BMW has unveiled its Neue Klasse concept, showcasing a revolutionary design concept that epitomizes the future of automotive interiors, placing digital innovation at its core.
The Neue Klasse's interior embraces a blend of modern and vintage aesthetics. Four midcentury-modern bucket seats in warm yellow corduroy upholstery add a touch of nostalgia and warmth to the predominantly white interior. A floating center console divides the cabin, and the multi-function steering wheel features a unique square shape with a flat top, bottom, and sides.
The Neue Klasse concept debuts BMW's next-generation EV platform, an 800-volt system with a new battery design boasting a 20% higher energy density. Combined with aerodynamic improvements, more efficient electric motors, and enhanced thermal management, the platform promises a range increase of up to 30% over BMW's current EV drivetrain.
Beyond its powertrain, the Vision Neue Klasse also showcases future technologies that BMW plans to implement in its upcoming vehicles. These include:
* Advanced driver assistance systems
* Augmented reality heads-up display
* Advanced connectivity features
BMW has hinted that the Vision Neue Klasse concept previews an upcoming 3-series electric sports sedan, expected to debut as a 2026 model year vehicle. The concept's design and technological advancements provide insights into the future design language and capabilities of the next-generation 3-series.
