I have the Waves expansion card, can I still perform virtual sound checks? Some updated videos on all the capabilities with the Waves expansion card would be nice!
Great video and thank you I have a question as you said logic only record the 32 channels withouts effect and dynamics. How I can send my recordings with all dynamics and effects from the computer to the live streaming same time
Thanks, Drew. Can this be set up to record post-processing, i.e. post fader? For training, when we play back, it would be nice to have the actual sound as it was recorded. Then we can tweak the X32 to learn what the sound technician could have done to improve the sound. If it is playing back pre-processing, we’re not really hearing what it sounded like at the time of recording. Or am I missing something?
You mentioned the gains won't save when switching between Record and Play, right? Is that still true with the latest firmware updates? If so, couldn't i just save the "record"-gains and play-gains individually as snippets and switch back to them this way? Also: Would Scenes be better than snippets for this?
Hey Drew , Minister Still here ( Kevin ). I did everything you said , 1 I’m not getting any signal and when I move slider 1 on my Mac , all sliders move. Please help. I thank God for you bro , because I’ve learned so much. Blessings
Hi Drew. Thank you for all your videos. They are great. When I teach all my new people I tell them to watch your intro videos. I have been doing sound for or over 30 years. Clubs and small theater and mostly for worship now days. I am trying to use Abelton live 11 and learning this DAW. I want to use external plugins for effects especially for vocals. Later possibly for backing tracks. I also would like to see a video using this DAW. Great work. 👏👍
Hi Drew, I am using studio one artist to record my sessions and its working fine, however I am failing to do visual sound check with it can you help? Oh and am using midas m32
Can you do the same process with Logic Pro for the iPad? The outputs are only stereo and I can’t get a 1 to 1 patching for outputs to send to the console
Do we have to buy the expansion card to record the multitrack? I thought the M32 has the option to record multitrack into the USB flash drive as nature. Thanks
The built in usb recorder on top of the board records the full board mix as a 2 channel stereo recording. To my knowledge, you can not record a multitrack recording on it, only a stereo/mono mix.
Sorry I asked this on another video but was searching for a solution for virtual soundchecking with the waves wsg card into sound grid if we use plug ins for live mixing. Thanks.
Greetings! Good video on setting up. Logic and the x32. That's the setup I have. I always get one track that will not arm, just a grey box with a red R. It will not arm. Using your method, track 25 won't arm. I wanted to setup an 8track for drums. Track 8 won't arm. I'm finding that if I want an 8track setup I've got to create 9 tracks with the 9th track being a 'dummy' track that doesn't do anything. Seems like I'm missing something, but I haven't figured it out, and guess what? No one else is having this problem. Arrrgh!
Hey There!!! I've had the x32 but my only issue with it is the gain structure is low within the daw. The gain can be almost at 12 o'clock clockwise and the gain still is low. The only thing I've found is if you sue Stduio One (I use that,Logic & PT) it will allow you to boost the gain on the channel intake. What's your experience with Gain Structure??
I believe it’s because it’s pre processing. I’m not sure because I don’t use an x32 to record at all, but I’m thinking if you can go in and change the channel processing to post, the daw will then record that channel with the bias of whatever has been added to that channel including gain. It’s a theory worth trying I guess. I believe the purpose of the virtual sound check is to, in fact, not reflect any gain in the daw because you want the console to be responsible for that to get an accurate account of how things will sound in the room. In this situation, the daw is just housing the audio files at they’re live recorded levels so we can add all the processing we want as if musicians and singers were there. Think of the daw’s recordings as a band/session before ran through a sound system/console. I think gain structure for a recording session is slightly different in respect of the x32. I typically use a totally different audio interface in conjunction with plugins with daws so that’s why I say this is a theory. I’d say it’s worth trying though
I’m recording live bands to the usb drive but sound is too low when played on a computer, is there a way to higher the recording volume on that? Thanks
Hey Drew, great video! Can you please explain how to reamp a DI guitar or bass? How do you route the signal from your computer's DAW and into the X32 console? Thanks allot!
so I got the majority of all my tracks good & working but there are 4 other channels that aren't reading audio but was being heard played while being live. The Virtual sound check didn't pick up them up, so what can I do to fix this issue
Hello Drew, I have a question to you. In my multi-recordings, the voice levels are at a maximum of -30dB. Can I set the tapping point differently or is it only possible after the gain? thank you very much Roland
I am having trouble getting a DN 9630 working into a Mac. Maybe a setup on that would possibly help. I get no sound/input at all with ableton and with garage band I get no channel separation. My pc music comes through on every other channel.
I went through all the step fro this video, but only got audio coming in from channel 1 and 2, like a left and right stereo track. Where did I go wrong?
Good Bless You.
Hi Drew, I mix livestream audio using logic pro - M32. All input are ok except I cannot configure audio played through midas m32 aux in 1 & 2. How do i route so that the sound from aux in 1&2 can be heard on logic pro? Thanks
I have 32 tracks recorded via Dante card from one of our church services but when I follow your instructions for the virtual soundcheck, Logic sends all 32 channels into channels 1 and 2 on the X32. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to use this technique to use drum samples in-house during a live service? I’d love to use 4 of my drum channels in the x32 (kick, snare, tom 1 & floor tom) with samples coming from Logic, whilst at the same time be able to be actively receiving signal from the rest of the instruments on stage & be able to record everything in Logic Pro at the same time.
Can someone explain me please which of this a simpler mixer like XR18 doesn’t have? I thought it equally allows to record to and playback from a DAW? What am I missing?
If my band wanna start doing virtual soundcheck to dial in some more stuff.... What challenges will we face regarding gain? if I for instance have recorded a show with a guitar amp gained at -26 db at when I do a VSC and the next show it is gained at -20db??? how does this scenario work? NEVER any websites og videoes adressing this challenge? I gain stage at every show so it's never exactly the same
How to Root input one by one to channel without going to the block of 8 as default set in x32. Exemple. Chanel input to be Daw1, Chanel 2 to be from AES50 channel 8, channel 3 to be internal input 1 for x32.... Sorry for m'y english I'm french speeking
So if I turn the gain all the way down for example on my snare I’m still getting sound from the DAW. Why is that? I tried adding compression to that dry Sound from the DAW through the board but it didnt affect it.
