sounds like it was a nice day for you. I'd love to hear more about your gig. I definitely need to explore some of these Deuter, Peter Walker, Steve Tibbets. All sound interesting. I have such a soft spot for anything B-52s. Mesopotamia is enjoyable. I recently spun my copy. That Flora Purim sounds like it could be pretty good. Earlier this year I picked up her Beautiful Dreams album also on Milestone with some of the same cast of characters (Airto, George Duke, Joe Henderson) as on Encounter but after a few tries it just didn't grab me so I purged it. I'm going to look into Encounter though as that lineup sounds great. I hope you enjoy all of your new finds!
Hi Bill! The gig was with the Zuma Drive All Stars, with whom I'd played a couple of times before. They do a lot of Santana covers, and a couple of War songs, on which I played flute, and some Chuck Berry tunes. Thanks for watching!
I was shocked, you showed a bunch of albums that I knew, weird. I need to bring back in that first Blodwyn Pig album. Abramhson wanted a blues band and Anderson wanted to branch out. I have a lot of albums from Octave. He had a great collection and autographed them all. I hope that adds value to them
Hi Steve! Octave? He must be famous...the Moody Blues did a whole concept album about him. Yes, not too much on the avant-garde tip this time around--I do also love classic rock, after all! Thanks for watching!
Happy birthday brother..no better way than to celebrate with a productive dig 😀. Deuter flora walker tibbetts all filed here ❤.. I have all of the flora milestone lp's still..nice stuff for cheap. Walker and bull don't sefm to get as much shine as fahey or basho and probably should imo..walker's second lp gypsies are important is my favorite as it is even more trippy..anyway nice digs brother..much love chris
I love the liner notes on Ahead Rings Out (written by Mick Abraham). I really wasn't aware that Ahead Rings Out has different tracks. There are track differences on their second album with Meany Mornay. Love the illustration on the cover with the audience as pigs.
Yes, Mick Abrahams has a wicked sense of humor! Will have to keep an eye out for the second Blodwyn Pig album, but that one is a lot harder to find than the first. Thanks for watching!
@@michaelpdawson I bought my copy of Ahead Rings Out in the mid-70s at a second hand shop. Mine would be the British version. Bought it because it had Dear Jill
The Taj Mahal is great. Found a similar copy at Permanent. Cover not so good but record plays well. Congrats on another trip around the sun. Any footage from your gig?
All ya gotta do is invert the W, then you get an M, and lo and behold you get a Norwegian Mood! A forgivable mistake, no?? lol! ... or was it intentional?!
