Ever wondered 'where does coffee come from' while sipping your morning coffee? In this vlog, we're in Medellin Colombia visiting a coffee farm where we'll be getting a hands-on look at where coffee comes from. You won't need to travel far from the city to find this beautiful place. The farm we're visiting is just outside of Medellin, making it an easy thing to do for the day. Coffee does actually come from a fruit that looks like a berry. The pit (that looks like a white bean) is what's roasted and turned into coffee. But there's much more to the process than that (as we quickly learned!). Getting to see how coffee was grown, processed, and turned into a cup of coffee from scratch was really amazing. Especially since we were able to do it here in Colombia, a place famous for its premium coffee. It should be at the top of your list for one of the best things to do in Medellin.
If you want to find out more about La Casa Grande Coffee Hacienda just outside Medellin, you can check out their website:

Let me set the myth perpetuated by many people with respect to how good or how bed the coffe available in the small towns of Colombia. Actually the stories are all wrong, and incorrectly told, ... the small towns of Medellin serve the best coffee on planet Earth, as you have seen in this video which is typical of all "CAFETEROS" in Paisa country. As you know the "CAFETEROS" ( not farmers as you called them) pick the coffe beens by hand, and they only collect and pick the best colorful red beans. As you can see these are lust green volcanic mountains of the "ANDES" producing the best coffe in the world "Planet Earth". Therfore any coffe that you drink in any restaurant or cofe place in any small town in Paisa country, ... will be 1000 percent better than any "star-Bucks place in the USA or Europe. The cafeteros are academically trained and apply the academic knowledge in the field as the young lady has explained during the take of your video. It is a fact that the coffe we drink in the USA or in Europe is far more impure and poor quality and defficient than the coffe they drink in the town of "El Jardin". The fact is the coffe in small towns such as El Jardin, ..the coffee has not been "polluted" with chemicals and other impurities in order to enhance the flavor. In addition the coffee we drink in the USA or in Europe by the time it gets delivered to us in New York City or in Paris is already old, and stale. In other words the coffee we drink in USA and Europe is already old it is not fresh. By contrast the coffe you are currently drinking in the Cafe or restaurant in Medellin, El Jardin, ..as you have illustrated in this video is actually freshly picked by the "CAFETEROS" and delivered to the center of town for sale and consumption by the local people of el Jardin or any other town in Colombia. In reality small towns such as "El Jardin" drink better fresh coffe then any large city in USA, Europe, Asia, ... by the time we get our coffee in New York or Paris, the coffe is already been processed several times it is already 3 to 6 moths old.

Wow thank you for taking the time to explain all of that! We didn’t hear the term “cafeteros” during our tour but I now see that is actually the correct word to use. Truly the best coffee we’ve ever tasted has been in Colombia 🇨🇴 we’ve filled up our suitcase with a few extra bags of coffee! We will treasure it for the next few weeks
