Viridor is one of the UK's leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies.
Currently, Viridor operates two energy from waste facilities safely and cost-effectively recovering value from residual waste (what's left after recycling and composting) in the form of electricity and diverting waste from landfill.
Viridor is working on proposals for energy from waste facilities in Oxfordshire, South West England, Scotland and Wales.

Instead of polluting land ie land waste fill, this is the most effective way to rid of rubbish and turn it into a renewable energy source. Fantastic. I believe Hull, England has its own plant now. Need more around the country.

absolutely fantastic creation, please upload more for me and my 2 kids, I live on my own and sometimes feel lonely if I cannot have the pleasure of watching videos about energy from waste, especially videos made by this splendid channel, hashtag, ILOVEVIRIDOR!

Energy recovery doesn't have to be incineration. It can also be landfill, as long as the landfill gas is captured and then burnt to generate electricity (rather than simply being flared off or allowed to escape into the atmosphere).

This is fantastic! We produce so much garbage and it needs to go somewhere. I did not notice but they do have filters that catch toxins before the flue gasses are released, ya? We need these in Trornto. Toronto ships their garbage to USA for landfilling. They also have very decrepid old nuclear power plants that are due to be shut down in 10 years. Incineration is way better then shipping garbage a few hundred miles by disiel trucks.

The toxins in the fumes have to go somewhere. Cleaning up the fumes produces a toxic sludge that must be disposed of in designated toxic waste landfill. Also, in the waste hierarchy, "recover" refers to recovering *materials and chemicals,* not energy.

This is already old technology and not particularly clean energy. It's still incineration.

This is only glorified incineration. We live in the future, not the past. Incineration is discouraged in the EU for a reason. There are better tech that convert waste to products. Comparing incineration to landfill and saying it is better, is a race to the bottom of the two WORST waste management strategies in existence.
